ADDED: Omitted from the video is one passage that I've transcribed using boldface to show something I found very interesting:
An independent investigation needs to occur to get to the bottom of: What the [Waukesha County] clerk did there (when and why); the timing of her various statements and actions, including a one-and-a-half day delay in notifying any responsible party about a county vote total that she knew was incorrect; the absence of any reasonable basis for her explanations; the prior knowledge by conservative bloggers, contrasted with the complete absence of knowledge by the canvass board until the press conference — all of these raise significant questions about the clerk's conduct and her handling of the public trust. What prior knowledge of conservative bloggers? Does that refer to me? I got a lot of links for saying I could tell there was a mistake in Waukesha county. I got the knowledge the way anyone with access to the internet (and a brain) could have gotten the knowledge. I watched the AP website that was displaying the list of the counties with the precincts reporting and the number of votes reported.
At 11:35, I was annoyed that there were a lot of precincts in Waukesha that hadn't reported. Then at 11:43, I saw that "Waukesha is now shown as completely in, but the numbers didn't change." I guessed that "something may have been misreported." There was no suspicious back channel to me. I was observing and thinking.
Maybe that's a special conservative way to acquire knowledge. Hmm?
ADDED: I have more to say here.

hmmmm... I think that should read "the Meade video, edited by Althouse". ;)
They must have found some votes in a trunk somewhere.
Wasn't there, but heard it on the radio live at 16:03 CDT.
The moment Ms. Kloppenburg announced her intentions, there was cheering (a normal reaction ) and drumming ( not normal).
Was Kloppenburg's band there?
http://www.flickr.com/photos/althouse/5604631073/
OK, good for her, let her put an end to it.
And I notice nobody tried to get in Meade's face this time.
Why does she always sound like she's talking down to her audience?
Give her credit for taking a moment before answering the "are you the winner" question. But it was still a lame answer. "I feel as though I've been a winner...," "I don't feel, I'm a litigator," blah blah blah.
BTW, I was hoping there'd be a cafe post tonight, so I could bring up Trump saying he agrees 100% with the Kelo vs. City of New London SC decision.
report-tard giving her an easy-out.
"Do you feel..."
And she needed some time to digest that.
For fuck's sake man, I want to know what she thinks.
Did the people of Wisconsin actually choose this dingbat to be on their Supreme Court?
sorry, I meant did they have any role in nominating her? She's not sane.
She sure jumps quickly from a "feelings"-pregnant pause to asserting that she is a litigator who doesn't deal with feelings, but works with facts and law.
Naturally, she also invokes the left's classic use of the word "fair," in which "fair" equals "my way."
The skirt also is too short. Meow.
Her speaking has a very strange cadence. Do you WI lawyers talk like that when they speachify?
Kloppenburg is a German word, defined as: "a walking, talking mess of contradictions".
If a question of "Do you still feel like the winner?" throws her off for 15 seconds, how in the world could she function in a courtroom with all of that fancy lawyer talk stuff that you lawyer types do?
Lying sure comes easy "in the cause". We haven't seen real political courage since John Ashcroft in 2000.
"I have been consistent throughout.."
Seemingly by 200 votes? Recounts undermine the integrity of the process and the WISC.
Clearly behind by 7,000 votes? Recounts are "required by law."
What must it be like to try a case before this fool?
I just couldn't watch the whole thing. She comes off too much like a grade school teacher, and has none of the bearing of a Supreme Court Justice. Nor the sharp wit one would expect of an attorney. Makes too much of these "anomalies" without specifying them, stating what theye were, and how they affected the election. I'd like to hear whether she regrets declaring herself the winner before all of the votes were counted.
That said, give her the recount, and then stfu.
Living on the East Coast the past 25 years I was never aware of Supreme Court elections. It was really odd being in Madison for a Supreme Court election.
Personally, I believe it should not be an elected office but rather an appointed office.
Yes, both are political, but this was just gross.
And she should of accepted the election and moved on. For the good of the state as well as her own career-whatever that is.
"She sure jumps quickly from a "feelings"-pregnant pause to asserting that she is a litigator who doesn't deal with feelings, but works with facts and law."
