"Typo Leads To Wrong Candidate’s Election In Connecticut."

“I understand that mistakes are made, but this one is especially unfortunate,” said Republican Town Committee Chairman Tom Szewczyk.
He added that if the younger Butler was to be sworn in and resign to let his father take the post, it would serve as a violation of Connecticut State’s election law. “This would also be a huge disservice to our voters.”

Oh, for Pete's sake.

Is this really that hard?

If this were Wisconsin, there would be protests, and then a drive for a recall.

Oh, and Hitler mustaches.

Think this is bad? Wait for 2012 - with a reconstituted ACORN, SEIU, Teamsters, & Eric Holder's in-Justice Department suing every precinct that has a (r) winner. The Republican nominee will need a 20 point head start.

CONSPIRACY THEORY: The whole thing was a sham, designed to let the younger Butler "inherit" the seat, even though he had no interest in campaigning. The "typo" was really intentional, and now the son will have to "reluctantly" get sworn in and hold the seat until the political establishment can figure out how to rectify the "mistake." Professional dithering can stretch this out until the next regular election, whereupon the son can be "persuaded" to have a change of heart and be reelected as an incumbent.

wv: phsesina. The technical term for this kind of political maneuver.

Let the younger one be sworn in and let his father be hired as his chief of staff. No problem.

The mock ballot hung for weeks in the Town Hall and no one noticed the mistake.
