Jesus, it's just a high res screen. Nothing to see here folks. Just wait for ipad 4 and get the 3 when it gets cheaper.

Forget scratch n dent

I'm waiting for the inevitable scratch-n-sniff version.

Also for one that is the size of a magazine, and can be rolled up and folded like a magazine.

Let me know when they make monitors like this.

I'm not going to enrich Jobs' widow for something I'll still need a magnifying glass to see.

I think ironrails (wherever he is) is looking for something similar.

...but can you play Solitaire on it?

I use my iPhone so heavily, and it's tough on my eyes, which are deteriorating (not due to the phone, of course). So in my case, the iPad will be taking over most of the functionality of my smart phone, except for when I'm actually on the road or actually using the phone (or taking snapshots when I don't have my quote, unquote real camera with me).

Thus, in my case, this is not a replacement for my laptop. For me personally, I can't see that, and if that were the situation, I wouldn't want the tablet.

Different contexts, different strokes for different folks, is the long and short of it.

That said, this is likely the one and only iPad we get. The techie in the family foresees that Apple is not the future for at least this sort of thing.

Me, I'm not looking ahead, except to tomorrow.

My IPAD2 had better watch it's back. If it's not careful it might have an "accident"......

Paper has terrible resolution. 300 DPI printing is the most common.

Screens should have better resolution.

I'll have to wait, as my iPad 2 is still fairly new.

And how do the Angry Birds look?

I've been trying to think of a reason why I need an iPad for a year but I can't. Five hundred bucks, then you get it, you look at this marvelous screen. Then what?

"Video really does look absolutely stunning on this screen -- Apple has done its homework on the tech, and we couldn't be more impressed with the results."

"As we mentioned at the start of the review, the iPad is all about its screen, and Apple's 9.7-inch LED backlit IPS display does not disappoint. Colors on the screen are vibrant and saturated, while blacks feel true and deep."

That's the same reviewer a couple of years ago talking about the stunning screen on the original iPad.

Suckers.

I think you just answered your own question. Clearly you are not in the target market for iPads.

Um, yeah, technology improves. The original iPad and iPad2 do have very nice screens... it's just that the new one is even better (4x the pixels!)