Yeah, I was amused by the feel/don't feel turnabout.
"Her speaking has a very strange cadence. Do you WI lawyers talk like that when they speachify?"
No. Her style of speech reminds me of Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
I see and hear nothing but hubris. I hope she chokes on it.
Wisconsin deserves better.
Here's to a full and accurate recount!
She's a liar. She declared victory with a lousy 200 vote margin, and never ever mentioned then about a recount. And now that she's the one down, over 36 times more votes than she was up declaring victory, she evokes "democracy." What a joke.
That was painful. Truly painful. This is what a pretty-pretty-princess sounds like talking to people who ate too many lead-based paint chips when they were young. The law does not require a recount. If, after the recount, the margin is more than 0.5%, will she then need to pay for the recount? Prosser should stipulate that.
Be careful what one wishes for: I hope they uncover fraud in Dane County. My feeling is that she is causing people to distrust the election result. God save us all.
@Althouse:
Is she a first-rate legal mind or some kind of stooge?
Lance, I hope that puts the last nail in Trump's coffin. The guys not a leader. He's a guy who makes money. that's not a bad thing, inherently, but it doesn't make him presidential material. I just hope they don't make me choose between him and Huckabee.
"Here's to a full and accurate recount!"
And to the special investigator doing a special investigation into the over-vote in Dane County.
Uh oh, Patrick and I are on the same thread again. I said I couldn't watch the whole thing, and that I agree with Lance about Trump. The Other Patrick said she's a liar. I've always thought the world needs more Patricks.
What kind of conservatives are Waukesha County?
I was interested in learning more about them after this election.
The republicans on the East Coast are overwhelmingly Fiscal Conservatives but not too much into the social stuff.
I kind of assumed that conservative/republican voters in Waukesha County, near a large metropolitan area, may be more fiscal and less social.
Is Waukesha County and Brookfield both social and economic conservatives?
So you are the mean conservative blogger who engaged in dirty tricks on the Anointed Justice Kloppenburg, Queen of Wisconsin Public Unions. You have a nice blog there. It would be a shame if there were internet investigations hinting at a possible a connection between your Amazon portal and the Evil Koch Brothers orders for all books on how to break unions.
Tight editing? A regular Verna Fields, you are!
And to the special investigator doing a special investigation into the over-vote in Dane County.
Yes, a full analysis of those suspicious ballots marked only for Kloppenburg -- nothing for Soglin even.
The 15 sec pregnant pause after being asked if she thought she won was very telling. She knows she lost, and it took her 15 seconds to come up with the lie to answer the question.
Titus in a rare serious mood?
Isn't the big news there that Althouse is now apparently known as a conservative blogger.
Next stop: last page of National Review. It's never been the same since Florence King left.
So what is the true story behind this? It can't be to undermine Prosser as he has a 10 year term. This isn't setting up another election in 2 years.
Is it to just raise hell on the part of Big Labor? Do anything in Wisconsin to cause disruptions?
Wait, I know. Hmmm. I would guess that there will be large fundraising done around this.
I did a 30 page paper on judicial elections once in law school. I went into it really undecided -- if anything tilted toward appointment because the professor involved was deeply committed to appointment of judges.
I read a lot. A lot. I came down strongly on the side of judicial elections. That paper, in fact, influenced a tremendous amount of my politics. People should be able to decide who makes decisions for them and about them. That's democracy. It's messy. It's ugly. It's corrupt. But messy democracy is the only way to sustain the balance in society between liberty and equality.
What prior knowledge of conservative bloggers?
We (conservatives) own Althouse because the other side says so.. and frankly, when theirs appears to be the only currency going, we would be fools not accept it.
Chuck -- What does Kloppenburg have to lose if she loses?
"I was observing and thinking.
Maybe that's a special conservative way to acquire knowledge. Hmm? "
Well, yes it is, but it's insufficient if it does not reach the desired conclusion. Liberal have invented a myriad of upgrades to your system to help. Progress!
>>The skirt also is too short. Meow.<<
If I were as homely as Ms. Kloppenburg I'd wear my skirts short too. You probably did not see the footage where she was walking into the building, dropped something, then bent over to pick it up.
