"If the appeal of Mr. Walker, who is the son of a preacher and left college without graduating, is his earnest, regular-guy ability to win a room..."
"... Ms. Burke’s is her résumé: Georgetown, Harvard Business School and time in the private sector, including at the Trek Bicycle company her father founded," writes Monica Davey, as The New York Times pays some attention to the Wisconsin gubernatorial race. There's nothing that we in Wisconsin haven't seen many times, and for presentation to NYT readers, the emphasis is on Walker's need to win this close race if he is to be a presidential candidate in '16.

Sam Rayburn had the best take on the high falutin' Harvard educated folk who inhabit our ruling class. From The Best and The Brightest:
In his 20th-anniversary reflections, Halberstam wrote that his favorite passage in his book was the one where Johnson, after his first Kennedy cabinet meeting, raved to his mentor, the speaker of the House, Sam Rayburn, about all the president’s brilliant men. “You may be right, and they may be every bit as intelligent as you say,” Rayburn responded, “but I’d feel a whole lot better about them if just one of them had run for sheriff once.”
Mary Burke is an empty Channel suit, like so many Harvard educated pols before her.
The comments at the NYT site are precious.
She's single?? She doesn't have any kids?
All of her credentials can be had for a price.
Why in the world is she running for Governor?
She's all hat!!
Nothing says kicking ass in the free market economy like working for your Daddy.
Remember when we had a President who was Yale Undergrad and Harvard MBA, yet the Media/Democrats assured us that he had an IQ lower than his shoe size? I guess credentials are cool again? Has she shared her transcripts or are they on file with Barry's?
I'd never noticed before how much Mary Burke resembles the actress who plays Larry David's wife on "Curb Your Enthusiasm."
the only one who could ever reach me
was the son of a preacher man
the only boy who could ever teach me
was the son of a preacher man
yes he was, he was, ooh, he was
Having successfully survived such an acrimonious recall election it would seem the Wisconsin voters would be elated that his policies of lower taxes and reality-based public pension reform are working.
Isn't "making jobs easier to get" what the Democrats keep saying they want? What's not to like about this governor who has proven that unpopular decisions MUST be made to achieve economic progress?
Scott Walker's whole "bring my lunch in a brown bag every day" persona was made up by an advertising agency and stolen from a different candidate.
Madison Ave has crafted a very likable product out of an ugly and spiteful man (how can anyone who brags about "dividing" the state and dropping "bombs" on people be considered wholesome?) and it is working as intended.
Walker's jobs fail is the fault of lazy people. And of course, Jim Doyle.
And a cabinet caused Walker's bald spot. Not genetics. I'm surprised Walker hasn't blamed Jim Doyle for that.
"...and time in the private sector, including at the Trek Bicycle company her father founded,"
"Including"? What other private sector experience does she have? Part time snowboard teacher?
I see the Kos signal has been raised and their loyal bots are here to share their pathetic little "thoughts."
@BarrySanders20 you are right, those comments are hilarious. What happens if an adult enters the room?
I see Curious Birkel in Vermont has his heckler's veto all ready to go, trying to silence and intimidate anyone who isn't marching lockstep with this echo chamber.
If you live in New York City, there is no reality west of the Hudson - so the Fishwrap writers should stick to the strictly liberal politics of in New York - which they know and love.
Wisconsin is polling itself to death trying to influence Walker voters to change or stay home. The weekly polls are first for Walker, then for Burke all within the margin of error.
However as the Huffpo composite poll shows, registered voters like Walker by a very slim margin. That composite score has favored the governor over the past year.
FiveThirtyEight has more analysis. Wait - I think that Nate Silver lives in Manhattan.
"THE GREATEST WORDPRESS.COM SITE IN ALL THE LAND!"
Do tell.
Personally, I hope the Democrats make it about her resume.

Walker is their Messiah. They are pretty sensitive to even the slightest criticism.

