Meade has his computer screen open to Drudge, the right 2/3 of which looks like this right now:
It's all about smiles, as the dolphin in the lower right corner makes clear. Meade says, "Wow, George P. Bush looks like Nixon," and I say, "And Obama too... strangely." The Gore smile is waxen. For all I know the pic is of a wax depiction of the GoreBot, the ManBearPig we've come to dread.
Meanwhile, there's Leo, our new Gatsby, apparently "vibrantly alive." The word "vibrant" appears only once in "The Great Gatsby":
He felt their presence all about the house, pervading the air with the shades and echoes of still vibrant emotions.I think you know what to do with that sentence. And if not, my belief in the harmony of the universe — or the mystical shades and echoes of pink dolphins or the reliability of the Althouse commentariat — tells me that betamax3000 will show you the way.

It's hard to keep a politically connected, selfish liar down. He understands money is the measure of all things.
Does anyone believe Al Gore believes any at all in the Global Warming Doctrines that he evangelizes the brain dead with?
Yes, Al Gore did it the old-fashioned way - terrifying people with false scenarios of doom, crony capitalism, and abuse of his prestige as former Vice-President of the United States. But when the revolution comes, we know where he lives.
(Sorry, I got nothing witty to say about the Drudgetapostion)
Wow! Being the Pope of the Church of Anthropomorphic Climate Change is a pretty lucrative gig. You're entitled to indulgences like giant CO2 emitting houseboats and 10,000-square-foot mansions with a jumbo sized carbon footprints. All that and you get all that sweet moral superiority! I'm in the wrong gig.
The problem with Algore making all that money is not that he made it, but how he did so, and that was through pushing the fake AGW scare. Everything else flows from that, including the TV station that he just sold to a questionable buyer. I wouldn't be questioning the money if not for that. Billions of dollars have been squandered as a result of that scam, and he took his share off the top.
He can now afford high priced hookers instead of chasing masseuses around hotel rooms.
"sex poodle"
...just remember, $70M of Al's stash came from the carbon-enabling, Gaia-defiling oil-sheikhs at al-Jazeera.
As for the rest, y'all are just jealous you didn't get in on AAPL when Al did.
Al gore is also an uncharitable tight wad.
Al Gore is a job creator. A little more respect, please.
He felt their presence all about the house, pervading the air with the shades and echoes of still vibrant emotions.
Al Gore massaged the message from the house of learning to the movie houses, pervading the flow with the echoes of still vibrant dolphins.
Looks like George P. Bush is the next Al Gore.
Gore helped economic activity in the US like breaking windows does.
Parable of the broken window
Does Al gore have any thoughts or comments on the toxic waste that is pumped into Victoria Harbor on a daily basis? I wonder.
Can a person still play the carbon offset guilt slot game at the SF airport?
Gore is a dishonest man.
Otherwise, I'd admire him.
Well Al is a world class huckster who learned his trade from the master, "Dollar" Bill Clinton.
He is a fake and a flake. His global warming shtick was simply a way to get an investment to make him money.
Capitalist? No, he is a con artist and nothing more.
Good for old Al. Nice consolation prize for failing to grab the White House. I should think we are lucky we missed having him as our leader and these windfalls would be cheap at twice their size.
Yes, I thought of Nixon when I saw that picture of George P.!!
I wonder if he has a dog named Checkers??
McCullough,
You are just full of it.
Obscene.
Interesting how "magically" Democrat politicians get their wealth.
1. Hillary: $100,000 from her only instance of futures trading, based on non-public information
2. Rahm Emmanuel: $16M for 18 months work in investment banking, where he never had any prior experience or knowledge, but steered deals to politically favored parties at the expense of higher value for shareholders.
3. Now Gore: $200M and counting for being a "name" but knowing nothing about technology or science.
Just wait until you see the loot Obama will pull down in speaking fees, board memberships and his management fee from the OFA donations. He could easily head over $1B in short order - if he doesn't get impeached and serve time for his crimes.
