"'New York Times' to New York Democrats: Get Over That 'Hope and Idealism.'"
Headline at The Nation for John Nichols's column decrying the NYT endorsement of Christine Quinn in the mayoral race.

Interesting that the article invoked John Lindsay, the man who did more than anyone else to bring New York to the edge of the abyss. If Lindsay is your lodestar you're definitely going in the wrong direction.
It says something about leftist political gamesmanship that The Nation omits any mention of Quinn's sexual orientation when they're attacking her. If they were endorsing her they'd be shouting it loud and proud.
"Idealism"? In what?
From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.
Broomhandle,
Just what struck me. Quinn would be the first female mayor of NYC and the first lesbian (married, at that!) Had The Nation endorsed her, I think the subject might possibly have been mentioned, in that discreet way that has been the pride of The Nation for as long as I've been reading it.
The interesting part is that there is daylight between the New York Times and The Nation?
The NYT endorsed the candidate I'd expect them to. I don't really know The Nation, but I don't feel the need to.