I'm hurt that I didn't make that list.
Wait, aren't you going to ask for a link to something or other to disprove something or other you said?
"I'd never noticed before how much Mary Burke resembles the actress who plays Larry David's wife on "Curb Your Enthusiasm.""
That actress is married to Robert Kennedy Jr. (whose previous wife committed suicide).
I didn't invent the "hecler's veto."
In fact, as I recall, progressives in Wisconsin said that it was "what democracy looks like" when they tried to shut down their duly elected legislature.
You throw enough rocks at baboons, and eventually baboons are going to learn to throw them back.
You guys perfected these tactics. Live with it.
It is funny when grown-ass adults say "But those other guys over there did it first!!!!" in order to excuse being an asshole.
At least I am assuming they are adults; probably assuming too much.
"All of the assholes are on the other side!"
Didn't that quote come from one of the "protesters" during that era in Wisconsin politics?
I would have called it more of a putsch than "democracy," myself.
All I am saying is that if you want to claim that Walker is an "ugly and spiteful man," you can't take a step back and ask those who disagree with you to follow Marquess de Queensberry rules.
madisonfella said...
It is funny when grown-ass adults say "But those other guys over there did it first!!!!"
That's one of the most well worn tools in the liberal toolbox--"it's ok that we do it because they do it too. But they suck for doing it."
As for WI the voters have a simple and distinct choice:
a known quantity as governor or an empty suit puffed up CV candidate. The greatest of Walker's sins is what from I gather in the comments here is that Walker curbed to a large degree the state's public sector workers unions. If I was a WI voter that along would guarantee my vote for him. Public sector unions are a conspiracy against private sector taxpayers. They vote their interests and I vote mine.
A more interesting election is in my state of Florida where you have a former governor and present governor running against each other and to add to the mix the incumbent Republican governor is running against a former Republican governor turned Democrat in which the Democrat is campaigning on his record as a Republican to convince voters to vote for him this time as a Democrat even though when he was governor he was against a lot of what he is campaigning on now.
In fact, calling somebody "ugly and spiteful" because you disagree with their vision for what is best for the state pretty much squarely puts you in the asshole camp.

Is that not Barry in a nutshell?
Walker just got the evangelical Christian tag from the NYT. Get ready for a tsunami of ridicule and a series of SNL skits.
Is that not Barry in a nutshell?
Ala Saul Alinsky
Alinsky!
Walker is their Messiah. They are pretty sensitive to even the slightest criticism.
Exactly. The responses are very cult-like. Especially they way they justify doing bad things by pointing to other people, who aren't even involved in this discussion, who did bad things a couple years ago. That is straight out of Scientology teachings.
Sounds like a lot of people (or one guy with many names?) need to find Jesus and get away from this hate-filled cult they are currently worshiping with.
so "hateful and ugly" is rational discourse then?
What other response is there to you but mockery? Use of the term "asshole" is just more 'othering" from you guys. What is an asshole anyway? Somebody from outside a group who rejects the values of th in group, especially values that the in group believe to be universal?
@Curious Birkel:
Walker's plan for the state is to have it divided in order for him to conquer. Those are his own words.
While I understand that like most Republicans you personally support that vision of his, those of us in the middle find it to be ugly and spiteful. Unlike you, who is hundreds of miles away on the east coast, some of us actually live in the state that Walker is trying to cause rifts and divisions in.
so "hateful and ugly" is rational discourse then?
If the entire post consisted of only those two words, then it wouldn't be very rational at all.
Perhaps you should calm down, take a deep breath, and re-read my comment when you are no longer blinded by rage. You'll then see that a lot more was brought forth than just those two words you are now obsessing over.
Leaving aside the irony meter busting comment by Obama supporters talking about Messiahs, I will just say that madisonfella is doing a far better job of mocking herself than anything I could do to mock her.
"madisonfella said...

LOL, purple penguin. SO you! Someone mocking you is them trying to "silence and intimidate."
What a tool.
In progressive speak, "uniting" means steamrolling the opposition and dividing means organizing the opposition.
If everybody were unified, then obviously we would all be progressive leftists. That goes without saying!
"Don't believe everything you think" is good advice for everybody.
Is that not Barry in a nutshell?
Obama has also been caught on video to one of his billionaire donors talking about how his plan to divide the country? And he was also caught in a phone recording bragging how he dropped a bomb on the citizens, and how him and his advisers considered planting troublemakers in the crowd in order to make the protesters look bad?
What an asshole. Can you show me a link to those recordings so I can pass it on to others? More people should know about this.

We appreciate your efforts to puncture the bubble of our impenetrable dogmatic approach to news and commentary. Because the media is so reliably conservative we never get to see other points of view.
Walker is their Messiah. They are pretty sensitive to even the slightest criticism.
Purest projection.
Conservatives don't look for leaders who are going to "heal the earth" and herald the receding of the Great Flood the Global Warming Will Cause Real Soon Now.
We don't vote for people because we think that magically we won't have to pay off our car loans if we just elect the Chosen One.
We don't vote for someone so other countries will start liking us.
Conservatives who believe in a Messiah tend not to look for him (or her) in the voting booth. That's your schtick.
Obama has also been caught on video to one of his billionaire donors talking about how his plan to divide the country?
Never let a crisis go to waste.
One would think that after the way Meade embarrassed him over this that Curious Birkel would have given up on this whole "purple penguin" obsession of his. But obviously the guy just doesn't care what kind of wack job he is coming across as, he still doubles-down on the cra-cra.
"madisonfella said...

Bullshit. He said no such thing shortbus.
His divide and conquer was in response to becoming a "completely red state". Since you are not really very smart, that means consistently Republican. His response was ending collective bargaining with PUBLIC unions, that it would "divide and conquer"...divide the Public Unions from their Democratic cabal partners, and therefore
conquer the Democrats.