While Gore's smile is pallid, his pic is in color, while the other two humans are not...
Gore and the dolphin bring vibrant colors to life... they are the good kind of rich.
While the other two are the bad kind of rich, lacking in color, dimension and substance.
The kind of rich that makes us... pretend to ourselves and to every one that fair is foul and foul is fair; for foul is useful and fair is not.
Forget the Oprah Channel. We'll get the Obama Channel, he'll probably get $1B for that alone from some wealthy Arab, just to keep the name as cover for their support and advancement for Islam.
There is only one gigantic dick in that entire screenshot. Which one do you think it is?
I always love the Warren video. Gets my blood to boil to think that she could be so stupid not to realize that with out that "factory", the jobs wouldn't exist to pay taxes and the products wouldn't exist to pay taxes to pay for all that infrastructure.
Of course she really does realize this, but it doesn't fit her kind's desire to keep the people ignorant and voting for them.
There is only one gigantic dick in that entire screenshot. Which one do you think it is?
Nice!
China has made Apple rich ... Apple has helped make Al Gore rich.
"Al Gore is a job creator. A little more respect, please."
You don't have to create jobs to get rich, a lot of people get rich killing jobs. Gore is that type of successful.
At a certain point you've made enough money.
If we only could have had an Al Gore/John Edwards administration to put trust back in government.
Al Gore, you didn't build that.
It was in the 40's last night. My wife woke up freezing and asked me if I'd left the window open.
"It's worse," I'd said. "Al Gore's motorcade just went by."
On topic, I love how ManBearPig's people tried to rationalize Kilowattgate years ago, when it was discovered that Mr. Planet used more power than 20 average families.
But when the revolution comes, we know where he lives.
It should be easy to find. It'll be lit up like a friggin' Christmas Tree (see above).
Let's see ... how many clean water wells would a small part of that put in Africa? Check with Persecution Project's 100 Wells -- or even Matt Damon's group. Or wind mills? (Where they really matter?)
After all at some point people make enough money, ya' know. And sitting in a bank it's not doing much good at all for anybody.
Maybe he could send a bunch -- a whole bunch -- of grant money over to Amy Smith's D-Lab at MIT?
Pretty much all Earth Friendly® Just like Al.
It's about the children.
Everything else flows from that, including the TV station that he just sold to a questionable buyer.
Wasn't it a bit like an anti-smoking zealot selling to a tobacco grower?
The Leftist's Dictionary
hypocrisy: a Republican feigning to be what he is not; especially the false assumption of an appearance of virtue or religion
He seems like an upstanding guy. A real good soul, and lover of the planet. He does everything he can to save us all.
No, not good for him. Al Gore is a hypocritical, money-grubbing liar. traditionalguy had him down right at the start here.
Even Michael Bloomberg added some value to the world. Al Gore has only subtracted value. He is a parasite, a leech, and a jerk.
Al Gore has only subtracted value. He is a parasite, a leech, and a jerk.
That's not true. While he did write the hypocritical tome, "Earth In The Balance," he followed up with a book people actually enjoyed, "Harry Potter And The Balance of Earth."
Al Gore provides a bulwark against ecological catastrophe...and dark wizards.
A bad joke, history will not be kind to him and the idiots who have supported him.
Poor little rich guy. He felt the presence of carbon zombies all about the house, pervading the air with shadows and stilling his vibrant emotions as he counted his millions.
That kinda dough is gonna buy quite a few chakra releases.
Cattle sales, stock options, cable TV, book sales. Seems pretty mainstream to me. It's not like he was laundering hundreds of millions for mexican cartels?
Keep trying, garage.
The Living Redwood looks kind of slimy there.
Consider his running mate.
PS George P gave a pretty good speech for his uncle at the '00 Convention, I recall, and nobody is going to say he isn't a real Hispanic.
PPS If Choom is half white and the First Black President, wouldn't that make George P who's also half white, but whose Mamacita was born in Guanajuato the First Hispanic President?