Nice to see that she cut her Janis Ian 1970's hair and didnt put on her blush with a trowel.
Seven-M, good point. She's probably thinking "what the hell".
Yeah, that 15 second pause after being asked "do you still think you....." forgot the exact wording. But it seems that she knows she has lost. That this is a 25000 to 1 shot.
I got the knowledge the way anyone with access to the internet (and a brain) could have gotten the knowledge.
"(and a brain)"? Aren't you asking too much? That is unfair to Kloppenburg's supporters.
Althouse will have to fight Lileks for that NRO spot. Next think you know she'll be a regular on Hugh Hewitt.
It doesn't matter how you vote. If you use "observing and thinking", you're a goddamned conservative hillbilly. Now get a grip and start voting like one.
And just think, a couple of days ago people were making fun of her looks. At that time I hadn't seen her picture, but now I have and I must say...
I think Edith Bunker looks pretty good for her age...
But when did she change her name back to Kloppenburg???
Chip S. said "What must it be like to try a case before this fool?"
We'll never know as she has never been a judge, and never will be.
Lileks is good. That would be a high hurdle for anyone..
"how liberals lost me" by Ann Althouse.
Every time I see Kloppenburg I start humming "At Seventeen."
What's with all the scarves? Does she have that turkey neck thing?
She talks like a kindergarten teacher reading a book to her little minions.
wv = angst = yup, plenty of leftards have that feeling.
You know, Kloppenburger should go work for Disney. Her voice is so "little girlish" ... it's like listening to someone telling a fairy tale.
As to the "gimmick" ... it works only if they can discredit 20,000 votes for Prosser.
I wouldn't put it past them, either!
But I still think Milwaukee's got 18,000 "votes" for Kloppenhoppen ... that have only one check off on the ballot!
Now, you can call these "check marks" ... but I call them specks. If you have a ballot ... it needs to have more than one single box checked off!
Aren't there instructions that come with ballots? Isn't there a reason you can go to the precincts ... and ask for help ... if you have trouble with the balloting material?
You mean you didn't bring your glasses? Believe it or not, those precinct people are there to help.
This story doesn't disappear. But every day that passes ... old Shirley Abrahamson is getting another day older. And, youth is on the republican's side! Whatever helps the elephant remember.
She sounds like she is huffing helium.
Why does a "litigator for 22 years" look at the ceiling before answering a simple question that could have been anticipated?
Things that I feel:
(1) Blood rushing into my groin
(2) Blood rushing away from my groin
(3) Nothing
Ms. Kloppenburg makes me feel #2
Like Mini Pearl’s Tag Kloppy’s Scarf
Is Fashionable as Dried Collar Barf
Then She Opens Her Mouth
And Things Go Further South
As She Whinnies Like a Warm Garlic Fart.
The Scarf is there to hide either a Adam's apple or aging signs (turkey neck).
Since she speaks out of the front of her throat - turkey neck.
There are some gals over 50 that can pull off the short skirt. I've become rather fond of success there.
What if this is just "MISDIRECTION?"
Glenn Reynolds is also following this story. It seems DANE county has some "splaining to do."
Did you know Kloppenburger's totals are greater by 10,000 + votes than anybody else's totals?
the real problem is that we just don't punish fraud.
Dane County's fraud is HUGE!
Misdirection can sometimes backfire.
BTW, I was hoping there'd be a cafe post tonight, so I could bring up Trump saying he agrees 100% with the Kelo vs. City of New London SC decision.
Does it really matter? He's a birther, and that's enough to get some of the local conservative morons to vote for him.
" the prior knowledge by conservative bloggers,"
And the local paper's web site which posted the numbers just after midnite as they were reported here by each Ward.
You know, that 'prior knowledge of conservative bloggers' is just a shameless lie, meant to delegitimize the 'american democracy' process she claims her recount is devoted to preserving.
You don't make that kind of nasty accusation without actually looking into it. The best we can say for Klopp is that she seems so much like that heroine from the 'Airplane' movie that she must be merely following marching orders.
