Back in August, I wondered about the way nobody was talking about the Judicial Commission anymore, perhaps because the criminal investigation made it seem that Bradley was the aggressor and Prosser reacted in self-defense. When the tables were turned, the noise died down, but when there were only allegations that Prosser was the aggressor, protesters vilified Prosser:
This is the level of left-wing activism we witnessed here in Madison. A justice is despised because his decisions do not please liberals, and so, without thought, they forgot about things liberals like to love themselves for caring about, such as fairness and due process....Speaking of turning the tables, liberal hypocrisy, and David Blaska, he's writing about a new incident here in Madison:
[Isthmus blogger David] Blaska demands apologies from people who should be "ashamed of their lynch mob mentality." He names the "practitioners of the dark arts of 'by any means necessary.'"
A Dane County prosecutor says she believes Madison Ald. Brian Solomon sexually assaulted a city employee who is assigned to work with the common council. But the district attorney's office won't bring him to trial only because, it says, getting a unanimous jury to convict would be chancy....
Is the Left calling for Ald. Solomon to resign? Not that I can tell. No righteous indignation from The Capital Times. Crickets at Madame Brenda's Forward Lookout website. No protest rallies in front of the Capitol. The drum circles are silent.
The Former Kathleen, County Supes Melissa Sargent and Diane Hesselbine, and Madison Ald. Lisa Subeck suffered no such reticence in organizing a shouting, chanting Capitol rally on July 12 demanding that Supreme Court Justice David Prosser resign for allegedly choking fellow Justice Anne Walsh Bradley. They did so even as the legal system was in the midst of a careful, detailed inquiry. No, the feminist lynch mob could not wait for due process....
Why the differing responses? We know why, don't we class? Brian Solomon is a liberal, he's Progressive Dane for chrissakes! He's for the victim (even if he creates some of them).

The silence you will hear on this subject from our left/liberal friends will be deafening.

So we only try cases where conviction is somehow guaranteed? Tell me what the jury's for again?
Good rant, professor. You're high on the Dennis Miller rant meter w/ this one but you need more sarcasm to get to the highest level. Actually, what really makes Miller's rants so good are the delivery, I don't think they would translate to page. I could visualize you saying what you wrote and I surmise that is the extent of your comfort level.
I'm keeping score and this travesty is #487,239 on the hypocrisy count.
Talk of a high-tech lynching got me thinking about the neck attack that made the news here in Wisconsin last June. Do you remember? State Supreme Court Justice David Prosser was said to have put Justice Ann Walsh Bradley in a "chokehold."
Yes, I do remember. It wasn't even a low-tech lynching. There was no there.
Oh..expect a stupid rant from Carol "Ditzy" Herman as soon as she wakes up. She has a Prosser alert on her 1998 computer..it just takes awhile w/ dial-up.
Slow, but sure, beginning with Gloria Steinbrenner giving Willie a pass because he supported the feminist agenda, the hypocrisy of the Left is doing as much to destroy them as their failed policies are.
Tell me what the jury's for again?"
ANS: To make the DA's conviction stats look good..

