"Typically it’s best to leave wildlife alone....

"But...."

What do you do with the newborn squirrel you find in your bag of mulch?

A major blow to the orphan baby wildlife raising was Purina reformulating Cat Chow so that it no longer absorbed fluids.

It used to be the universal food except for baby doves and pigeons.

Soak in milk and egg yolk.

I'm sure if a good federal prosecutor and federal grand jury got together they could come up with a few felonies this good Samaritan could be indicted for.

From Wikipedia....

Western gray squirrels mate over an extended period ranging from December through June. Young are born after approximate 44 day gestation period. Juveniles emerge from nests between March and mid-August.

I'm at latitude 47, and the leaves don't start dropping until September. I'm having a hard time understanding how a baby squirrel ended up in a bag of leaves.

Adorable to all as long as it isn't a human ultrasound.