I don't think that's fair. She knows Althouse didn't have prior knowledge. when she announced victory, it was just damn weird because they were going to certify the election soon. She knew, based on the same damn reasons Althouse knew, that this conservative town was misreported. She knew she was about to be deluged in Prosser votes and that she didn't win.
So she announces she won, insinuates a conspiracy, and basically tears down the electoral process for a little PR. This is the candidate people already noted was in the back pocket of a certain outcome on certain cases.
It was disgusting, but I guess I can take a hint from Tricia and realize this is simply making the reasonable Wisconsin citizens and leaders, like Walker and Prosser, look much better in comparison.
We can't sink down to the Klopp level.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ck9vKp0zQCE&feature=player_embedded#at=106
This was my favorite part.
AA Maybe that's a special conservative way to acquire knowledge. Hmm?
You mean like adding? Like Paul Ryan seems to be able to do better than any Dem and many Repubs?
wv cracie
Kloppenburg?
There was no suspicious back channel to me. I was observing and thinking.
Maybe that's a special conservative way to acquire knowledge. Hmm?
That would never occur to them. They feel things, don't you know,...
Honestly: would you want this woman ruling over a legal matter that affected you?
She is willfully stubborn to the facts. She announces she won so early, when her long pause proves she knows she lost, and doesn't regret it? She's paranoid or dishonest, and she absolutely refuses to let the evidence lead her.
It's interesting that prosecutors of this nature are often democrats hoping to become judges. It's almost a cliche. I hope someone looks at the convictions she's won. hopefully her character defects haven't ruined any lives.
How do people like this get power? Why does that keep happening? we need to change whatever it is about our systems that makes these traits politically helpful.
This person should not be a judge, that's for sure.
And hey, Ann, isn't it cool to have a blog so you can prove things, like having had ideas independent of everyone else's assumed outside influences?
I think it is. That much anyway.
When I click on Cracks link I get this..

You know, that 'prior knowledge of conservative bloggers' is just a shameless lie, meant to delegitimize the 'american democracy' process she claims her recount is devoted to preserving.
It definitely moves her into Birther/Truther territory with the rest of the tinfoil hat crowd.
Saying "a Republican election official faked a bunch of votes" is unsubstantiated, but not actually insane. But implying that the above happened and conservative bloggers knew about it ahead of time is grassy knoll stuff. The kind of thing Oliver Stone would make a film about if he was still on cocaine.
The Huffington Post is a conservative blog? I heard they had the correct Brookfield numbers on election night...

An independent investigation needs to occur to get to the bottom of: What the [Waukesha County] clerk did there (when and why)
Cross My Broken Heart..
I know you think I'm not
Your picture perfect jewel
And let us break apart
When everything was cool
I needed to explore
And open up the door
But now I need you more
I'm sending out a message
A message so sincere
When I close my eyes
I need to feel you near
Lets us go forth together ;)
An independent investigation needs to occur to get to the bottom of: What the [Waukesha County] clerk did there (when and why)
What You Won't Do For Love..
I came back to ley you know
Got a thing for you
And I can't let go
My friends wonder what is wrong with me
Well I'm in a daze from your love you see
I came back to let you know
Got a thing for you
And I can't let go
We are doing it for the children.
The Huffington Post is a conservative blog?
Andrew Breitbart used to post there. They got rid of him right before the election... COINCIDENCE?
Oh, they'd like you to think it was. Oh yes indeed.
What's missing in her pretending to have high motives is people on the right pretending to believe her.
They'd go along with her saying she wanted revenge against the clerk by making the clerk's life miserable.
That's how women are, after all.
..the timing of her various statements and actions, including a one-and-a-half day delay in notifying any responsible party about a county vote total that she knew was incorrect; the absence of any reasonable basis for her explanations.
Amores Extraños..
ya sabía que era una mentira,
cuanto tiempo que por él perdí,
que promesa rota sin cumplir.
Son amores problemáticos,
como tú, como yo.
Es la espera en un teléfono,
la aventura de lo ilógico,
la locura de lo mágico,
un veneno sin antídoto,
la amargura de lo efímero,..
Son amores que sólo a nuestra edad
se confunden en nuestros espíritus,
te interrogan y nunca te dejan ver,
si serán amor o placer.
