"The Chicago teachers' strike has ended after the union voted to return to work on Wednesday..."

"... according to delegates at a union meeting," according to CNN "breaking news" email just now.

I think Solly and da boys finally got the point across.

I wonder who sleeps in Lake Michigan tonight?

So now Chicago's kids return from their moment of learning something to sitting in classrooms with obese lesbians to learn union protest songs.

No wonder Illinois is a basket case.

Chi-town schools spend fewer hours with students than any big city school system in the country.

I notice the media refuses to shed light on contract details and teacher raises.

Is it any wonder Chicago children rate so low in reading and mathematics with this communist tools at the helm of their education? Oh that's right, it's a proven fact that teachers unions don't give a crap about children.

I live in IL, Tim, we're getting out as soon as we can.

"I live in IL, Tim, we're getting out as soon as we can."

On my mother's side, my grandfather was from Chicago (his mother too); my grandmother from Watseka; on my father's side, his father was from Peoria, and his mother from Charleston. I've spent a lot of time in Illinois, both in Chicago and downstate; like California, bad government destroys good places.

Liberals never figure out that in seeking utopia, they create dystopia.

PS: Seeing Red, sorry bad government is chasing you away. That's a shame. And, of course, it will be worse for you leaving.

Look at this face, see the scumbag for what she is. Understand that she doesn't give two fucks about children or what they learn. This is who is in charge, not Rahm, not, Urkel, but this, this giant walking human thumb. Pressing itself on the necks of your children in Chicago and elsewhere.

We actually toyed with the idea of moving to Indiana and him living at him mom's during the week, coming home on the weekends.

It is an exceptionally stupid belief, as stupid and lazy as the inner city kids in Chicago actually are...that Magic Superteachers can coax, inspire them to learn.

The problem is not with the teachers. Some are good, but they are still basically government employees that have a job, and want more goodies.

Pissing money away on Superteachers with super degrees and believing that ANY CHILD can learn to the highest level is a crock.

The truth is those kids and their parents are barely metally competent enough to go into a foeld and pick beans or cotton...and even that requires motivators..like if they don't they go hungry.

The best proof the Teachers are not even key players in education are the Asian, African, Euro refugee kids that have attended the same "lousy schools with lousy teachers" and managed to get a fine education and a ticket out of the slums.

There goes Rahm's hopes for the presidency once the details of the contract are revealed alongside the projected $1 B deficit the terms will help create.

As de Maistre remarked, chicago dwellers deserve the schools they get.

And, of course, the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard

So, I assume the union won.

Al Shanker, AFT union founder -- I'll care about the children when they start paying union dues.

Back to work, cranking out an 80% reading illiteracy rate.

For that, we demand no merit pay considerations. Just give us 30% more and shut up.

Its for the children!

"According to the latest annual report of the Chicago Teachers Pension Fund, the average teacher who retired in 2011 after 30 or more years of employment—what passes for a full career in the public sector—had a final salary of $105,888 and will receive an annual guaranteed pension of $78,576. "
