"Passing the sexual Turing test."

It's not easy! The computer hears the laughter on comedy shows and thinks it's porn.

Turing did tougher stuff than that.

The intel intercepts he got were only partial groups of letters (assuming he had the correct version of the Enigma machine and code books). He had to come up with all the possible words (in German) that the groups might form and then pick which word each group was and figure out what possible meaning they could have.

Sort of like a jigsaw puzzle where you don't know the picture and have to create the pieces before you put them together.

I know you loves your Metafilter, but I don't think I've ever read a Metafilter thread that didn't leave me wanting to pummel all the commenters, the smug, self-satisfied little twits.

To me, laugh tracks are far more offensive than porn. YMMV.

And real sex is far more likely to involve laughter than porn, since some of the sillier noises (and the reaction to them) usually are edited out.
