"Fox News didn't even do this. Fox News didn't even cover it. And it's huge, folks. It's the way out! It's what the Tea Party claims to want."

It's...
Scott Walker!
Now, we know why the left-wing media's not gonna report it.  This is anathema to them.  But it has finally made it outside this program.

UK Telegraph, Tim Stanley. "How Walker & Conservatives Saved Wisconsin. America, Take Note."  And here's a pull quote.  "So the message to America, and the rest of the world, is this: get spending under control, cut business taxes, create a welfare system that encourages people to seek work and you will balance the budget, reduce unemployment and be able to let people keep more of their money. It turns out that conservative economics, applied with determination and care, can work."

It really, really worked, folks.  It did.  Everything that we tell you, theoretically, will happen, did. Unemployment's down, prosperity is up.  The government has more money than it needs.  He's rebating it in the form of a tax cut....

Now, I don't know whether he can parlay this into a run for the presidency.  That's not my point here.  The point is this is the way out of the mess that we are in.
That's Rush Limbaugh mostly bouncing off the State of the State Address from last Wednesday. Here's my post from last week about that.

It's quite a while since I began reading British papers for US news.

I just saw the story about Scott Walker on Fox News Special Report.

Fandor বলেছেন...

Scott Walker is the "real McCoy". Scanning the field, as it is today, he's the best the Republicans have. Go, Scott, go!

SteveR বলেছেন...

Scott Walker had sex in college...War on Women...garage reads the talking points...pay no attention to important stuff...Hillary regrets Benghazi...more free stuff...

Seeing Red বলেছেন...

On the other hand read Zero Hedge. To dig themselves out of their vote-buying caring ways, the Euros want a tax on wealth. Always watch the fine print cos it usually doesn't hit who you think it does.

Cos how their salaries may be paid, or the rules they made it might not affect them.

Big Mike বলেছেন...

It would have been better if Scott Walker had stayed below the radar a little longer.

What the Republicans want is a fiscal conservative who can win in blue state. From here it looks as though Walker has all of the pluses and hardly any of the negatives of Chris Christie.

But there are other Republican governors besides those two.

Again - if it worked, where are the jobs?

I'm Full of Soup বলেছেন...

What is the over an under as to how many people the Dems have today already doing opposition research on Walker? 100? 200? 500?

It was never about creating jobs. It was always about shoveling money to rich connected donors.

Illuninati বলেছেন...

I'm happy for Wisconsin, but I doubt anything has really changed. Rudy Giuliani rescued New York from the cesspool, and look who the New Yorkers just elected by a wide margin. Wisconsin will probably be back where they began within one or two election cycles.

Cliff বলেছেন...

Correct me if I am wrong please, but doesn't he have one of the worst job creation records of all the current governors?

iowan2 বলেছেন...

"Shoveling money to rich connected donors"

We know Obama did that.

Specifics?

Solydra. DOE loans(?) at the same The Obama administration changed the rules protected private investors as secured creditors. Never happened that way in the past.
http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/07/obama-fundraises-with-players-in-solyndra-scandal/

So lets have the evidence of Walker shoveling money to rich donors. Or is it just more pinched squealing of the leftist swine caught between their lies and the facts?

SteveR বলেছেন...

Cliff reads talking points

MadisonMan বলেছেন...

So, it's Scott Walker vs. Hillary!!

Oy.

wildswan বলেছেন...

In Wisconsin jobs are ticking up and the rest of the basics are done. Unlike New York and Illinois where the basics are not done, people are fleeing the state and real jobs are almost static.

When are the resident lefties going to speak up for the African-Americans whose jobless rate is through the roof and whose birth rate is through the floor? Never - because the current lefties don't actually care about anything but their talking points - "my precious" agenda.

Cliff বলেছেন...

My understanding is that WI under Walker has been 45th or 46th of all states in job creation. If I'm wrong so be it. If it's accurate it is hardly a talking point and seems important in a discussion of how successful he has been.

Birkel বলেছেন...

If I understand the talking points correctly, the main criticism is that Governor Walker solved the problems he could directly control -BUT- the thing he promised but couldn't directly control did not obtain -THEREFORE- Governor Walker has been a terrible governor.

Meanwhile, as I understand it, President Obama inherited the worst economy since the Great Depression -AND- has made things he could directly control much, much worse -AND- things President Obama did not directly control got worse -THEREFORE- it's all President Bush's fault.

Could I get one of the resident Leftists to square these arguments. I'll wait patiently here.

Birkel বলেছেন...

Cliff:
I have issued a challenge. Go for it!!

Meanwhile:
Can somebody explain to me how government creates jobs? I understand how government can create conditions that retard business growth. That mechanism is clear (See, e.g. communist countries everywhere across cultures and times) but creating jobs - by government - has never been explained, by anybody, anywhere.

Michael K বলেছেন...

"Again - if it worked, where are the jobs?"

Ask Obama. Swimming upstream works for salmon but millions don't make it.

wildswan বলেছেন...

