"... I would have had trouble reconciling the city's layout with a man impaled on a bedpost."
A comment at The Daily Mail has the distinction of being the first thing that made me laugh out loud in 2013. (Please forgive me!)

Sounds like a lot of impaling going on. Who knew?
It's OK, you probably hadn't seen the glad tidings that Hef Handsome married a woman 60 years his junior.
To quote Dr Robert Campbell, "It'll be a miracle he survives the honeymoon. I take my hat off to ye, girl".
Probably another case of chewing gum deposition gone wrong.
Back in the 1950s, didn't there used to be a car with big chrome pointy things on the front end called the Impala?
The comment about everything in Australia wanting to kill you was also good.
And who knew that a sheep BBQ apparatus explosion had also caused an impalement?
The Daily Mail...source of all knowledge.
I was greatly afraid he had impaled himself elsewhere.
MtBat, in England those were called Dagmars, after an actress of that name with a pair of them herself.
Having the map made more sense to me than the photo of the hospital.
Having lived in Canberra, I cannot see the relevance of the map :).
Reid is one of the inner city suburbs these days because Canberra itself has increased in size.
Some things are not clear in the report, such as how long it took for the emergency vehicles to get to the residence, and then how long it took for the ambulance to take him to Canberra Hospital (Woden Valley Hospital by another name). It would have been a made dash to the hospital!!
What amazed me about the report is the mention of some many people impaling themselves.
I know Canberra is full of kooks, and hot air... but....

Don't spoil the party! The map really did make sense. -:)
