Not a protester was stirring, but the media were there.
The microphones were set up next to the CNN tour bus...
In the hope local politicos would soon kick up a fuss.
When out by the monument, there arose such a clatter,
Meade sprang from his B-Cycle to see what was the matter.
He grabbed for his iPhone and opened the app,
Looked for the shutter and started to snap.
With a lovely lady driver, so lively and quick,
She was smoking what some folks call a cancer stick.
So up to Heg's statue the Freedom Van drew,
With flowers and angels and a militant capitalist smoker too.
It was Lynda all in blue from her head to her foot,
And these clothes were not tarnished with ashes and soot.
Her friend wore Clay Matthews' number 52 on her back,
Who is Clay Matthews? He's one of The Pack!
The stump of a cigarette Lynda held in her teeth,
And the smoke it encircled her head like a wreath.
She had a sweet face and a cute little belly,
That shook when she laughed, like a bowl full of jelly!
"The truth shall make you free," the van bumper said.
And that gave Meade to know he had nothing to dread.
"Vote Walker for Governor" — then, 'cause she's one of those jokers,
She wrote: "But Walker, please keep promises to smokers."
Meade sprang to his bike, and he rang the little bell,
And away Meade then flew like a bat out of hell.
Lynda heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight,
"Let Walker finish his term, and to all a good-night!"

Heh. Pretty cool.
Militant Capitalist Smoker
Love it.
..but wait! What about the love Child and Walker's impending arrest for some abstract made-up nothingness? It could be true, and that's all that matters.
meanwhile the Barrett bees
go do or to door
saying Dead eys no more
and Packer players tweet
Walker we must defeat!
Which one(s) of the big MSM stars will be there tomorrow?
Dasher? Dancer? Prancer? Vixen? Commie? Stupid? Donna? Blitzer?
Today I was driving north on 27th St. in Milwaukee. Across the street from the Mitchell Park Domes was a home all decked out in red, white and blue patriotic bunting, flags (both US and Mexican) and Barrett signs. However, two US flags were laid flat on the ground as part of the decorations, rather than being properly displayed on flagpoles. Maybe I am old fashioned, but that is not, to my way of thinking, the proper way to display the US flag.
I see a ride like that and figure they're trying to convince themselves as much as anyone else.

Twas the night before Scott Walker Recall Day, at the Capitol Square.
Not a protester was stirring, but the media were there.
Cavuto was there at one point and there were a couple of union slugs, one of them blowing a vuvuzela, and I, of course, thought of you and last summer's adventure.
If only to make Madison safe for genteel lady blogger professors would I want this nonsense to end with such finality that the Lefties give it up and stick their horns someplace permanently.
..but wait! What about the love Child and Walker's impending arrest for some abstract made-up nothingness? It could be true, and that's all that matters.
Walker will be released on bail tomorrow so that he can vote pending sentencing.