No, he just sent the IRS after his political opponents.
He also threw an american citizen in jail to support his lie about benghazi.
He also told us we could keep our doctor if we liked our doctor.
And he actually dropped a bomb on a US citizen in another country. If you listen to him enough you would know he personally kills all of those terrorists. He also personally killed bin laden. He doesn't need to be secretly taped. He brags about it constantly.
Obama jokes about IRS Audits.

But I know fascists like you are against allowing me to choose where my kids go to school.
but you'll vote for someone who promises to magically pay for your kids private school.
So it is all about enforcing the monopoly teacher's unions enjoy with public education then? Spending out dollars to do what we consider a lousy job of educating our children?
That is the problem? Glad it wasn't about "greed" or anything on the side of ant-walker forces!
Glad madisonfella cleared that up for us!
Personally, my kids go to a very good public school, because where I live has one. If we didn't, you're damned right I wouldn't want to pay for both a shitty public school my kids didn't go to and a private school where they could actually learn things like reading and writing. (Not to mention all those STEM things I hear are so useful.)
But then, I've got White Privilege, so my family has options. Color me crazy, but I feel like people who aren't White Like Me should have options too.
God knows that troublemakers were never planted in crowds of Tea Partiers.
After you drink the kool-aid, Walker's jobs promise fail is suddenly the fault of Jim Doyle, Mary Burke, and lazy, drug addicted residents. Suddenly, criminal investigations into his activities are the fault of Democrats. In fact, NOTHING is Walker's fault.
So keep swilling that stuff guys!
Notice how the cultists always try to bring up Obama anytime something bad is said about Walker? It is as if they know, deep down, that Walker's actions are not defendable at all so the only option they have is to distract and deflect away.
Fact of the matter is, Walker's "earnest, regular-guy" persona which was mentioned in the original post is something that was made-up by an advertising company. The "bring my brown-bag lunch to work every day" was stolen from a different candidate. Those comments are directly on topic, which is why so many "different" Walker supporters are trying desperately to make everyone look away at something else.
Again, your statements regarding Walker are bullshit Penguin. he never said he was going to drop a bomb on the citizens, or plant a troublemaker in the crow
Curious George has chosen to mainline the kool-aid. It's quicker!
Mark is obviously one more "hateful and ugly" person because, not only does he, and this is bad enough in and of itself, want what's best for his own family, he believes that what is best for his children may be best for other children, and so he wants to give those children options too!
What an asshole, a racist asshole too, because we all know the fabulous success public education has had in keeping minorities out of poverty!

In my school district, there used to a be a rule, ended just last year, that if a teacher received a Master's Degree, he or she received an automatic raise. AUTO.MATIC.
So the Middle School math teacher, who 'teaches' Algebra and geometry, whose teaching philosophy is 'the kids should just get it'; whose teaching style is to assign homework, then read off the answers during class; who demands students show their work, but doesn't demonstrate it; who can reliably be found at the golf course in the afternoon, while I am teaching my child the Algebra that he didn't, receives a Master's degree and gets a raise. to $55,000 a year.
On the other hand, we have a high School English teacher with a PhD. I'm pretty sure she's a leftist, yet she doesn't seem to proselytize. She is available an hour before school opens; an hour after school lets out; answers emails from the kids in the evenings. Praised one of kids critical thinking skills, research, and evidence that he used in a paper to dispute restrictions on the 2nd amendment, and runs a reading group in the summer for students; makes a little over $60,000 a year.
Personally, I'd like to pay her more and the idiot who is going through the motions a lot less. But the teacher's union is protecting him. The school board knows, the superintendant knows it, the guy's fellow teachers know it.
What is your solution to that?

When everything "factual" you post gets shot down(oops violent metaphor!) you burble on about kool-aid.
Boring.
Do a twitter search on Scott Walker and Messiah and you get quite a round up of the usual suspects on the left. Not too much from the right, none that I could find, regarding him as any kind of savior.
I probably wouldn't vote for him in the primary myself, were he to run. Between him and Hillary though, no contest.
Notice how the cultists always try to bring up Obama anytime something bad is said about Walker?
No, it's just amusing how what supposedly looks bad on Walker looks good on Barry.
If Walker were guilty of everything the most rabid anti-Walker Madison Socialist accused him of, it would be a faint shadow of what the same crowd sees as Obama's strengths.
...and to think. This thread was started by.....
""If the appeal of Mr. Walker, who is the son of a preacher and left college without graduating, is his earnest, regular-guy ability to win a room...""
Besides lefties, Obama is your albatross, wear him with pride!
Except that never happened.