It would be another sad day if that clerk is made to have to hire a lawyer to defend her against the charge of making a human error.
Something that most of us have made at one time or another.
The message is being sent.. if you make a mistake - don't come forward and expose yourself to some kind of liability.
Whatever you do, hide it, cover it up.
Doing the right thing can either cost you, send you to prison.. or both.
I mean.. its possible that if she had not come forward, none of this would be happening to her..
'Whatever happens to her.. Its her g,, dam fault'.
I'm trying to put on a garage hat ;)

She thinks we are stupid. Or children. She sounds like she's addressing a Kindergarden class.

I think they are setting up for the 2013 judicial elections. Chief Justice Abrahamson is 77 and her term started in 2009 so chances are this is her last term. Kloppenburg is her protege and former intern so the left knows she'll be a reliable clone of Abrahamson.
Patience Roggensack is up for election in 2013 and she'd probably love to have the name recognition of Kloppenburg.
Of course Crack is offensive "to some." A right of center black man is an offense to nature in liberal circles, a true existential threat. For these groups, right of center blacks are a pestilence that must be eliminated.
@Seven Machos:
Next stop: last page of National Review. It's never been the same since Florence King left.
I would love to see Ann writing that; but it would be tough to fill the shoes of the World's Funniest Bisexual Republican.
Prior knowledge? Kloppendale thinks that because you can add and subtract and noticed the numbers didn't jive that you had prior knowledge. Math is all magic to her.
Just wait until she hears about long division.
A class action suit by WI taxpayers against Koppenburg has been mentioned on another blog. Is this a realistic, viable action?
How dare you "observe and think", Ann. The left would thrown you in the dungeon for that.
Althouse is right. If you look at the comments on the night of the election early in the morning we were all blogging about why Waukesha County had a significantly lower turnout than the neighboring counties, which had similar demographics. This observation was derived from the data available on-line and not from some secret source.
There was no explanation for the lower turnout at the time?
Ultimately this same analysis was used by more "professional" bloggers to explain why the extra votes there was not out of the ordinary.
Because Democrats cheat and lie - when others openly think and question - the left assumes it's because of cheating and lying.
What they do.
Despite Kloppenburg's concern for "fair elections", I see no move from the left to fix those areas where false votes can be made.
Voter ID and many other recommendations would do just that.
So why not strengthen the voting process?
It makes one think the left might not actually give a shit about the things they lectures us about.
Oh yeah.
Fen's Law.
There was a woman from the Wisconsin State Journal on van Susteren last night about this. She did not tell any outright lies, but told snippets of truth in such a way that telling lies would have been more honest.
Shorter Kleptoberg:
"Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa"
" ... we were all blogging about why Waukesha County had a significantly lower turnout than the neighboring counties, which had similar demographics. This observation was derived from the data available on-line."
Correct. Kleptoberg saw also that a strong Prosser district wasn't being reported ... so she took that opportunity to try to steal the election.
We need an investigation all right.
That fucking bitch tried to steal a Supreme Court seat. Investigate her fucking ass.
Kloppenburg looks like a Cabbage Patch doll.
This is one angry moonbat. She came off as being slighted by the voters for not giving her the job that is rightly hers. I think she has some character flaws that has prevented her from being a judge.
This is the conservative blog I believe she is refering to, which had posted - - a minute before the news conference was to begin - - the precise vote totals that Nickolaus would be announcing:link
So some folks were pretty well sourced - - and kudos to them for that - - maybe better sourced than the public and state election officials in Madison.
My favorite irony here is that on election night when the totals showed her ahead by 200 votes, she instantly declared victory! 200 votes was enough to erase all doubt in her mind!
Now that the official totals (not the erroneous AP-reported totals) are in, 7300 votes is too few for Prosser to have won.
I want some brave reporter to ask her why this seeming double-standard, and I want her asked this about a dozen times in the next two weeks.
Is there any reporter brave enough?
Compare the comments here to the comments on Ms. Willoughby's e-mail.
Now I can say I've seen people I know in an althouse video, and I'm not talking about Ms. K and her husband and daughter.