About those jobs
In 2008 construction was the number 1 creator of jobs in the US and manufacturing was number 3. In 2013 IT is the number 1 job creator, manufacturing is number 7 and construction is number 11. Wisconsin had more manufacturing as a percentage than any other state. So this change to the economy - from construction and manufacturing to IT (and health care)hit Wisconsin especially hard - sort of like Detroit. But unlike Detroit, Wisconsin did not go bankrupt. That is because of Scott Walker. He carried out the reforms that were needed unlike the Democrats in Detroit who simply stole as long as they could and then whined. And so Detroit is bankrupt and Wisconsin is running a surplus and is cutting taxes. And the Wisconsin economy is slowly adapting to the change that sank Detroit. (Detroit, which, have I mentioned this yet? was led by Democrats.)

SteveR বলেছেন...

The public sector unions are well organized, those union dues keep the bosses connected across the country, including all those nice conventions in warm places. Walker is public enemy #1 and they are investing lots of resources to stop him and since the supposed plight of public sector due to Walker generates very little sympathy with most of the voting population, they are going after everything else with "garage mahal" level accuracy and impartiality.

Fen বলেছেন...

Also, when comparing Walker vs Obama re job creation, don't forget the new jobs "saved" category created for DHOTUS.

DHOTUS = Diversity Hire of the United States, kinda like POTUS but with much lower (ie racist) expectations of performance.

Cliff বলেছেন...

Berkel, I am not a leftist nor do I wish to defend Obama's terrible record, not does it have anything to do with Walker's record. But even if I did wish to defend leftism or Obama I don't understand your challenge. It is very poorly written.

Drew বলেছেন...

From the DWD site of wisconsin.gov it appears that:
During walker's tenure , 2011 - 2013 so far: 85k more jobs/employed than at the end of 2010.

Its ends up being about 3.5% increase.
Census claims WI population gained only 1% during the same period.
Unemployed claims dropped by 29k
Labor Force dropped though: 29628. Retires? state fleeing? will b interesting to see 2013 stats summarized finally.

Unlike the free crap that TheStupids™ expect and is given out right away , Walker's recovery seems to be working as planned.

Taxes: 2010 Average AGI per return was $46,958, avg tax per return: $2115
Taxes 2012 Average agi: 49,900, tax per return: 2310

AGI increase from 2010-2012: 11.9 billion, 66.2k more returns for average of 180k more per return.

Yes, something is working quite well in Wisconsin.

Unknown বলেছেন...

Can't judge Walker's job environment in a vacuum. His reforms will bring more jobs, even in Obama's depression.

A forecast of the 2014 job creation prospects for each of the 50 states released earlier this month by the Pew Charitable Trusts projected Illinois will be 50th with an expected job-market growth rate of .98 percent. That would amount to just short of 57,000 net new jobs added this year.

The No. 1 state in Pew's projections was North Dakota, at 3.57 percent. Among Illinois' neighbors, Indiana's projected rate was 1.6 percent, Iowa's at 1.39 percent, Wisconsin at 1.49 percent and Missouri at 1.33 percent.

And obamas approval is over 50% in Illinois.

David Davenport বলেছেন...

Nope, what the Republicans need is a socio-cultural defender of real America who can carry all the Red States as well as Ohio, Florida, Virginia, and maybe Colorado or Wisconsin.

Yes, and the man also needs to be a fiscal conservative. But nothing at all like Chamber of Commerce waterboy U.S. Rep. Paul Rino of WI.

Manufacturing in Wisconsin will continue to decline unless Wisconsin becomes a right to work state.

Birkel বলেছেন...

Cliff's answer to my challenge is to plead poor reading comprehension skills. Also,

Noted.

নামহীন বলেছেন...

Scott Walker does seem like a solid choice.

But here is my concern with any Republican candidate. Are they ready for when the Democrats, also known as reporters/pundits, go after him? They will want him to bow down to their wisdom and cater to the left wing (Excuse me, I meant the "middle").

They will ask him, "What did you think when Romney mentioned the 47%?" and try and get him to throw Romney under the bus.

They will find other things Republicans and Conservatives have said and they will try and get him to either accept their premise and agree with it, "Are you a woman hater just like Huckabee?" or they will try and get him to throw his fellows under the bus.

Scott Walker better be ready for this. Because I'm not voting for anyone who turns out like the Governor of MN, Pawlenty. The minute he threw Sarah Palin under the bus for having targets on political offices around the country, I knew he was out.

Can Walker be tough and stand up to these Democrats pretending to be unbiased reporters?

Tarrou বলেছেন...

I wish Walker were a viable candidate. But I think the Repubs have learned their lesson, and it will be a decade or more before they nominate a white man. Could be wrong there, but I think Ted Cruz has a better shot. And I don't think he has much of a shot.

OBloodyHell বলেছেন...

LOL, the libtards are frothing over Christie, like any conservative was going to support that son of a bitch after he cozied up to Obama after Sandy, and then signed off on increased gun control in NJ?

They were already not impressed with his second half of governorship. The man has had no chance since at least 2010.

Walker looks like the guy for 2016 at this point. I say that fully realizing how the game works -- the guy who wins the nom is very rarely the front runner a year beforehand, much less 3 years beforehand. A lot will happen between now and then.

Let Walker be the stealth candidate. No need to expose him to the Palinectomy the media will apply any sooner than needed.
