Indoor pets just need a nice home with warm heat in the winter and cold AC in the summer and food and water on demand. They really do use us. But I love it.
I love dogs. Our Golden Retriever just turned 15. He's almost blind, deaf, and real bad hips, w/ pain. It will be cruel to have him go thru another long winter. Last year we took him to San Diego for the winter, but he couldn't make the trip this year. Kozmo is the neighborhood dog. Every kid knows his name and plays w/ him. You could put a stick in his eye and he wouldn't bite[actually happened by a 2 year old kid]. I'll either kill him or have the vet do it. Life's tough.
Those are cute dogs. I even like foo foo dogs, except Schnauzers. I'm rare, I also like cats and had some in my single days.
"ndspinelli said... I'm rare, I also like cats and had some in my single days."
I'm not sure how rare this is. I like both, but only have a cat. Dog's are like kids, you have to be in a position to take care of them. I'm not in that position. Cat's you can leave for long day or even a week and they'll be fine.
And dog owners never put their pets down too soon, but...
I've also 2 male cats. Cats are neat in their own respect. Pound for pound there are none more fierce.
The interactions have been interesting. All of the animals in the house (2 legged as well) are the result of my wife's desires. And I'm good with that.
"Cute, but susceptible to all kinds of pure breed dog diseases. A mutt's the way to go if you want a relatively problem free dog." - ricpic, that's a ridiculous over-simplification, as it makes it sound like most purebred dogs are diseased, and that simply isn't true. Most of the genetic conditions purebred dogs can get are known, and responsible breeders have their dogs tested for them and weed out the carriers. My mom has been breeding toy poodles for 50 years, and has never had a serious problem with genetic defects; the most common one, PRA (Progressive retinal atrophy) is easily tested for, and she has never had a single occurrence of it. The trick is finding a reputable breeder. Assuming a mutt will not have any genetic defects or diseases is sheer foolishness, and if you have no idea of the parentage, you have no idea what its medical history is.
2 Dogs, 4 cats. The dogs and cats get along with each other better than a couple of the cats do. However, my daughter's room is the demilitarized zone. Most of them sleep on her bed with her.
Living in New Hampshire, we are well into the campaign flier season. Just got one from Bob Ely for President Committee with a web site at www.WorkMoreKeepLess.com. I don't know if this is a real candidate/campaign, but it did make me laugh.

Ditto that, CG. My kids want a dog, I'd like a dog in theory, but since our youngest is still in diapers we don't want basically a furry baby that goes to the bathroom on the floor and chews all your stuff. Hence 2 cats for now.
Okay, that's weird. I've been doing links in comments for years, and this is the first time I've had blogger screw one up for me. It added www.blogger.com/ to the link address!
ndspinelli, so sorry about your dear old Golden. In October we had our 15 year old Springer put down - broke our hearts. Still have a 7 year old poodle mix, he misses his old pal too.
Had cats as well for 30 years. Has been 5 years now without a cat and i dont miss them. Strange ....

The cool aspect of cats is that "predator" is still in their DNA. And with all the stories here of hawks or coyotes running off with little dogs, no such concern with cats as long as they have their claws. A vet on my lake up north told me the only concern for a cat would be a male fisher.
By the way, don't declaw a cat. First, it's not "declawing." It's amputation of their toes to the first joint. Second, they need their claws for not only protection (even indoor cats can get out) but for health. Cats grab with their front claws and stretch to tone their shoulders.
My ex-wife had a poodle that would sleep in bed with her when I was out of town. When I came home I would kick it out of bed. One time, after this happened, the dog climbed under the covers of a made up bed, and threw up on my side of the bed. It was a nice surprise at bedtime that night. Those dogs are very smart.

Nice, but porcupines are the thing now.
My wife and kids would love them. Cute dogs.
What kind of poodle?
I have a shih-poo. Smart little bugger. Never without his tennis ball.

What’s his back hand like?
Joe
The back hand is a little ruff, but his desire and hustle more than makes up for it.
The poodles still love their Aunt Ann.
And they're just as in-your-face and spazzy as Yorks.
PS Is that Mr Irene I see in the background?
edutcher, it is!
Good dog.
I'm sure they would be excited if you brought back the Shocking Meat Video.

shih-poo: I bet you don't take any crap for having one of those.
Seems like all the hype in WI is about recall elections, but what are they saying about the Packers?

LOL Joe, the little guy can concentrate on the ankles while I concentrate on more critical areas during a confrontation, for sure.

I think it's something along the lines of "Enough with the preseason, on with the Super Bowl already!"

Don't over stimulate the dog. Could be a crazed sex poodle.

Why is the expiration of the "payroll tax holiday" a tax increase, but the expiration of the "Bush tax cuts" is not?

Don't Tread, I had to look up shih-poos on Google Images as I didn't know what it was. Cute dog!

Awses...even WV thinks they're precious pups.

You just cannot make up this stuff.
Look, no teleprompters!
Anybody heard from SevenMachos recently?
Tonight, while we were watching the beginning of Hanna, my husband said, "Oh, so this is a homeschooling movie."
Heh.
Heh, indeed. Hanna is on my list to watch some cold night in the middle of winter.
Awesome little pups!

I read on Instapundit that a dog licking your face can kill ya.

You have poodles? Adorable. You have to watch Who Did This Mess. Don't miss the first couple seconds.
(Curious George, coyotes eat up cats in our area all the time!)
Cute dog... :D | Just wow, if this dog sleep in cafe | -.-a
