3-year-old girl survives for 11 days in the Siberian wilderness with the help of her puppy Kyrachaan.

"Rescuers came across numerous bears before eventually finding the child. The tot was extremely thin, with mosquito bites covering most of her body, as well as scratches on her feet. Larina remembered everything about her frightening ordeal, especially how Kyrachaan had kept her safe and watched over her...."

That's the report from Central European News.

I smell (a) a failed murder, and (b) a ghostwritten account of the ordeal as told through the eyes of the dog.

Oh, wait, that's a typo, too. I meant to type "typo," but typed "type" instead.

OK! Perhaps none of you have a Siberian loved one. I do!

This story brought tears to my eyes because it rang true.

Typo fixed. Sorry I've now "rwecked" your jokes.

They didn't know she was missing until days later when the mother was able to get a hold of the father. Do firefighters usually take their toddlers to work with them?

The Russians are learning from us.

"Social workers are investigating the family for neglect over the four-day delay in reporting the youngster missing."

Does anyone think we could ship them 100,000 American lawyers with translators ?

Dogs are great. Dogs are the best.

Hilarious.

Good thing they found her when they did.
After 11 days of admirable restraint, she was surely ready to eat that dog any minute. In that picture she's still holding the rock she planned to knock him on the head with.

Bob Boyd, that reminds me of a show I (unfortunately) watched called 'I survived'. A Brit got lost in the Amazon and ended up eating his 'beloved dog' that had stayed with him and protected him, and in which he immediately threw up after consuming raw. He was rescued several days later. Jack ass.

We're the ones who need translators. Talked to a lawyer lately?

Only as long as there is peanut butter in the kong. After that all bets are off.

The story reminded me of Werner Herzog's 'Happy People':

Wonderful movie. After seeing the deep connection the people have with their dogs, this story won't seem far-fetched.

Oddly enough, not long after watching it, I ran into a Siberian girl...working a park gift shop in Moab, UT. We were out escaping the winter, but she apparently missed it.

That would be an act of war subject to massive retribution. On the other hand, our regulatory bureaucracies are filled with socialists so maybe some payback is justified.
