"Survivors 'Walk Like Zombies' After Philippine Typhoon Kills Estimated 10,000."

"Super typhoon Haiyan destroyed about 70 to 80 percent of structures in its path as it tore through Leyte province on Friday.... As rescue workers struggled to reach ravaged villages along the coast, where the death toll is as yet unknown, survivors foraged for food or searched for lost loved ones."

I'm not seeing the "walk like zombies" in the article as it is presented now. It's something, to compare your fellow humans who've survived such a tragedy to imaginary monsters.

Romero style zombies, or the original Haitian variety? There's a difference. Romero style zombies run around trying to eat people like the "Walking Dead", while Haitian zombies are living but drugged unwilling slaves of the boccor.

If you wake up just before dawn and go to the beach in Leyte they say you can see the ghosts of Japanese soldiers doing close order drills until they fade away at sunrise.

Never underestimate the power of a landfalling typhoon.

That includes afterwards, news media, when you don't have information.