...women are simply play things for Democratic men. See:
Kennedy, Ted
Clinton, William J
Edwards, John
Reynolds, Mel (*underage)
Jackson, Jessie
Weiner, A
Condit, Gary
"Off with their heads" is a command to sever the neck.
That really stops free speech instantly, since the head contains the thoughts that are spoken.
Heretics sometimes have tongues cut out, but a quick swing of a scimitar or a Guillotine does the job better because the guy cannot even blog ideas in writing either after that.
This is what democracy looks like.
In Madison, Wisconsin.
Can a civil suit be filed against Brian Solomon?
Talk of a high-tech lynching got me thinking about the neck attack that made the news here in Wisconsin last June.
Also interesting that Cain's campaign manager, the cig smoking Mark Block, was "banned from politics" in Wisconsin for three years from masterminding the plot to funnel illegal money into the reelection campaign of a Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice.
Can a civil suit be filed against Brian Solomon?
Alternatively, could Solomon file a defamation of character suit against the DA? It would be a horrible, horrible idea, politically (but what a juicy blogging opportunity).
If you can't convict, presumably there is some innocence or benefit of doubt involved. The DA should have shut her mouth.
Everytime the Professor posts something about Madison I keep remembering she pays $13k a year in property taxes for a modest sized home and I'm thankful I live in Indiana.
"Also interesting that Cain's campaign manager. . ."
Oh, how sweet, Garage. You and Allie are singing from the same choirbook. Now you only need Ritzy and Love to join you, and you can whine in four part harmony.
With feeling.
Oh, how sweet, Garage. You and Allie are singing from the same choirbook
Hey, I just know what I read in the papers. And it's hard not to conclude that Wisconsin Republicans are the dirtiest and sleaziest operators in the country.
modest sized home
How many square feet in a modest-sized house? 3000?
Did Brian Solomon tell the woman he assaulted to "put some ice on it"?
Because then it's all good. Deep down he cares.
Hey, I just know what I read in the papers.
quod erat demonstrandum
"And it's not hard to conclude that Wisconsin Republicans are the dirtiest and sleaziest operators in the country."
So? Politics ain't beanbag. Personally, I'm all in favor of illegality and dirty tricks. I want your filthy party destroyed, whatever it takes. But you go ahead and clutch your pearls and cry that poor, poor, noble Democrats are ALWAYS out-sleazed by the vile GOP, if it makes you feel better. I won't interrupt your wail.
But since you know they're the dirtiest, sleaziest operators in the country, perhaps you can point me to the GOPers there in WI who've run a gay prostitution ring out of their apartment or driven drunk off a bridge and left a campaign staffer to drown.
Bill (cough cough) Clinton.

Oh really?
MILWAUKEE (AP) — The sons of a first-term congresswoman and Milwaukee's former acting mayor were among five Democratic activists charged Monday with slashing the tires of vans rented by Republicans to drive voters and monitors to the polls on Election Day.
Sowande Omokunde, son of Rep. Gwen Moore, D-Wis., and Michael Pratt, the son of former Milwaukee acting mayor Marvin Pratt, were among those charged with criminal damage to property, a felony that carries a maximum punishment of 3½ years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Why,it is almost as if you're a silly liar or something.
"Everytime the Professor posts something about Madison I keep remembering she pays $13k a year in property taxes for a modest sized home and I'm thankful I live in Indiana."
Actually, it's pretty big. We'd prefer smaller.
Why,it is almost as if you're a silly liar or something.
What did a lie about Jaytard? That's right, you, as usual, have no point. Your whole existence is fucking pointless.
"Brian Solomon is a liberal, he's Progressive Dane for chrissakes! He's for the victim..."
Clintonesque, sex-crazed puppy.
As I said when the single-celled intelligence first raised the Block thing, there's one word missing.
Convicted.
A settlement out of court is not proof of guilt or conviction, as we all know.
ignatz, This is America, anyone can sue anyone else for vitually anything. Rape victims often sue even when the defendant is acquitted. That's a boilerplate question by criminal defense attorneys when the victim is on the stand, "Do you intend to sue my client?"

Um, this:
it's hard not to conclude that Wisconsin Republicans are the dirtiest and sleaziest operators in the country.
But of course when the "papers" you read are left wing Web sites, nobody is surprised.
A settlement out of court is not proof of guilt or conviction, as we all know.
Republicans are just bad with money. As we all know.
That's a boilerplate question by criminal defense attorneys when the victim is on the stand, "Do you intend to sue my client?"
Really? How is that relevant to guilt or innocence?
I suppose the best answer is: I don't know. It's difficult plan that far in advance. I'm just living a day-to-day existence ever since your client brutally raped me.
But of course when the "papers" you read are left wing Web sites, nobody is surprised.
The WIGOP electioneering sleaze appears to be even too much for Republican Dale Schultz.
Thank the recalls! Not much of a majority anymore, is it?
State Supreme Court Justice David Prosser was said to have put Justice Ann Walsh Bradley in a "chokehold."
Don't go all passive voice on us Professor. Make the speaker own their words.
Madison Man, You're spot on..that was part of the prep we would do w/ victims and your answer as a victim is very good and true. But of course Whoopi would tell us, "This wasn't rapey rape."
All you need to know about garage's incessant OT posts running to the next straw to cling to:
2010 Elections: GOP statewide landslide
Protests/Fleabaggers/Lawsuits: FAIL
Supreme Court Election: FAIL
Supreme Court Recount: FAIL
Recall Attempt to take over Senate: FAIL
Walker John Doe Investigation: YAWN (Fail)
Hoosier, no one WANTS to live in Indiana for pity sake.
Garage, Dale Schultz should just become a Democrat, the R's distrust him and probably hate him. Majority ,going, going, gone.
Calypso,
Sure, you can take this too far and have prosecutors more worried about their record than at carrying out justice...
But YES the strength of the evidence and the likelihood of conviction is supposed to be a brake on the prosecutor.

