"Kerry defends liberties, says Americans have 'right to be stupid.'"

Lucky for him.

Typical rich bastard, always looking out for his own interests.

He bicycled over to East Berlin?
Is it a bike ride that was seared, seared into his memory?

Anyone else think that's a lie?

The transcript makes it look like a Millian (?) defense of freedom of speech. A lot better than Obama and Hillary did over Benghazi.

If Kerry keeps this up, I might grow to like him.

Nomennovum said...

I think the Right to be Stupid can be found in the Bill of Rights, right between the Right to Free Speeches and the Right to Bare Arms. Right perfesser?

cubanbob said...

Well that certainly explains his election to the Senate.

What Kerry omits from his comment (in which he is actually correct about) is the responsibility of the stupid and foolish to suffer the consequences of their stupidity and foolishness. If the stupid and foolish were held accountable for their behavior most government spending on 'needs' and 'entitlements' would not be necessary.

Kerry will be a pompous ass until he's dead.

Actually he is right.

Somebody should mention that to Cass Sunstein.

Kepp your hands off my right to be stupid. And my religion. And my guns. And everything else in The Bill Of Rights.

According to Kerry, I thought the stupid "get stuck" fighting in Iraq?

lemondog said...

Why the word stupid.

Why is there always a derogatory spin? Is this an administration sickness, or is it that he is not bright enough to put liberty in a postive light?

How difficult is it to say that Americans have the right to voice contrary views, opinions and objections?

Oh, look it’s Senator Kerry!
Now State Secretary and oh-so merry.
An intellectual runt,
and kind of a cunt.
He shames us in front of jerry.

Lurch forgot to tell these students about how those "stupid" Americans rebuilt their country and have protected their assess for 60 years!

I also remember something call the Berlin Air Lift!

We've also been "stupid" enough to buy their products!

We ARE INDEED a bunch of dumbasses!

Correction: 70 years!!

For once, Kerry is telling the truth. Americans have obviously exercised that right in 2012, that put Kerry to where he is today.

Wonder if he still has the hat.

..sneaking across to East Berlin with his bike

One day, using my diplomatic passport

So, he wasn't sneaking! He was a 12-year-old boy with a diplomatic passport??

Which one is it?? Yeah...I know, the whole thing is a lie. The man has no shame, and he thinks you're an idiot.

Actually the right to be stupid comes from the Bible. It's right after the part about not coveting your neighbor's wife's ass.

Kennedy might have proclaimed "I am a jelly donut", but Kerry has the brains of one.

Kerry also said Americans have the right to be disconnected. You have to translate from the liberal playbook, where disconnected equals individualist, unwilling to join the much higher collective life form. So, for now, liberals still have to tolerate disconnectedness. But not for much longer because we're getting pretty sick and tired of those retrograde disconnected individualists and we're gonna MAKE THEM JOIN soon.

Props to Kerry for defending free speech abroad.

I'll keep that in mind, Mr. Secretary.

Kudos to Kerry.  It shows he gets what it means to be an American.  Maybe with that we won't have stupid comments from State on videos.

Which should start getting easier in 2017. You know, when the fools morons like phx support get tossed out of office.

Even the mediocre deserve representation in the State Department.

The opposition is stupid but, hey, that's their right. Of course he made it sound like he was defending fringe free speech, sort of.

In Berlin he must feel like he's speaking to his home crowd. The love bombing those pinkos gave BO made me hopeful at the time that the only thing that could elect McCain might be what I was watching on TV. What a sign of hopeless desperation, that anyone should prefer McCain to BO.

We were going to get plastered with stupid (to steal his word), smug and patronizing (to expand a little) no matter what. Same thing last year. Same as it ever was.

Cambodia, it was Cambodia.

That should be seared, seared into your memory.

No no no, ya great bumbling stupid oaf. There's no "right" to be stupid, there's no positive right, just for Amurkins to be stupid (ie., Amurkin) any more than there is for anyone else anywhere else.

Slandering Americans and mischaracterizing the relationship between them and their government all in the service of groveling for approval and cheap larfs in Europe.

Our Secretary of State.
Brougt to you by the Party of the Stupid.

Since there is no qualification, is this remark directed to all Americans, or just those most likely to denigrate individual dignity, devalue human life, and thereby sponsor corruption? That is those Americans who vote for redistributive or retributive change, and choose to abort their progeny when they are deemed to be inconvenient.

Is this the first time that a Democrat politician has publicly acknowledged that violating individual rights and embracing evolutionary dysfunction is stupid?

This begs the question, what, exactly, are they teaching in the schools. The directives of the natural order are largely self-evident and the need for temperance of a moral order seems to be equally obvious. The selective nonsense advocated by our contemporary society is indeed stupid and primarily serves the interests of a minority.