Or does that only work if you're a Demo?
Notice how somehow, someway, Al Gore's wealth is not "off the backs of workers" or otherwise ill-gotten.
Gee, I wonder why that is?
When I grow up I want to create a climate scare and make millions off the carbon trading schemes...said no one ever.
Or does that only work if you're a Demo?
The actual places and people don't matter. It's the shade of your skin that really matters to them.
It goes without saying that he has private, armed security and likely has a cache of weapons and ammunition for his personal use. I mean, that's a lot of dough to protect when you're not saving the planet.
George P. Bush bears a striking likeness to the young Richard Nixon.
Al Gore wants to put us all in his belly.
Al Gore got rich as an environmental shake-down artist.
In the exact same way that Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton got rich as racial shake-down artists.
"Just wait until you see the loot Obama will pull down in speaking fees,..."
He gives such good speeches too, all about how young people should ignore anyone who warns them about government tyranny.
Vibrating ghost adventurers
wouldn't you love to know Gore's effective tax rate and how much he donates to charity?

Willie got away with it because of the illusion of peace and prosperity during his Administration.
Times are lousy now, they'll be worse in 4 years, and ObamaTax will so stigmatize the Demos, even they won't want to be tied to him.
Pig theme?
Pig theme? Naw, that would include a hippo, not a dolphin.
Garage says algore is a job creator. I am unsure how making $700 for every $7 he invested in Apple thus reaping a $30 million profit creates jobs. Nor am I sure exactly how his carbon credits company, which is ripping off the world, created a single job. I would rather guess that he caused some jobs to go away as is happening in the coal mining industry.
Billy Jeff gave 70-odd speeches in the first six months after leaving office @ an estimated $350,000 per each.
I don't think this was just for the pearls of wisdom he might utter.
Notice how somehow, someway, Al Gore's wealth is not "off the backs of workers" or otherwise ill-gotten.
Gee, I wonder why that is?
Cause we borrowed his money from our kids?
The man knows how to make money, more than you can say for Gerorge W. Bush, who knew how to spend it on unfunded wars and tax cuts for the wealthy. Just think of how much richer our country could be if Gore were to have been President instead of Bush.
Drudge has now replaced Al Gore's face with the face of a cicada.
Which, frankly, looks more human.
Algore created jobs in China... is what he did.
But then, so did Obama.
The Romney "lie of the year" turned out true...
Don't you hate when that happens?

The man made his money off political connections and bullshit. If not for his connections that arose from his political career he would be nowhere. At least W made his money before going in to politics. And speaking of unfunded spending howzabout we stop funding LBJ's War On Poverty and lets end Crony Capitalism for democrat donors and supporters. As for tax rate reduction which is what W help put in place that is different than an actual tax cut, but then you would actually have to be a taxpayer to understand that.

There's a big difference between making it and bilking it - which is what the Living Redwood did.
And that war was no more unfunded than Little Zero's nor his stimulus nor his healthcare nor Willie's subprime mortgage scheme.
As for the tax cuts, everybody got their piece, I know I got mine - Poly Woly Doodle probably doesn't pay any.
Just think of how much richer our country could be if Gore were to have been President instead of Bush.
You mean like all the money wasted on Green Energy we've seen the last 5 years? The money the Living Redwood and Willie wasted on Peace Dividends? The money the Living Redwood and Willie on Wagging the Dog?
That money?
Looks like we have a new village idiot.
Why would anyone want to listen to any politician?
Speaking fees are proof that there are too many pointless meetings that people go to.
"Why would anyone want to listen to any politician?"
No one is going there to hear Gore speak.
The payment is for other services rendered, past or future. Usually access to someone.
Garage says algore is a job creator.
I agree with garage. That annual utility usage at his 20,000 sq ft estate at -- Great Gaia!-- 20x-avg-housheholds' has the coal companies and Nashville Power&Light adding hours and shifts.