Given that I've repeatedly said that Obama should be impeached, how is it hypocritical of me to point out the flaws of Scott Walker?
Didn't Obama brag: "I'm really good at killing people. " Why yes, yes he did. My president is a psychopathic murderer...who was given a Nobel peace prize. SMH@democrat party hypocrites.

"Walker's jobs fail is the fault of lazy people. And of course, Jim Doyle. And a cabinet caused Walker's bald spot. Not genetics. I'm surprised Walker hasn't blamed Jim Doyle for that."
No, but at the debate last Friday, when Walker kept pinning Doyle's record on Burke, she said she wasn't like him in everything, because she had different hair.
That seems to have been a planned joke. There was no audience in the studio, though, and no one laughed. Maybe some people at home laughed. Probably not the bald people. And the people who feel bad about the horrible deficit Doyle left behind.
"madisonfella said...

You have not made one factual statement about Scott Walker.
"Walker's plan for the state is to have it divided in order for him to conquer. Those are his own words."
FALSE
"n a phone recording bragging how he dropped a bomb on the citizens, and how him and his advisers considered planting troublemakers in the crowd in order to make the protesters look bad?"
FALSE and FALSE
Personally, I'd like to pay her more and the idiot who is going through the motions a lot less. But the teacher's union is protecting him. The school board knows, the superintendant knows it, the guy's fellow teachers know it.
What is your solution to that?
My solution would be to vote for school board members that would work to negotiate different terms into the contract.Something, by the way, that taxpayers can't do with voucher schools.
Remember when John Kerry said: "This is the dream team. We have better ideas, better vision, a better sense of the difficulties in the lives of average Americans.'' (pause) "And we have better hair.''
My solution would be to vote for school board members that would work to negotiate different terms into the contract.
Well, considering how teachers unions have amalgamated with the Democrat party and fight any such reform tooth and nail, and even use the money of teachers who disagree with them to do it, I would say that a divide and conquer strategy was in order.
Oddly enough, if you google "Scott Walker Halo," no pics appear.
Type in "Scott Walker is my hero". Shirts, bumper stickers, the whole nine yards.

So that kind of stuff is "creepy and cultish", especially if done by public school teachers, I would imagine.

You have not made one factual statement about Scott Walker
I have repeatedly referred to Scott Walker as the Governor of Wisconsin, and that is absolutely factual.
What is also factual is rather than saying you didn't see the comment where Meade corrected the mistake you keep making about Penguin, you say it "never happened." And that fact says a lot about you, as a person and your outlook on the world.
Where is ARM, since he has said that the Bush Administration is the standard of failure?
Voters in battleground states think President Obama is worse at “managing the basic functions of the federal government” than his predecessor George W. Bush - Politico
But the same deficits facing Wisconsin in the next budget is no big deal. In fact, they aren't really deficits at all!
We have money on the bank right now, so there can't be anything like a deficit.
My kids school district just took a 15% cut in state aid, not due to different numbers of kids but due to some unexplained calculation.
We lost our full time music teacher and a few staff.
I would rather like that $100 annual tax cut back as now music education comes out of my pocket if I want my kid to have one.
Don't even get me started on how my kid has to be out of the door by 715 to make her school bus after they had to rearrange the school day to afford busing in our largely rural district.
Education in our district is hurting, bad.
People can choose not to send their kids to voucher schools, which then stops the flow of taxpayer money
What about the taxpayers who don't have children? They are still paying for your kid's education.
What about the taxpayers who don't have children? They are still paying for your kid's education.
So these people are cash cows only to be milked by the teacher's union?
I didn't know that people who didn't have kids got out of paying school taxes if there were no vouchers.
Tell me more, motivated thinking fascinates me.

