I don't assume anything, I think Dems got beat up pretty good by the 65 and over demographic last election -- but they are fellow Wisconsinites.

Under the bill, any person who applies for an absentee ballot... must also provide a copy of the license or identification card,
unless:
1) the person has already provided a copy of his or her license or identification card in connection with an absentee ballot cast at a previous election and has not changed his or her name or address since that election;
2) the person has been required by a law enforcement officer to surrender his or her license (see below);
3) the person is indefinitely confined, in which case the person may submit a statement signed by the person who witnesses his or her absentee ballot verifying his or her identity; or
4) the person is an occupant of any nursing home, or is an occupant of a community−based residential facility, retirement home, adult family home, or
residential care apartment complex where a municipality sends special voting deputies, in which case the person may submit a statement signed by the deputies verifying his or her identity.

Seems like out-of-state students would run into problems. If they claim residency (as opposed to mere studenthood), IIRC they're obligated to get a WI drivers license and surrender their California one within 60 days. That could screw up their absentee voting in California. What a pickle! They could lose at least one vote!
Coggs thinks his constituents are idiots. If they can get their foodstamps and welfare checks, they certainly can get a photo I.D. Coggs is the racist here.
Having been around in the 1960's, and having demonstrated for civil rights back in the day, I'm angered beyond belief at the adoption of "We Shall Overcome" for something like this.
So garage and alpha and their cronies will have a harder time stealing elections. Big whoop. That won't stop them from trying.
Oh, please Garage, tell us you dont believe your own bull. Three counties with no DMV - so if that prevents them from getting ID, you must also be suggesting all of the residents in those counties don't drive, as they can't get drivers licenses? They walk to work, the grocery store, school and every where else? They never buy alcohol or cigarettes, get loans, cash checks? Sure.
The DMV will not be open on weekends. Wisconsin is in a budget crisis. Haven't you all heard that? (Disregard all those new tax revenues that have been found).
My own opinion is that barriers should not be erected before voters. All this talk about Voter Fraud seems to be just talk. I think that a Republican AG or a Republican DA would be pursuing all these Democratic felons if they actually existed. And Republican DAs do exist in this state. Why haven't they been working on this horrible horrible problem?

Producing an ID card is hardly a barrier to voting. Producing a valid ID card ensures the voter is qualifed to cast that vote.
In order for the elderly to get their govt bennies, they have to have ID. but suddenly 180k of them don't have an ID card?
