The Washington Hawthorne has been a failure because the birds eat it all in the autumn and there's never anything left for the winter.
The Smooth Sumac has done best, not only providing the house with effective and light-weight summer shade but providing berries that the birds hate so they're always left in late winter for birds with much lower standards.

It's banned in some states as a weed.

I thought it was a Pho soup or something.
I used to grow mung bean sprouts, which never involved more than a bowl and wet paper towels.
Nothing about weather mattered.
The bunnies are harvesting all of our crops, this year.