"madisonfella said...
This has nothing to do with the color of his skin Mark. George W Bush served honorably in the military, during a time of war, so he gets a free pass on saluting with the doggie in his arms. It was an accident, he was just trying to do too much at one time.
Obama despises the military, dodged the draft, and is a commie who was born in Kenya. This "coffee salute" is the latest example of his deep rooted hatred towards everything American."
That looks like sarcasm to me, rather than a serious call to impeach.
From teh third result:"Does this mean the House will finally start impeachment proceedings against Obama or is this simply more faux outrage with no other purpose other than to energize the Republican base heading into the elections?"
If it weren't for the context of all your other posts, I could see this perhaps genuine. Until I go to the "faux outrage" part. I don't see all the scandals as foux outrage at all. that post is a snide way of saying that concerns by people who disagree with the Left's policies are fake.
"If he has been found to have accepted foreign donations then Obama should be impeached." This we can agree on, too bad that the Obama campaign turned off the verification so someone could tell, huh?
Thanks for that link, I have bookmarked it.
madisonfella, I don't live in your state and so I really don't care about who gets elected there but I do like pointing out the hypocrisy of folks that harp on politicians for things that are done far worst by far more powerful and just because they have the "correct" letter after their name, not a peep in protest do I hear. As others have pointed out Obama sends the Federal government after his enemies (IRS, DOJ, etc.), has citizens thrown in jail to cover his ass, directs the government to commit crimes that would have me in jail but even after causing the deaths of other US and non-US citizens continues to get a pass, and the best defense you can offer is "point out a Walker flaw (as you see it) and they (those others again) always throw out Obama". Well sure, why not? He is the better example of all that you complain about, about Walker.
Do you get the idea that these comments from the lefties here play better at the hothouse environments of DU and Kos?
Can it be that nobody there thinks of obvious rebuttals?
""They've got themselves a little better disciplined. But, you know, the fact is that Obama's down with everybody, let's face it, there's a reason,” [Tina]Brown said. "And I think that particularly for women. I don't think it makes them feel safe. I think they're feeling unsafe. Economically, they’re feeling unsafe. With regard to ISIS, they’re feeling unsafe. They feel unsafe about Ebola. What they're feeling unsafe about is the government response to different crises. And I think they're beginning to feel a bit that Obama’s like that guy in the corner office, you know, who's too cool for school, calls a meeting, says this has to change, doesn't put anything in place to make sure it does change, then it goes wrong and he's blaming everybody. So there's a slight sense of that."
wait, your kid has to get up at 7:15 and if he/she wants to play an instrument you have to pay for lessons, and that proves education is suffering?
So these people are cash cows only to be milked by the teacher's union?
They don't have elected school boards in Vermont?
No wonder you're so pissed. I would be too if it was like that here. Which is how it will be if vouchers take over.
Nice attempted dodge of the issue, madisonfella.
I don't blame you, your position is looking kind of weak.
How does electing school boards allow those who don't have children to avoid paying for public education?
That is a stupid assertion, that probably stands in for something that you don't want to say in public.
I am taking the above as a kinder interpretation than that you are just plain that stupid.
"garage mahal said...
And the people who feel bad about the horrible deficit Doyle left behind.
But the same deficits facing Wisconsin in the next budget is no big deal. In fact, they aren't really deficits at all!
*glug glug glug*"
Apples and oranges. Scott Walker got rid of a $3.4 billion structural deficit, that resulted despite billions in tax and fee increases as well as raiding dollars from the Highway and victims fund. And Walker did while cutting taxes and returning a billion to tax payers in the state. We also have a huge increase in the raining day fund.
Next stupid argument please.
So your real concern is loss of political control over the schools?
Too bad. Not a concern of mine. The teacher's unions have abused the elected school board process to the point that other models are attractive.
School boards are basically a mechanism by which teacher's unions can select their negotiating opponents.
"madisonfella said...
You have not made one factual statement about Scott Walker
I have repeatedly referred to Scott Walker as the Governor of Wisconsin, and that is absolutely factual."
Yes, I guess you did. That ios the only factual thin...the "divide and conquer", "dropping a bomb", and "planting protesters", all bullshit.
"What is also factual is rather than saying you didn't see the comment where Meade corrected the mistake you keep making about Penguin, you say it "never happened." And that fact says a lot about you, as a person and your outlook on the world."
Didn't happen Penguin, but I will wait while you find the post in question.
thanks for that link madisonfella
What is really funny is how you first made a snide remark about me asking for links to back up the bullshit you spew and then you asked for a link which showed I wasn't spewing bullshit after all.
Tho, of course, you tried to spin it as if I wasn't sincere in my dislike for Obama. You carefully cherry-picked in order to make it appear I never really meant such a thing, because of other comments I've made. (circular reasoning, anyone?) Because you just can't wrap your head around the idea that there is anybody in the middle who is fed up with slimy politicians regardless of party. That entire concept is way too foreign for you to even comprehend, so you automatically assume that anyone who isn't 100% with you must be 100% with the other side.
Such a sad and empty world you must be living in, to think that everyone can be broken down into one of only two groups.
"A more interesting election is in my state of Florida where you have a former governor and present governor running against each other and to add to the mix the incumbent Republican governor is running against a former Republican governor turned Democrat in which the Democrat is campaigning on his record as a Republican to convince voters to vote for him this time as a Democrat even though when he was governor he was against a lot of what he is campaigning on now."
It's not the people, it's the WIN.
My kids school district just took a 15% cut in state aid, not due to different numbers of kids but due to some unexplained calculation.
How State Aid to schools is computed is one of those things that only Bureaucrats can explain, and that they love to control. That they can't even give a close-enough estimate that allows School Districts to budget is ridiculous.
I'd love to see that formula changed -- but I can't see how to do it without involving politicians in Madison who will only make things worse. I understand the need to spread the wealth, so to speak, so that small school districts have resources, but the current system is pretty broken.
the "divide and conquer", "dropping a bomb", and "planting protesters", all bullshit.

