"If the federal government can’t keep the President’s bodyguards from drinking and whoring on duty..."

"... how likely is it to be able to run anything competently?"

For those talking about a honey trap, have you forgotten Anna Chapman so quickly? The FBI has admitted that was why she was deported so quickly. She was getting "too close" to someone in the Zero Admin.

For those arguing that the SS was "off duty", yes they were. So are the soldiers in their barracks on every posting in the world. I would expect the same level of sobriety from the SS Agents as these soldiers. They are off duty, but on call.

When I would work out of town for a company, I was always at my best behavior. You are a representative of the company, whether you like it or not. And your actions reflect on the company you work for. If you work for the government, it is even more important to represent well.

Carnifex, you just don't get it.

"When I would work out of town for a company, I was always at my best behavior."

For you, best behavior would mean praying, going to church and kissing ass.

To us atheists, humanists and rationalists, best behavior would involve eschewing religion and superstition in favor of drinking in a brothel.

Daniel Foster, M.D. quoted an old maxim to me in my medical school interview, 'Justice must not only be done but be seen to be done.' One can argue it in different ways in this case, however one way it wouldn't come up is if the Secret Service had had a couple of drinks and watched soccer on TV. I read that one of the agents allowed to retire had graduated 25 years ago form W.T. White high school in Dallas, a high school more black than white. I wonder if there have been affirmative action changes in the president's detail?

I wonder why this has been 'all Washington is talking about?' I wonder if there is an element of that 'conversation about race' that 'we're supposed to have.' In the paper in Dallas, it was reported that 'one of the supervisors who resigned graduated from W.T. White' - which was majority not, white that is. Maybe there's an issue of how the White House changed the presidential detail in an affirmative action way.

I doubt their contracts say anything like that. It isn't even like that for doctors and police, for that matter. There are periods when you are on call and periods when you aren't.

Rev, as a rule, if they aren't paying for their own room and airfare --- then it is not a vacation and they very much are on duty the entire time they are there.

Any job that is paying your way has an expectation of behavior that you have to abide by.

They violated the rules, period. They were there on MY dime, whoring around. I have every right to be upset about this.

Want to whore around and not get in trouble? Don't use MY money for the trip to do so.

I don't care about the behavior of the Secret Service, as long as they are doing their jobs. In that sense, I think Freeman nailed it. In another sense, (Pardon the vulgarity), I am quite jealous of the guy who is nailing Freeman.

Allie,

Are you the former psych nurse whose deceased husband (RIP) was a barber? Pardon the Medieval allusion. You still seem like quite the idiot.

What is it about this thread--really, what, because I don't understand it--that brings out the viciousness in people?

Moral realativism
When all behavior is relative, any behavior becomes acceptable.
Professionalism is a matter of pride. The people, in this instance, tasked with protecting the president aren't professionals.

Carniflex, what you said

When I would work out of town for a company, I was always at my best behavior. You are a representative of the company, whether you like it or not. And your actions reflect on the company you work for. If you work for the government, it is even more important to represent well.

Being at your "best behavior" implies that if you're Black, you should appear White; if short, tall; if gay, straight; if an atheist, a Roman Catholic; if a Jew, a Christian; if a woman, a man; if a Muslim, an Episcopalian.

You need to get it into your head that a company or a country that encourages such discrimination is not only undeserving of support, but is deserving to be brought down.

Likewise for a country that expects its single men to get married to have sex, for its drinkers to act like teetotalers.

Think: sex is good, drinking is good. Marriage, breeding, divorce, alimony and child support are bad, as is sobriety.

So I find it interesting that the Lefties are defending behavior that could result in POTUS being blown up, regardless of his party affiliation.

---Yes, I'd like to keep the President safe and vote him out for his humanity, his family and our country's welfare.

Losing Jack Kennedy was a tragedy, and how did the left react? They ignored the Castro loving whack job and blamed right wing hate.