Al Gore figured he could win the election. Rip off the public with his foolish "cap and trade" crap, then when the climate stabilized he could claim a victory.
Turns out that the climate stabilized without cap & trade. Not to mention that the US of A managed to lower CO2 emissions without resorting to carbon taxes.
Amazing!
I just realized the relationship between Drudge posting the picture of Al Gore and then posting the picture of the cicada.
They're both humbugs.
1st 4 commenters pretty much sum it up....hypocrite, huckster, hustler, fraud...in the best tradition of the American Robber Barons.

OH yeah, lefty dimwit shows up with stale, 8 year old talking points!
So knowledgeable!
So intellectual!
I love the "unfunded wars" stuff. That is a laugh riot.
I have a rule based on experience that people who use the terms:
"Off the backs of workers"
"Tax cuts for the rich"
"Bush lied"
"Fair share"
Have no credibility, understanding of economics, nor are to be taken seriously.
Garage says algore is a job creator. I am unsure how making $700 for every $7 he invested in Apple thus reaping a $30 million profit creates jobs
Nonsense. All rich people are Job Creators. We need to 1.) give them more tax breaks 2.) start talking nicer about them.
Money and jobs will be raining from sky if we could just treat them better.
Gerorge W. Bush, who knew how to spend it on unfunded wars and tax cuts for the wealthy. Just think of how much richer our country could be if Gore were to have been President instead of Bush.
Oh, and FYI, Gore was a proponent of the Saddam has WMD idea.
duh.
All rich people are Job Creators
Oh look, the clown who posted a link to GW's home claiming it was Al Gore's actually has showed up here pasting straw men.
Shocking development.
Totally shocking.
Not to mention that the US of A managed to lower CO2 emissions without resorting to carbon taxes.
Amazing what a recession can do!
Oh look, the clown who posted a link to
Skewed!

Do you cry like a giant entitled child on the dust bunny corners of the left blogs you haunt too? You know what Althouse has become for you, Bitch Tit? It's become the confessional to your petty envy's and jealousy's.
I can't believe garagie would show his face in a thread about Al Gore after posting a link to a photo of GW's home trying to say it was Gore's - because it was so environmentally friendly.
I would also think the same person who claimed within the last week that Albert Einstein was a product of America's public schools would go off in embarrassment.
Garagie, persists, however.
You know what Althouse has become for you, Bitch Tit?
Dude isn't it obvious why I come here? Hasn't it always been obvious?
It's YOU! Yes you, Methadras! You're one charming guy. Don't EVER change on me either!
Why, that's funny garage, because I come here for YOU.
Where else can I talk to what I imagine to be a crusty union guy sitting in a lawn-chair staring out at the world, dutifully throwing out trollish comments?
As for Al Gore, below that polished, wooden, Democrat party royalty exterior is a carbon credit salesman, still sticking his finger into the political winds, seeking to remain relevant. There's a would be, third -ate poet living in Clinton's shadow, a climate change proselytizer, a believer in technology and someone who stays up on it, a Southern Baptist preacher and moralizer.
Beneath that is probably just a kind of lonely man (hungry, apparently), embittered at losing the Presidency, a 'sex-crazed poodle,' divorced, looking for meaning in all the wrong places.
People with less to be proud of and to work at in their own lives are so much more interested in yours.
There's always something a little off about people who go for the brass ring, and the glory. Especially when they keep trying for it.
Where else can I talk to what I imagine to be a crusty union guy sitting in a lawn-chair staring out at the world, dutifully throwing out trollish comments?
I've never been in a union in my life.
Hehehehehee let's see how many MN businesses stand with Gov. Walker, via PowerLine:
Our budget train wreck stems from the fact that our current one-party government wants to boost spending for 2014-15 by about 10 percent....
Legislators also intend to shower public employees with goodies. The Senate has approved a 35 percent pay raise for lawmakers. Public employees’ new contract will cost $174 million in new spending—thanks to pay increases and the fact that public employees still pay zero percent of the cost of their individual health insurance premiums.
