"Jill Stein, Green Party presidential nominee, arrested."

Trespassing.

Protesting.

Boring.

It worked. Now I know that there's a Green Party candidate.

It's a waste of government's resources for people to coduct themselves so that they are purposely arrested, as if the arrest itself were protected speech.

I would love to see some of these people get jail time of six months to a year, and longer for a second offense.

Jill Stein also ran for governor of Massachusetts. I've heard her speak and read her position papers. I don't agree with all of her positions, but I can assure you she's a great deal more intelligent and less of a lefty hack than Obama's Mini-Me sitting in the State House right now.

It would me much more boring if the candidate had been Roseanne Barr.

She looks sort of like Elizabeth Warren. Maybe Warren can exercise her First Amendment rights and get arrested too.

It's always nice to hear what "freedom-loving" Americans really think about freedom.

In their profiles you see "liberty" "freedom" "Constitution" "America".

What it all means is freedom for them.

In other news, I shit in the toilet today. I wish these damn hippies would die off so we don't have to see these self-righteous douches making their "moral victories" anymore.

Another delightful bon mot from a true American.

Right.

Because "freedom" means you get to trespass, at will.

Fucking moron.

Yes its always correct to arrest pompous assholes grandstanding by violating the law to make a point.
Simply protesting peacfully on the sidewalk wasn't sufficently dramatic.

Another progressive hottie!

They are such a type. Bezerkely and Oakland are filled with them and they all look like this hag. Mad at the world because they are butt ugly.

Hey, I walked right into that protest yesterday and didn't even realize that I was glaring at a presidential candidate.

I park in that building, and there were police blocking the doors, and lots of people milling about. I thought it was a false fire alarm, or bomb scare or something--until I saw some old hippy guy carrying a sign.

When I went to the door, I asked the cop if there was a problem in the building, or just controlled access because of idiot protesters. He just smiled and said "controlled access."

Oh, and Garage,

For me, Freedom means being able to get home to see my family after a day at work, and not being held up for an hour while dipshit protesters form a human chain across the central artery in the city during rush hour.

And the idiot Left wonders why no pays any attention to them. Repellent behavior repels.

It's a unlearnable concept for these assholes.

Good thing this country wasn't founded by modern conservatives.

What happened to Roseanne?

Wasn't she psycho enough to head the Greens ticket?

But does she have a hoity toity horse?

Well, Robert Cook, I'm sure yuou would have no problem with righties blocking access to an abortion clinic, citing their right to free speech, right? The Left are children who have never grown up. Their moral position consists of "what I want right this minute."

The article doesn't say what this fine upstanding guardian of the moral order wants FNMA to do or not do. But ACORN and others of the hard-Left ilk staged similar protests at Fannie and at numerous banks, in the 70s, 80s and 90s, trying to get them to lend money to people who couldn't afford to pay the loans back, otherwise known as "subprime" loans. They were obviously massively successful in their efforts. Of course, in their blinding moral clarity and intellectual honesty thay now call those very loans "predatory" loans and are incensed that the lenders actually expect to ever have them repaid.

These people think they have the right to break any laws they wish, but that the police and everyone else should act with impeccable respect for every possible rule.

It seems to me that the Supreme Court has ALWAYS recognized reasonable time, place, and manner restrictions on free speech.

If a person is arrested, it's usually because those boundaries are crossed.

But to INTENTIONALLY conduct oneself to be arrested with the notion that the arrest itself is some kind of "speech" is abusive and wrong. It's just juvenile narcissism being acted out by grown-ups who aren't acting like adults.

That this kind of nonsense is embraced as some fine old tradition by progressives just shows how intellectually vacuous the left is.

Robert Cook said...

Citizens who choose to protest in such a manner that will likely result in their arrest know what they're doing, and being arrested is part of the point of their actions. I applaud them for their conviction and courage.

(Protest that doesn't upset public order or the status quo is no protest at all.)

However, when jingoistic yahoos wish greater punishment upon those engaging in protest than what may actually be imposed, their true feelings about our first amendment protections are revealed: they hold these protections in contempt.

You really don't understand the First Amendment, do you?

Only a moron would draw any comparison whatsoever between the matters Jill Stein and her coven were protesting and the founding of the nation. To do so is a significant insult to the patriots who founded the nation, but don't let that step on your idiotic snark.

To think the real Tea Party blocked a port, seized a private ship, threw private goods overboard, in costume, while beating drums.

Today's Tea Party protests for billionaires best interests, i.e. low wages, shit benefits, no work representation, dirty air and water.

Paul said...

So protesting against unsustainable deficit spending, unconstitutional government over-reach and corruption = billionaires best interests, i.e. low wages, shit benefits, no work representation, dirty air and water.

It's hard to tell whether colossal stupidity or terminal maliciousness is your most salient feature.

Robert Cook said...

Well, Paul...what, exactly, has the present day "Party of Tea" actually protested, and when, where, and how?

Oh...they voted into office some (more) ultra-right wing Republicans, who pandered to their complaints, and are trusting in these minions of capital to put things aright?

NotWhoIUsedtoBe said...

I'd rather have a job than no job, while other people get all the nice benefits.

Working 25 hours because some law discourages an employer from paying for more is a real drag. This has happened to me twice, and part time employment is much closer to exploitation than full- or over- time with no benefits. I had to quit both times to get more hours somewhere else.

People who don't understand this are ignorant. There's what we'd like, and then there is what actually happens. Employers are going to spend on wages what they feel they can afford, and if they can't do one full time worker that means a part-timer trying to do the same job in half the time. Failing to see such an obvious consequence of benefit legislation can only be explained by stupidity or as a payout to established workers.

I'd rather just work. That's why I'm at a restaurant.

But hey, I'll be under 30 hours again soon. Thanks, Obamacare!

Climb out of your cave once in awhile and see for yourself. It's not like there hasn't been adequate coverage. Of course you might need the internet to find accurate coverage, but since you're making inane comments here obviously you have access to it.

Boring.

At the coffee shop the other day a guy from an SEIU group was telling a photographer where all the protests and photo-ops will be in Tampa during the GOP convention.

The photographer had the same reaction as Althouse. She said, "everyone has seen protest photos", and wanted pictures of something else.

The activist didn't get it though, and kept trying to push stunts he thought would go viral.