Smokers! Finally, Dry Land.
Don't worry honey, Wisconsin will soon look very much like your state. It prit near is gittin there already!
Wisconsintucky!
Yeeeehaaaw.
9 out of 10 people say, "The truth shall 'SET' you free, which is incorrect. "The truth shall 'MAKE' you free" is the correct quote. Her bumper sticker is correct.
This one of my pet peeves. Thanks for the indulgence
In Madison, even the Republicans are hippies.
Neat.
Epic, I think the youngsters say.
Althouse, very clever!
Right wing activists always have a sense of humor.
@ chickelit, best laugh all day!
Commie? Stupid? Donna? Blitzer?
So many MSMers come to mind.
Hey! Is that smoker lady Pink Dress Guy's mom?
Don't care what the political persuasion or religion, nothing screams SSI-Disability or nut-case like an auto plastered all over with bumper stickers and messages.
Very clever indeed.
Its an installment on Cracks entertainment.
Just getting a little ahead for tomorrow...)
Oh, somewhere in this Liberal land the Occupy folks march by;
The President's playing golf somewhere, and somewhere taxes are high,
And online the Left goes LOL, and gas prices make men shout;
But there is no joy in Madison— mighty unions... have... struck... out.
Roach Voltage sez Walker's gonna kill the deer.
Nicotine keeps the Alzheimers and the Parkinsons away.
So what are Walker's promises to Smokers? Are they distinguishable from his promises to non-Smokers?
SO just say Thank you to her, for the taxes she's paid, thank God she's still free to make choices she's made. She's one of the things this great country's about, so just vote for Walker and don't throw him out.
I know it's a little lame, but it was a spur of the moment thing.
Fifty, what Ann did was above and beyond, but that was beautiful.
PS Surber used to have a village idiot who called himself daveyboy. I think daveyboy has reincarnated himself here as Bailey.
PPS and very OT, but I won't get the chance otherwise: A big salute to the United States Navy on the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Midway.
Keep 'em flyin'
I am not fooled. You say it's the night before the election, but those pictures were clearly taken around noon, based on the Sun angle and the lack of clouds in the sky.
Reminds me of the Far Side cartoon: "How nature says 'don't touch'"
Not the message I don't like, I just don't trust people with bumper stickers. There was a guy around here who drove around with his/her car entirely covered in Kucinich bumper stickers.
Kucinich.
She can smoke in the alley, she can smoke in her van. She can't smoke in the restaurant or sneak a drag in the can.
She can hang out her window and say "hey, what sup?". but don't let Nanny Bloomberg catch her
with a 17 oz cup.
Waiting at Milwaukee's Serb-American Hall in Milwaukee. Walker is set to speak at 10:00. News trucks everywhere. People pouring into the building, which is huge.
Well done!
I wish you good luck tomorrow and hope you are all fired up and ready to go for a day of reporting!
Stay safe out there.
There are three protest goofs outside across thre street
Fox News did most of its last 4 hours on Walker, Wisconsin and the showdown at High Noon Tuesday.
It makes great news with hope and change possible at last. The effect is also to remove the Axelrod Story lines and the Romney story lines from the 24/7 BS meters on cable TV. That was refreshing.
And Walker was very personable and easy going...much more than Mitt. He may get a future national GOP role out of all this.
One of her signs says she is boycotting all smoking ban states. Does that mean she ain't spending any $$$ while in Wisconsin?
That aside, when running for Governor he said he was against the smoking ban but since being elected he stated that he changed his mind and is now against repealing that law.
Playing "don't stop believing" by journey while waiting.
I predict that Scott Walkers smoking policy will be one large Red Auerbach Victory Cigar this time tomorrow.
Very upbeat and friendly mood. Lots of happy people in the room. Everyone dressed like normal people. Only one weird hat. More diversity than a Capitol rally
LOL!
What a fabulous... vehicle. (I'm really not sure what it is under all of that!)
Bless the lady.
Getting started. Brad courtney of wi GOP warming up the crowd. Introducing kleefisch.

How about a pool guessing the last county to report in and at what time? I predict Milwaukee County after Midnight. I think in the primary it was some ward in Racine County that was last, and in Milwaukee was 2nd last.
Walker showed up right at 10
Hey, TosaGuy! Attaway!
This is the most fired up I've seen walker. His voice is about done though.
Lots of Seig Heil salutes at the Walker shindig I bet.
"Lots of Seig Heil salutes at the Walker shindig I bet."
Why would conservatives give a socialist salute? That's an odd thing to expect.
No swig hails but there is more diversity than a dem rally at the Capitol
Her friend wore Clay Matthews' number 52 on her back,
Who is Clay Matthews? He's one of The Pack!
Has Clay Matthews...or any of the Packers...came out in support of Scott Walker? A few of the Green&Gold have spoken out against him and his policies.
All done. Lots of hand shaking. Playing "life is a highway". Auto correct for seig evidentially is swig
Auto correct for seig evidentially is swig
Swig heil is appropriate for Milwaukee.
About 30 protest goofs outside being goofs. Standard hey hey hey ho ho stuff
More like swig bier.
Please tell me they served more than bottled water.
Swig heil is appropriate for Milwaukee.
LOL!
And PP, why did you just delete that photo of Democrat Knights In White Satin?
At Barrett rallies in Milwaukee, the party faithful shout "Swig Bile!"
Dueling chants in the parking lot by both sides. The dens marched to parking lot by the main entrance. All pretty benign. Walker folks laughing at them
Today our Governor, and great leader of the people, Jerry Brown said that Californians need to stop being negative about our great high speed train project and just "Suck it up."
That's leadership, you pussies!
@bag: 24 people on the ballot for CA US Senator.
Choices, choices
And PP, why did you just delete that photo of Democrat Knights In White Satin?
You saw the photos? Every time I tried to make the post it looked to me as if the link wasn't there...p'ed me off so I said forgetaboutit.
But since you brought it up I'll go ahead and ask the question I was asking:
How far to the right does one have to be in order to view the KKK as a "socialist" organization?
And when exactly does one have to stop studying history in order to still beleive that the KKK is prominently made up of Democrats?
Swig hail - I like it. My spell check always tries to change "evolution" to "revolution."