Welfare-related spending will also go up. Minnesota already spends more per low-income person on public support than any other state except Alaska, according to a recent report from Center of the American Experiment, where I am a senior fellow. This disparity suggests that a careful reconsideration of benefit and eligibility levels is in order....
I said, "I imagine."
Don't ruin the dream. It makes it all the more difficult to imagine you believe much of anything but talking points and liberal bromides, or just in your own trollish task at hand.
Hehehehehee let's see how many MN businesses stand with Gov. Walker, via PowerLine:
MN businesses are probably laughing at WI being dead last in short term job growth. Dead.Last.
Infinite, based out of MN, is also probably laughing at getting awarded the contract for school informational software systems over a Wisconsin company, Skyward.
so when's walker getting indicted, garage?
He could easily head over $1B in short order - if he doesn't get impeached and serve time for his crimes.
You mean "especially if he gets impeached..."
Monica rallied the Dems to Clinton better than Hillary! ever could have. Without her, there'd have been one scandal after another his last 3 years in office, until he was damaged goods to everyone.
What are you talking about GM?
IL is in the negative category, not WI.
Madison Man:
Amazing what a recession can do!
Actually, the number one reason for US lowering C02 was the lower costs of natural gas, followed by the recession, followed by regulations.
Funny how all this anti-fracking thing could actually make the US produce more C02. But, with the greens, the only way to solve environmental problems is there way.
And that means giving up control of your land, paying more for energy, and subsidizing those who can't afford energy.
The free market at work. $200 million for doing nothing. Just know the right people. Wink, wink.
If only those 7-11 clerks would get off there duffs and work like Al Gore, they'd be worth 200 million.

No, maybe not, but they certainly have been in you.
Febreze Fitzgerald says:
"He felt the Tropical Flower presence all about the house, pervading the air with the shades and echoes of still vibrant emotions. And Coconut."
Febreze Fitzgerald says:
"Febreze blew through the room, blew curtains of scent sensations at one end and out the other like flags: it smelled like Peach Mango. Of course, Frosted Wedding-Cake and Ritzy Wine-Colored Rug scents are available, too!"
Febreze Fitzgerald says:
"With Great Gatsby Febreze there will always be a Ripe Mystery in your home with new Ripe Mystery scent, a hint of bedrooms up-stairs more beautiful and cool than other bedrooms, each with their own gay and radiant Febreze aromas."
Febreze Fitzgerald says:
"Sometimes, in my mind, I followed them to their apartments on the corners of hidden streets and they turned and smiled back at me before they faded through a door into the warm welcome of Egyptian Vanilla Febreze."
Febreze Fitzgerald says:
"At the enchanted metropolitan twilight I smelled a Haunting Loneliness sometimes, and smelled it in others — poor young clerks who loitered in front of windows waiting until it was time for a solitary restaurant dinner — young clerks in the dusk, wasting the most poignant moments of night and life without the right Fragrance: do not let Haunting Loneliness be YOUR scent."
And -- of course:
Febreze Fitzgerald says:
"He went out of the room calling 'Ewing!' and returned in a few minutes accompanied by an embarrassed, slightly worn young man, with shell-rimmed glasses, scanty blond hair and a fresh Frebreze Re-Fill cartridge.
The lesson: Don't Be an Ewing: always keep a fresh supply of Febreze close at hand."
The "Febreze" connection is an easy one to fall into: much of the Fitzgerald sentences detail clothing, trappings of luxury, furniture, etc, with the vibrancy of a commercial -- or a luxe fashion magazine ad.
Back in the halycon days of the Gatsby Posts I had written a long-winded (more than normal) comment that I never posted; it followed how Gatsby has pervaded our Culture not through the book itself, but through advertising.
Perhaps if Ann does a post about the movie I will dig it out. Or show mercy to scroll-wheels everywhere and NOT dig it out. Mileage varies, etc etc.
@Madman, not to mention the lower cost of cleaner-burning natural gas, thanks to fracking.