The people thanking her for asking for a recount sound a little bit too hysterically into it, IMO. (And who takes a baby to a press conference?)
The pregnant pause after the Winner question is very interesting. She certainly is not a politician.
Lem, you are point on. Google invokes spirit of Dredd Scott case in an attempt to return a runaway blogger of color to the liberal plantation.
I also did not know that AP was composed of bunch of conserative bloggers. What is world coming to?
" . . . I was observing and thinking.
Maybe that's a special conservative way to acquire knowledge. Hmm?"
Aaaaah! Observing and thinking. If only judges acquired knowledge that way. What a wonderful world this would be.
So some folks were pretty well sourced - - and kudos to them for that - - maybe better sourced than the public and state election officials in Madison.
Wow. A leaked news story. I'll bet that's never happened before!
Maybe that's a special conservative way to acquire knowledge.
Well, yes. You're supposed to acquire it by either intense study of partisan doctrine as to who the correct winner should be, or simply to robotically re-spew what your Rice Krisp, er, party leaders tell you.
Anne - A students become law professors, B students become judges, C students become lawyers. Of course she's referring to you; she's being spitefully jealous of someone who got better grades than she.
I was observing and thinking.
Ha! Well I say enuff of your subversive observing and thinking. We want straight answers and then a firing squad.
I love the audio juxtaposition of a toddler babbling and Kloppenburg speaking.
bababababbabababababab
And yes the pause was painful. Sadly reminiscent of this.
"prior knowledge by conservative bloggers,"
And so a new conspiracy-lovers eponym comes along-- Kloppenburg is an ... Althouser!
"
The pregnant pause after the Winner question is very interesting. She certainly is not a politician."
She just isn't very smart. She's a politician, playing hardball and screwing with the public trust based on *lies*. Klopp actually tells lies.
Only, she was supposed to say that we have no idea who won yet, that we're waiting for the facts to come in, and she also was just asked to defend her assertion that she won with 1/30th the margin Prosser now has. she was not capable of handling it, and the lies in her head made her look like she was about to have a breakdown.
But she's a politician for sure. What's certain is that she's not a judge. Frankly, I think she belongs in a prison cell if she can't substantiate her accusations. Lying about elections is election fraud.
Her 200 vote lead was before the election was canvassed, when several were talking about the fact some conservative areas seemed to be undercounted heavily. Klopp's campaign knew it. It's the only explanation for the victory announcement just before the votes were finished being counted. If she actually was sure she won, which she stubbornly insisted she had, she would have waited for the election to be certified.
Just a liar. Now claiming some conspiracy with conservative bloggers she can't name because she is afraid of being sued.
If she's just reading a script, you'd think by now she'd have found a new writer. Who would have thought, after that earlier victory press conference, she hadn't even made the most humiliating interview of her month yet?
"... on election night when the totals showed her ahead by 200 votes, she instantly declared victory! 200 votes was enough to erase all doubt in her mind!"
That bitch used this short window of opportunity to try to steal the fucking election. It's obvious!
Kleptoberg knew that district's votes hadn't been included in the AP total. Had to know. Everybody knew. Prosser knew also.
Kleptoberg also knew the count wasn't official when she tried to steal the election. She knew the count hadn't been certified by the Secretary of State. Had to know. Everybody knew. And she ... a lawyer!
It's patently obvious ... Kleptoberg tried to steal the election. And for that, she should be banned from ever seeking public office ever again.
Ah hell, Rev is doing his Bill O'Reilly thing again. Someone reassure him that he's a moderate.
The sad thing is that you're probably dumb enough to believe that.
Ok Rev, maybe you can explain why, in a thread about Kloppenburg, you feel the need to remind everyone that you're not a Birther.
Twice.
Ok Rev, maybe you can explain why, in a thread about Kloppenburg, you feel the need to remind everyone that you're not a Birther.
I find it much more amusing to watch you guess. :)
Coward.
I have to wonder: where is Kloppenburg's birth certificate? How come she has never shown us?
I mean, she doesn't really even look like she has human DNA. Why hasn't she shown us her DNA sequence? What is she hiding?
I'm afraid that if I answer your question the moderate masses will shun me again.