Don't you watch Justified? Only the marshalls are Republicans. ;)
" 24 people on the ballot for CA US Senator."
And every one of those challengers' resumes went right in the circular file cabinet, because our leaders are doing a bang up job both here and in D.C.. Things are good, and I'm so very proud of the good work they do.
Some lefties around here could probably appreciate the US Senate candidate's statements:
Mike Strimling (D): TAX THE RICH!
www.TaxThe Rich2012.org
The California primary ballot is a joke, which stands to reason with our joke of a government.
All senate candidates are on the ballot, and the top 2 will appear on the November ballot. Perhaps they will both be democrats?
or Marsha Feinland (D): The 99% want housing, healthcare, education, and environmental protection. The 1% give us war, prisons, and discrimination. They control the wealth we have worked to produce. Let's decide democratically what we need and make the rich and their corporations pay.
And when exactly does one have to stop studying history in order to still beleive that the KKK is prominently made up of Democrats?
When did Robert Byrd die again?
The KKK has been brain dead a lot longer than that. Penguin, you're peddling bogeymen and cliches instead of making arguments. Stop it.
Here's Andy R's nemesis:
Dirk Allen Konopik (R): Christian, Veteran, American, NRA, VFW, American Legion, Will stand boldly for Christ.
All senate candidates are on the ballot, and the top 2 will appear on the November ballot. Perhaps they will both be democrats?
Naw, it'll be Feinstein versus non-Feinstein.
Good thing that idiot Boxer isn't up again.
When did Robert Byrd die again?
I didn't know that he was a member of the KKK until the day he died.
I reckon that shows that the KKK really is a socialist organization after all, eh?
Seig is not a word. In German OR English.
Where did KKK enter this discussion? In photos you deleted?
Threadjack alert. When you don't want to really talk about the issues, bring up Hitler or the KKK, and if you can do both at the same time, score!
I was going to say, my god, that poor minivan and then I realized that it's probably and aerostar so it's okay. :D
purplepenquin said...

They were a democrat party affiliated institution in the south. Democrats made up the KKK. It's inception was made up by democrats.
Where did KKK enter this discussion?
When someone first mentioned that the "Seig Heil" was a socialist salute....made me wonder how far to the right one has to be in order to view the KKK as a socialist organization.
Seems that quite a few folks on here beleive that the Klan is left-leaning rather than right-leaning.
PP Not sure regarding the KKK but absolutely no doubt about the Nazis AKA National Socialists.
Seems that quite a few folks on here beleive that the Klan is left-leaning rather than right-leaning.
You seem like the kind of guy who likes to point out that Nazis weren't socialists
When someone first mentioned that the "Seig Heil" was a socialist salute...
AND let's never, ever, ever metion that Germany's National Socialsts were in fact socialists.
Why that prompted you to bring up the KKK, penguin, is up to you to explain.
PP: I'd like to remind you that Bill Evjue, darling of the Madison Progressive left, opposed entry into WW II. There's a famous "he caves" editorial out there from the 1941 Capital Times when Evjue finally conceded the danger of pacifism and appeasement.
Anyone gonna get pictures of the buses and trains bringing in union voters from Illinois, Michigan, and Minnesota?
They ain't going to die easy.
And the KKK was born of the Democrat Party and will always part. Own them.
What was one of the first things the National Socialists did?
Get rid of unions.
Not sure regarding the KKK but absolutely no doubt about the Nazis AKA National Socialists.
Are you also sure that members of the North American Man Boy Love Association really do love each other. It ain't just some weirdos taking advantage of lil' kids...but rather absolutely no doubt that actual "love" is the driving force of their relationships.
After all...it is right in the name of the organization, no?
Successful threadjack. Go get your receipt from Axelrod, penguin.
You seem like the kind of guy who likes to point out that Nazis weren't socialists
Like I said, labels like that are mostly a matter of perception.
I was just wondering how far to the right one has to be in order to view Nazis and/or the KKK as hard-core leftists, that's all.
AllieOop said...

Gleichschaltung and the gutting of all effective political opposition through intimidation and criminal thuggery.
For the record, penguin, you introduced Nazis, the KKK, and NAMBLA into this thread.
This from the smarter/better side of the political continuum?
Think about it. Your side is losing, and the things you do to slow it down are eating away at the core of what you say you believe. Hate is the mind killer.
This verse deserved better than a thread like this.
Nazis? KKK? WTF?
The lefties here have gone completely off the rails.
Successful threadjack. Go get your receipt from Axelrod, penguin
A) I've said far more about the original topic of this thread than you have.
B)Given how many times I've told people not to vote for Obama, I doubt that Axelrod would have anything to do with me.
C) Do you even know what the original topic in this thread is? Be honest and don't peek...