""I have no intention of declaring as an independent," Shultz said. "I've been an unrepentant Republican for 45 years, and I don't plan to change that. I may be a different Republican than some of my colleagues around me, but I think that can be a good thing."
Dream on.
Garage, Dale Schultz should just become a Democrat, the R's distrust him and probably hate him. Majority ,going, going, gone.
Remember Schultz said Walker tricked him into his office while the BRB was being debated on the floor, thereby not being able to introduce amendments to the BRB that he wanted. Walker, an Eagle Scout no less!
OK, the unit emits 5 different outputs on this thread...
Is that too much for your little brain to handle, sorepaw? Maybe Althouse should put up a practice thread for you to play with.
Wisconsin politics aren't particularly dirty, by present-day American standards.
Actually they are. But what the fuck would you know about Wisconsin politics anyway?

Wow, powerful stuff. Except that it's 100% bullshit.
"Schultz acknowledged that he had no proof of the governor's intent and that he didn't ask the Senate to reconsider its action later that day on Walker's budget-repair bill or use another opportunity the following week to introduce his amendment."
Keep grasping for straws.
Keep grasping for straws.
Be gentle. Those "straws" are the stuffing in the teddy bear he holds while crying himself to sleep at night.

I'm astonished that someone who lives so close to Illinois can say this with a straight face.
Schultz acknowledged that he had no proof of the governor's intent
No matter, garage, silly, ignorant Internet commenter, knows the governor's intent!
Wow, powerful stuff. Except that it's 100% bullshit.
Hmmm , lets see: Schultz said Walker "decoyed" him into his office. It just happened to be the time Schultz was needed on the floor to offer up his amendments, that Walker didn't want int the bill.
Who would you believe, Schultz, or a serial liar like Walker?
But he told the Journal Sentinel that he felt he was having some success getting members of the Senate Republican caucus to sign on to his compromise, in which he sought larger financial concessions from public employees but a two-year sunset on the limits to collective bargaining.
"You're damned right I think that's what they were doing," Schultz said of Walker's intent. "It's appalling to think about it."
garage-bot & mottie-bot are both suffering the same firmware bug.
Sorry, garage, but I'm having a great deal of difficulty figuring out why a story about a Republican legislator provides any sort of defense of Brian Solomon's alleged misconduct.
No doubt that's a reading disability on my part, so feel free to explain it in simple terms.
Otherwise I'll just take your irrelevant posts as further evidence that you're the kind of fool who thinks that hijacking a thread helps his political pals in some substantive way.
Perhaps Anne Althouse can use her connections in the legal community and inquire as to what happened or is happening over at the Wisconsin Judicial Commission.
Sort of a progress report:
1. Still ongoing? Yep.
2. We decided and met privately behind closed doors with involved parties and consider the matter over.
3. With charges dropped, we mooted the whole thing in early September. Press release? Why? We don't have to announce it.
No doubt that's a reading disability on my part, so feel free to explain it in simple terms.
Probably not a reading disability, you probably just didn't like what you read.
Take it up with the Blogstress.
The case against David "the Enforcer" Prosser for his take down of Miss Bradley (a mom, and about 5-3, 130lbs) may have been..swept under the rug by the WI authori-tays. That in no way means he didn't do it--and it's not an isolated incident. More like--who has more juice with the cops and DAs. Put a muzzle on it.
Should have supported voter ID law
By Artur Davis
I've changed my mind on voter ID laws -- I think Alabama did the right thing in passing one -- and I wish I had gotten it right when I was in political office.
When I was a congressman, I took the path of least resistance on this subject for an African American politician. Without any evidence to back it up, I lapsed into the rhetoric of various partisans and activists who contend that requiring photo identification to vote is a suppression tactic aimed at thwarting black voter participation.
The truth is that the most aggressive contemporary voter suppression in the African American community, at least in Alabama, is the wholesale manufacture of ballots, at the polls and absentee, in parts of the Black Belt.
Voting the names of the dead, and the nonexistent, and the too-mentally-impaired to function, cancels out the votes of citizens who are exercising their rights -- that's suppression by any light. If you doubt it exists, I don't; I've heard the peddlers of these ballots brag about it, I've been asked to provide the funds for it, and I am confident it has changed at least a few close local election results.

