The arrogance... the stupidity... If you're going to be arrogant+stupid, watch out for the idiosyncratic punctuation:
[T]here were multiple instances in which the online comments and Mann's pleadings contained an extra space after a closing quotation mark and before the final punctuation period. Other similarities included the lack of spaces before and after the dots used to designate an ellipse.

Grammar police.
When I go trolling, I'm always careful to disguise my perfect prose with misspellings and bad punctuation. I even use a single space after a period! My typing teacher would be so ashamed.
Letten's excellent down here. Too bad his subordinates couldn't be cut from the same cloth. Both of them were embarassments.
Oh please. Who really expects ethical conduct any more? Especially from lawyers? Ethics are for chumps and losers.
If you aren't an experienced white or black hat hacker, or otherwise an expert in cyber security, there is no way your anonymity can be protected from someone armed with a subpoena.
I've been through this when one of my client's was hacked by an ex-employee. The FBI went in to one of his places of part-time employment (a local University) and came out with a pallet full of syslogs.
Everything you do online leaves a trace. The only question is how hard someone wants to look to follow those traces.
This reminds me of the LA Times writer Hiltzik and his use of sockpuppets. I guess ethics doesn't apply to newspaper reporters.
The Obama thugocracy, as Michael Barone put it.

Didn't John Lott do this too? After he published his book, was it More Guns Less Crime?
believe you meant ellipsis
Maybe she meant "eclipse". A pointilist could designate an eclipse with spotty irony.
why does she still have a job?

How very ... UGLY
No way I'll be caught like that! All my mistakes are random and and meaninless. Like that.
I wisk bloggers would rule out the use of psuedonyms. Really. If you're going to post something do it pubiclly in your own name. What? Are you ashamed of your opinion? Do you fear retribution? Do you want to perform a virtual mugging then hide?
Most of my typos are becuase the keys move arounf occassionally. Like that.

Why would Letten's job be under fire if it was his subordinate's doing it outside of office hours?
The only thing that comes to mind is that possibly he didn't stress that they shouldn't being doing it, etc.
And Professor?
The Dylan show was the best show of his I've ever seen. He was in good voice, the band was great, the sould was excellent, he REALLY revised some of his songs - Tangled up in Blue, Chimes of Freedom - and who knew that Bob could play jazz piano?
Ah but Letten's office is in New Orleans -- where the DA's attorneys claimed ignorance of the Brady Rule resulting in several defendants sent to Death Row after being wrongfully convicted of murder.
Louisiana does not have the brightest or most ethical lawyers working for the government.
"Louisiana does not have the brightest or most ethical lawyers working for the government."
Universal problem.
LHogan: I would post under my own name but for the fact that anyone can google it and find my address, place of business, etc.
I don't want some random internet jerkoff showing up at my door pissed off about something I blogged about five years earlier.
@ Crunchy Frog,
That's why we have the second amendment.

If Patterico thought like this he might be dead. And the same jerkoff targeted someone else because of comments posted at DailyKos. We have a right to own a gun and to self defense. But it's still prudent to take steps so those rights aren't the last barrier between you and death.
It would seem to me that if it is not unethical for me to post something, then it is not unethical for a prosecutor to post it either, provided that she does not identify herself as a prosecutor. Which, it appears, she took pains not to do. Unless she used information that was not public knowledge, I don't see why she doesn't have the same right to rant online as the rest of us.

I, too, love the misuse of the word "ellipse" instead of "ellipsis."

JAN MANN THANK YOU MA'AM!
Crunchy Frog: Why fear? If some whacked out Internet punk shows up have the appropriate response in your hand.
I've noticed that people tend to be more civil. thoughtful and careful in their commenting if they know that others know who they are. Including me.
i betses LHogan hasf in unlisssed phune nummer