No bullshit. He said all of it.
"Didn't happen Penguin"
Funny you should phrase it that way, because "didn't happen" is exactly the answer to "Did anyone named Penguin post on Althouse"
but I will wait while you find the post in question.
It is still there, didn't take long at all to google it up. I'm just enjoying watching you dig your hole deeper and deeper while you foam at the mouth over this silly nonsense.
So tell me a few more times how Meade never corrected the mistake you keep making in regards to this penguin obsession of yours. And then tell me some more about how you pay such close attention to detail that you, and you alone of everyone on the blog, were able to peel away the secret mask and expose me for who I really am!!
Just say all that some more and then I'll direct you to that post from less than 6 weeks ago.
"Tho, of course, you tried to spin it as if I wasn't sincere in my dislike for Obama."
That is of course for others to decide if they see the same thing I do. All I see is sarcasm, and a propensity to back leftist policies. but go ahead and fault me for the impression you leave.
Don't even get me started on "sharing the wealth" among districts.
Our state has a maximum that can be spent per student as a way to ensure fairness.
What this means is that it is impossible to give decent services to tiny school districts because there is zero economy of scale, even if those districts want to spend more money.
The result? Private school for the haves, a crap education for the denizens of the double wides. We can only hope that their children's highest ambition is waitress or auto mechanic (not that there's anything wrong with that) because the education these schools give isn't going to give them a lot of options. But hey! Screw the poor kids, protect the teachers! I get it.
Isn't Mary Burke a former school board member? I guess opposing her makes Walker "hateful and ugly."
Walker should go all in for a buzzcut to show off the bald spot. It could be his own halo.
Look at Gov Moonbeam of Ca:
When he was the youngest governor, he had bushy hair, practiced yoga, and had a popular singer for a girlfriend.
Now as the oldest governor, he is bald and is against legalizing marijuana.
Yeah, I know, none of this means anything. But just think about the low info and petty voters. They need love too.
All I see is sarcasm
Of course that is all you can see. Because your worldview requires for everyone who is against Walker to be for Obama. That strict-binary perception is the foundation you've built everything on and if that crumbles then so does most of your beliefs and opinions.
Apples and oranges. Scott Walker got rid of a $3.4 billion structural deficit, that resulted despite billions in tax and fee increases as well as raiding dollars from the Highway and victims fund.
It wasn't 3.4 billion, and it wasn't structural. But I'd hate for you to have to venture outside Dear Leader's Preferred Talking Points.

