Blue ice — "nearly neon" — at the Mackinac Bridge...

... on Lake Michigan.

Oh, THAT blue ice.

Last time I heard the term it referred to the blue sanitizing fluid that circulates in airliner latrines. Sometimes leaks or gets ported overboard at altitude, freezes into a chunk and then falls off.

Since when is neon blue? The gas is colorless and the ion shines bright red in the ubiquitous neon signs.