Odd that Marlene Dietrich was such a vigorous dissenter.

And also for the record, nothing-at-all that you've said so far has anything to do with the original post.

OMG--it's as if Allie sees the DAF [Nazi labor union] as the ideal for WI and the USA--can it be?
Ach du Lieber, du bist alle verruckt.
What is the Master Face theory?
Florence Colgate knows.
Kia Sedona
In other news Cuba has announced a pay raise for all 'workers' to $19.00/month. This is a 17% pay increase from 2009. Much better percentage pay increse than American 'workers'. No wonder Micheal Moore has declared it a 'workers' paradise. Perhaps Allie would prefer a Cuban labor union to the Nazi labor union?
"Let Walker finish his term, ..."
See, this is where I think that the recall process could be kept - to permit the removal of an offical who truly did go off the rails - while keeping it from being used the way it is now, to overturn a democratic election simply because you didn't like the outcome.
I propose that "finish his term" is insufficient. If a recall is brought against an elected official and it fails, said official should continue his term until the next general election AFTER the one in which he would have ordinarily have had to run for re-election. That puts skin in the game for the opponents.
For the record, Frank introduced Cuba into this thread; Chip S. introduced Florence Colgate into this thread; and KitaIkki introduced Kia Sedona into this thread.
All of you better go get your receipts.
Franky, Allie would prefer you and Walker and ALEC leave our trade unions and Public Sector Worker unions alone.
So--Untouchables. LOL. Is that in the Indian caste sense or the 'Chicago' sense?

As a Scouter of 20 years I've spent a lot of time teaching Scouts how to display the American Flag. You are not old fashioned - you are asking for compliance with the U.S. Flag Code, which is part of Federal law. From U.S. Code Title 4, Chapter 1, section 8:
(b) The flag should never touch anything beneath it, such as the ground, the floor, water, or merchandise.
(c) The flag should never be carried flat or horizontally, but always aloft and free.
Not much of a surprise that someone who flies a foreign flag on their home would not know how (or not care) to show proper respect to the American flag.
Outstanding.
Loved the cancer sticks lady and her groovy van.
Cheers,
Victoria
Hi Vic..
So nice to see you.
Please keep coming. missed you very much.
Not much of a surprise that someone who flies a foreign flag on their home would not know how (or not care) to show proper respect to the American flag
No surprise at all. They probably don't teach much about US Flag etiquette in the Mexican version of Scouting. (Do they even have such an organization? I may be assuming too much.) Much like yourself, it was Scouting that taught me how to fold a flag and not let it touch the ground and all that jazz. They (very) briefly talked about it in Army and Navy basic too, but the Scouts really hammered it home.
Sounds like the guy is intending to show a lotta love towards America rather than intentionally being disrespectful to the flag. Just like when Kid Rock wore an American Flag as a shirt while performing at the Super Bowl. He didn't mean to offend, but rather he wanted to show his love for country...but obviously Bobby was never a Boy Scout and simply didn't know better.
That van, that van! I'd know it anywhere. She's Dr. Bronner's wife. He's beloved soap man!
The First and Third Klans are considered to be terrorist organizations. It doesn't matter that the "Democratic party" was the party of antebellum slavery and Reconstruction. Today it is the party of the New Deal and civil rights, and that's what the Klan opposed.
Let me respectfully disagree, and assert that it has been the party of racism for 200 years now. Founded by slave owners, supporting slave owners through the Civil War, Jim Crow and the Klan up through passage of the Civil Rights Act (primarily by Republicans), it is now the party of Eric Holder and Jesse Jackson, both unreconstructed racists, and the party that most often now uses race, race bating, and racial appeals for winning elections.
Well and concisely stated, Bruce Hayden.
Allie said: "Allie would prefer you and Walker and ALEC leave our trade unions and Public Sector Worker unions alone.
Seems like the former members are doing that just fine. Half of AFSCME quit paying once they were no longer forced to.
What kind of club loses half its members once they're no longer forced to join?
AllieOop said...
Nazis were Facists. They denounced Socialism and Marxism.
No they didn't. Both Hitlers and Mussolinis fascism were a way to draw communists away from the communist cause and at the same time making socialism palatable to the middle class. Mussolini was always an ardent communist. Hitler just wanted to be emperor of Germany and used socialism to get there.
Marxism is an economic theory. It has utterly failed where ever its been tried.

Like I said, labels like that are mostly a matter of perception.
No. They're largely a matter of historical fact. But your answer is a good example of the logical disconnect of the left. It also tends to explain progressive magical thinking when it comes to matters economic.
Just goes to show that the Left doesn't have a monopoly on Loony.
