Did Marco Rubio get plastic surgery on one eye but not the other?

That's how he looked on TV this morning. That look — one eyebrow higher than the other, one eye hooded, the other with a large expanse of eyelid — persisted throughout the interview. Here's an older picture, from 2010, for comparison:

Horner's Syndrome? Can't really make a diagnosis without seeing the patitent, of course and can't determine if his pupil is constricted or not. It is rare and has multiple causes, some of which are nasty. Tihs is a common question in medical school because it is both rare and obvious when seen (plus the signs rhyme:ptosis, anhidrosis and miosis.)

Maybe he had a stroke.

Ptosis can be caused by a lot f things - a nice differential is in wikipedia - but if that is what it is, he needs to see his doctor.

Althouse obviously has far too much time on her hands these days...

No, here's a picture from 2010 and one eye is bigger. I have the same thing, but it only shows up at certain angles.

Well, actually, I have the same condition.

Nah, it's just that he raises that one eyebrow whenever he goes into his serious, intensive mode to make a point. You can watch him doing it way back in 2013 here.

I think he's tired or with minor sinus infection on one side.

I think this goes along the lines of all that guesswork regarding the Obama earpiece.

Could be a minor case of Bell's Palsy - nerve damage/impairment. Probably not.

Legitimate medical explanations are unfair. There must somehow instead be a scandal afoot.

OK, @Althouse, so this gives you cover to support Hillary! with those crazy eyes after her concussion. What will you find wrong with Cruz? Christie we already know: He's fat.

Prelude to "how Rubio lost me." Surgery, schmurgery. He's just not attractive enough.

Bell's palsy. quite common and often folks are left with a mild facial weakness.

Or it could be a third nerve palsy to the eyelid. Is he diabetic?

Rubio has definitely had some work done-major queen.

Hell, Saint Ronny died his hair.

Bad botox

I have the same problem with the same eye. Droops with fatigue. Never really bothered me so I don't know precisely what causes it, be it nerve damage or whatever.

If it's not camera angle or raised eyebrow but consistent- he needs to get a doctor, and drop out of the presidential race. We've already got one sick person running; don't need another running against her. Because we all know the media won't ever mention her medical problems.

I have the same thing. A twin, 4 1/2 lbs, it showed up when I was a baby, but now at 79 it is always obvious and more so in photos. I would think Rubio is not old enough for it to show that badly, but fatigue will do it.

Funny how now we think of surgery, botox or some artifical tampering. In my young days to hear a movie star had a facelift was very rare and commented upon.

I have one eyebrow higher than the other. It's been that way since, at age 12, the top of my right eye socket hit a concrete wall at a considerable rate of speed. (I was moving towards the wall, and it failed to get out of the way.)

It does not always look that way in photos, probably depending on angles and how I was expressing my face at the time.

My wife has a beautiful symmetrical face. Usually. But she had a serious attack of Bell's Palsey in her early 40's and if she is particularly tired, the side of her face affected by the Bell's will droop.

Rubio's main problem is that he talks too much. He's coherent but he needs to be more concise.

My eyes are like that. You can correct it with plastic surgery, but insurance won't cover it until it becomes a vision problem. With me, one of the eyelids will droop from time to time which is a vision problem when it happens, but it doesn't happen often enough to allow it to be covered by insurance. After neurological testing, my diagnosis was simply excess skin in one eyelid that gets filled with fluid from time to time so it gets bigger/smaller and it is the weight of the extra fluid that makes it droop from time to time.

The search for disqualifying asymmetries?

Good grief...if he sought to have work done, it would be adding wrinkles.

I've had botox injections for migraines. Didn't help, but for over a week my right eyebrow was frozen in place and looked "different" than my left eyebrow.

I get the same thing at as Rubio. Eyebrow looks kind of raised and eyelid droops when tired. The droop got so bad, I had a surgery to tighten the levator muscle. It still droops when I'm tired. It's very a very common condition in people. He likely just needs a levator muscle tightened or excess eyelid skin removed. Likely not a big deal. But, for some people this can be indicative of Bell's Palsey, a neurological condition or a tumor. Those can all be ruled out with blood tests and scans.

Watching the debate, I just googled what is wrong with Marco'sleft eye and found this thread....there is definitely something wrong with that eye, either disease or plastic surgery.

sapphira বলেছেন...

He has a left eye prosthesis.

Unknown বলেছেন...

There is definitely a big difference between his eyes. His right eyeball is shaped differently and the pupil is much darker than his left. It appears to be a very good prosthesis.