Nope, nice try though.
*fingers in ears*
Trololol. I can't hear you. It didn't happen.
As usual, you've got nothing
So even when provided with the video and audio of Walker saying such things, you are still absolutely sure he never uttered those words, right?
You're Purple Penguin.
And you're absolutely sure I'm Purple Penguin(or was it shortbus? or perhaps Corky? Hard to keep up with all the names you try and tag on me) because you pay attention to all the little details and were able to figure that out even though nobody else was able to, right?
As far as the Meade thing, never happened.
And you are absolutely sure that Meade never corrected the mistake you have been making this whole time?
There is no doubt in your mind at all; you are absolutely sure about all of that, yes?
So even when provided with the video and audio of Walker saying such things, you are still absolutely sure he never uttered those words, right?
*glug glug glug*
And yet all of this back and forth does nothing to change my observations (from afar) regarding Ms. Burke, summarized by: All hat no cattle.
"There's nothing that we in Wisconsin haven't seen many times,,...."
You don't see much about it being the most segregated place in America - or, especially, any expose's on what effects that has on Wisconsin's black citizens, being isolated in poverty, without contacts or resources.
Birmingham, Alabama used to hold the title, you know.
Congratulations, and good luck to Scotty,...
"Because you just can't wrap your head around the idea that there is anybody in the middle who is fed up with slimy politicians regardless of party."
So, by this I assume that you support continued investigation into Fast & Furious; The IRS; The DOJ going after James Rosen; and all the other scandals then? You support Rep Issa's work?
my observations (from afar) regarding Ms. Burke, summarized by: All hat no cattle.
No disagreement with me there.
I'm not voting for Mary Burke as much as I'm voting for a divided government. One party rule isn't a healthy thing for our society. The Republicans have had full control over all three branches of our state government and the results have been terrible for Wisconsin. We need some checks and balances, and that is what I am voting for in Nov.
So, by this I assume that you support continued investigation into Fast & Furious; The IRS; The DOJ going after James Rosen; and all the other scandals then?
Someone should have gone to jail for running guns to the drug cartels. If it reached to the White House then Obama should be impeached. Don't know enough about the Rosen case to have a strong opinion one way or the other, but on its face it is chilling when the government uses such tactics against a journalist. The IRS scandal seems to be mostly made up; if a group is considered tax exempt then they need to follow the rules when it comes to political activity and it is proper for the IRS to investigate such things.
And as far as all the other scandals: I thought the birth certificate scandal was just nonsense until Obama refused to present it which makes it obvious he is hiding something. Same thing with his college transcripts, the only reason he won't release must be because he has something to hide. I don't care one way or the other about the allegations of Obama being a homosexual and cheating on his wife with various Hollywood actors.
Sure I missed some of his other scandals, there have been so many. So feel free to ask if have anything else in mind. Obviously my opinions are really important to you and so I'm happy to share them.
"Obviously my opinions are really important to you"
not really. However, I was curious.
now, how has Walker, or Republican legislators, been "terrible" for Wisconsin? I have friends and family in Wisconsin, and even the ones who normally vote Democrat don't have a problem with him. Especially the one teacher in that bunch who is no longer forced to pay union dues.
"madisonfella said...
So even when provided with the video and audio of Walker saying such things, you are still absolutely sure he never uttered those words, right?"
You said he made these statement regarding citizens Penguin...he did not.
The "divide and conquer" was in regard to the cabal between the public unions and the Democratic Party.
The "Drop a bomb" was again, not on the citizenry, but on the Public Unions.
And Walker never discussed planting someone in the protests, when the idea came up, he squashed it.
So three strike you are out.
"madisonfella said...And you're absolutely sure I'm Purple Penguin(or was it shortbus? or perhaps Corky? Hard to keep up with all the names you try and tag on me) because you pay attention to all the little details and were able to figure that out even though nobody else was able to, right?"
Yep.
"madisonfella said...As far as the Meade thing, never happened.
And you are absolutely sure that Meade never corrected the mistake you have been making this whole time?
There is no doubt in your mind at all; you are absolutely sure about all of that, yes?"
So now it's "corrected the mistake"? Before it was "Meade embarrassed him"...in any event, didn't happen.
now, how has Walker, or Republican legislators, been "terrible" for Wisconsin?
A couple examples that come to mind right away is how he started his term by intentionally being extremely divisive with his landmark legislation, as well as the formation of the WEDC which clearly looks as if it is being used as a "pay for play" conduit back to his election campaign.
Do you think the way he "dropped a bomb" on Wisconsin with Act 10 was a good thing or a bad thing? What are your thoughts on the WEDC scandal?
It's an Obama world we live in. Only in Ebolaville is a wealthy woman who started as a VP in her family's corporation considered to be a successful businesswoman.
"intentionally being extremely divisive with his landmark legislation"
How so? please explain. I've read how Act 10 was characterized by its opponents. What about it exactly was extremely divisive? genuinely curious as to the specific acts that you see as "extremely divisive" also, and I don't know if you voted for Obama or not, but if "extremely divisive" is your standard for opposing Walker, how do you square that with "I won", "punish your enemies" and so forth?
A couple examples that come to mind right away is how he started his term by intentionally being extremely divisive with his landmark legislation
The one that has saved districts tons of money and required state employees to pay into their own insurance?
In what world is that "extremely divisive".
It's not like he walked through opponents with a giant gavel or anything.
Do you think the way he "dropped a bomb" on Wisconsin with Act 10 was a good thing or a bad thing?
Few Acts have been as utterly a positive for a state as that one has been.
"A couple examples that come to mind right away is how he started his term by intentionally being extremely divisive with his landmark legislation, as well as the formation of the WEDC which clearly looks as if it is being used as a "pay for play" conduit back to his election campaign."
It's so devisive that Mary Burke won't even take a stand on it.
As far as the rest, hardly a scandal. That said, emails indicate that when Burke took her post as Commerce Secretary under Doyle, she specifically said that although she didn't see the need for the state to get involved in business assistance, she did need money for rewarding business for political reasons.
he "divide and conquer" was in regard to the cabal between the public unions and the Democratic Party
It was in regards to right to work laws, which involves all citizens not just public sector workers.
The "Drop a bomb" was again, not on the citizenry, but on the Public Unions.
Actually, it was in reference to the way the Republicans decided to unveil and introduce Act 10 to the public. And despite your constant attempts to dehumanize them, public sector workers are still citizens as well.
And Walker never discussed planting someone in the protests, when the idea came up, he squashed it.
So it was never discussed, yet when it came up in discussion it was squashed?
Buwhahahahaha!! You are an amusing little monkey.
So now it's "corrected the mistake"? Before it was "Meade embarrassed him"...in any event, didn't happen.
Now? I cleared that up ever since it occurred to me that you are incapable of being embarrassed. Happened over four hours ago, and you've even quoted it for the last three times. So why are you acting as if it is sudden and new?
But regardless, the way you keep insisting it didn't happen at all rather than just admit you didn't see his comment makes me a tad worried about how you're going to react when you do finally see it for yourself. How do you usually react when you're shown to be so wrong about something so simple? Should I be worried?
the one that has saved districts tons of money and required state employees to pay into their own insurance?
While that is exactly what conservative bloggers would like you to believe, the truth is Act 10 went a lot further than just that.
But I'm not talking about Act 10 itself, rather then way it maneuvered through the statehouse with only a sham of public hearings. His intentions were to drop a bomb, and that is exactly what he did.
It's so devisive that Mary Burke won't even take a stand on it.
Are you absolutely sure Mary Burke hasn't taken a stand on Act 10?
http://fox6now.com/2014/08/19/mary-burke-visits-fox6-discusses-voter-id-act-10-the-economy/
You really make this way too easy. And your whole "WEDC isn't a scandal but Mary Burke did it too!" twisted response is one of your best ones yet. I don't have to agree with your opinion in order to appreciate the beauty in your work. Well done, sir.