Why did they let you out of your cell again?
@garage--The bloggress isn't the one who dragged Mark Block and Dale Schultz into this.
Kirk said: "But YES the strength of the evidence and the likelihood of conviction is supposed to be a brake on the prosecutor."
There's a vast gulf of gray between normal prosecutor discretion and the ADA's statement that she "absolutely believes [the accused'd] account" but will not bring charges. Perhaps the DA's office is simply too busy sticking its collective nose into politically motivated State Legislature and Supreme Court investigations.
Solomon's a real winner, at any rate, bragging in the ADA's letter at the link of "his digital workmanship as producing not one, but two orgasms, in a woman who suffers from sexual trauma..."
Actually they are. But what the fuck would you know about Wisconsin politics anyway?
Really now. A few months ago when I challenged you to come with me to a few black barbershops in Kenosha and Racine and talk to people who live in Illinois but vote in Wisconsin (or both states), you told me that Wisconsin elections were clean.
So what's changed now?
A few months ago when I challenged you to come with me to a few black barbershops in Kenosha and Racine and talk to people who live in Illinois but vote in Wisconsin (or both states), you told me that Wisconsin elections were clean.
I highly doubt people are voting in Wisconsin that live in Illinois, no matter what they claim at a barbershop. I stated I think the fraud occurs from keeping people from voting, and how the votes are counted after they are cast. None of the state ballots are counted by hand, but counted by voting machines that can be hacked for as little as $20.00. Remember they just investigated this a few yrs ago.
Jay-Byro--you're the perp, the derailer, cyber-stalker and druggie-scum, AZ Acid-head(not to say defending the TP and cops at all times). As old Sally Foster knows. And Sac 'heads.
Hasta la buh bye AZ-McCain-snitch
Speaking of perps..the Occupy-peeps should try to put Prosser ontrial.Yeah--show trial! IN the park...Order! the Defendant, one Mr Prosser shall be muzzled, and bound to his seat.
I highly doubt people are voting in Wisconsin that live in Illinois...
Well, not JUST Illinois.
Good thing former ACORN Director Carolyn Castore whose previous voter (multiple) registration efforts were “marred by fraud and corruption” is taking the lead in defending us against voter ID.
You can doubt it all you want but I know what I've heard and seen. Several of the barbers at the barber shop I go to live in Northern Illinois. The barber shop is a few miles over the state line in Kenosha. They use the shop's address to get mail, register to vote, etc. and also register and vote in Illinois using their home addresses.
Its a simple matter to use the shop's utility bills to register since they are in a person's name and not a business name. And its not like the ID checks are all that rigorous.
James
I don't doubt your account from the barbershop at all. I never did.
And Calypso
I only got a chance to skim but it's complete b.s. if true.

Ok, first Corky your claim was that this Walker "trickery" led to Schultz "not being able to introduce amendments to the BRB that he wanted."
This as I have shown is 100% bullshit. He never brought it up to GOP leadership, AND also didn't introduce it later when he had a chance. He had another opportunity to introduce amendments and chose not too.
Second, from your link, Schultz clearly relents on his strong language "Late Thursday, Schultz softened his criticisms after he got calls from Walker and Senate President Mike Ellis (R-Neenah) and a request to talk with Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau), saying he never meant to besmirch anyone."
So Schultz later changed his position.
You are a moron and a liar. That's settled.