LOL Good old penguin. There's a reason you keep tap dancing...never happened.
While that is exactly what conservative bloggers would like you to believe, the truth is Act 10 went a lot further than just that.
It also abided by noted right-winger FDR's belief that government employees shouldn't unionize.
Except it didn't prevent them from unionizing. Just prevented them from throwing money at their supporters to get them elected --- which allowed them to throw money at public unions to continue the cycle.
But I'm not talking about Act 10 itself, rather then way it maneuvered through the statehouse with only a sham of public hearings. His intentions were to drop a bomb, and that is exactly what he did.
Didn't the Dems run away from WI? Hard to have a public hearing when one side is bought and paid for by the public unions.
Like it or not --- Walker won. The people sided with his policies.
...and they seem to not be too upset about Act 10 outside of Madison (who has "rage" as their default setting) and public unions, which barely exist as is.
Damn, I was actually hoping for an answer to my last question.
Point of order -- it was the Purple Penquin. May or may not be madisonfella.
http://purplepenquin.com/tag/cognitive-dissidence/
MadisonMan, I hear you there.
I have to say when looking at the districts that seriously benefitted, a lot of the biggest gains are in the ring counties around Milwaukee, Walker central.
Pewaukee up 150%, etc? stinks to high heaven.
And the loss of music classes is not learning instruments ... It's first grade music. Wonder if next year we will lose art class.
I'd imagine if Mary Burke were a Republican, she would be demonized as a 'soulless corporate shill who got ahead only via nepotism.'
Maybe not.
No, he said "public workers" dumbass
She asked Walker about getting right to work law passed in Wisconsin and that is the question he answered.
And do you often call people names when you disagree with them in public or are you only a tough guy while online?
Walker never discussed planting anyone with his cabinet. Others brought the idea to him, he said no. His only activity was to say "NO"
Are you sure about that? Because Scott Walker himself said "we thought about it". He also said that he didn't act on it because he was fearful that if there was a major disturbance that the public would get scared and urge the Republicans to settle and avoid those problems.
But you're absolutely sure none of that ever happened and instead Walker never considered the idea at all and instead immediately said "NO" when it was brought to him, eh?
Just wondering, where are you getting your information on this from? Given your past history of not paying attention to what is written I would like to read the link for myself and see if it actually backs up what you are saying or if you are misreading things yet again.
There's a reason you keep tap dancing...never happened
And you are absolutely sure about that? Didn't happen at all, let alone in this thread: http://althouse.blogspot.com/2014/09/when-obama-came-to-milwaukee-on-labor.html
You're sure that no where in that thread did Meade point out the mistake you've been making this entire time. Never happened, right? He never did anything of the sorts, eh?
And you are as absolutely sure that didn't happen just as you are absolutely sure about everything else, right?
Damn, I was actually hoping for an answer to my last question.
I know the feeling. I wanted to hear your thoughts about the WEDC scandal, but you seemed to be too focused on Obama to discuss much of anything else.
Except it didn't prevent them from unionizing.
Except that Act 10 did make it illegal for several hundred workers to unionize. As well as make it extremely difficult for the other unions to re-certify.
If Scott Walker had to follow the same election rules (a majority of all eligible voters, rather than a majority of votes cast, in order to win and must be re-voted on every year) that were imposed on public sector unions then he wouldn't be governor today.
Point of order -- it was the Purple Penquin
Are you sure?
Because Curious George is sure it was Purple Penguin. And he isn't just sure, he is absolutely sure.
If Scott Walker had to follow the same election rules (a majority of all eligible voters, rather than a majority of votes cast, in order to win and must be re-voted on every year) that were imposed on public sector unions then he wouldn't be governor today.
An irrelevant distinction.
Ha. Thx Mr D, I was just going to point that out. If the dodge is penguin vs penquin, whatever the latter is ...
so are you admitting you are the bird with Q but not with G?
