You've seen the sign. Here's the song choice:
1. The Ohio Players, "I Want To Be Free."
2. The Monkees, "I Wanna Be Free."
3. Queen, "I Want To Break Free."
Vote based on the song, not the visuals in the video:

I'd take Devo's "Freedom Of Choice" over them all.
I AM free not to listed to those songs. Ha!
It's a lovely spring day in South Carolina and I am free to go enjoy it. Have a nice day you shivering cheeseheads.
Those songs are unbearable. I found better Elvis Presley one. Haven't thought much about birds being especially free in trees, though. I tend to think of birds being most free when they're soaring. But it's something interesting to think about.
The stupid poll site that you used wouldn't "let me be free" from their "prize" and survey. I had to contol-alt-delete to get away from it.
Suggest you use another poll provider next time. Doesn't Blogger have a poll widget?
Freddy!
4. The Who ~ I'm Free
carry on
Freebird by Lynard Skynard. I don't much care for the lyrics, but I always felt the music expressed the feeling of freedom.
An inspiring subject produces 3 absolute stinker songs. Probably the worst song in each artist's catalog.
Free me from these lame Decemberists tickets!!
@shiloh If we're moving on to "I'm Free," I prefer The Rolling Stones.
If we're still not free and longing to be free, I should include The Kinks.
I was a big Who fan in the pre-"Tommy" period. They never were better than "I Can't Explain," which was their first US single (though their clothes got a lot better).
You forgot The Commodores and "Easy."
I tried to listen to the first one all the way through. I thought it would be easy to listen to the Monkeys but I gave up. I gave up even more quickly with Queen.
Please may we have a "none of the above?"
In the end Davey has a pleasant voice and if I had to listen to one of them I'd probably pick that one and turn down the volume.
Oh wow, that Elvis one is hideous. Ack!
That's one heck of a list of songs. All three of those bands made some excellent songs (and Queen some great ones) but those are three of their worst. I voted for The Ohio Players based solely on the Honey album cover. My only possible explanations for the big Queen vote are:
1. A lot of people are acknowledging that Queen is the better of the three bands.
2. A lot of people got a laugh out of the video even though the song was terrible.
3. A lot of people have the same reaction to Freddy as I have to the Honey album cover. NTTAWWT.
Baba O'Riley was The Who's best song, not a close call ...
But let the record show "we" do have one thing in common ~ gasp! ;) as I was a Kink's fanatic also!
The Who and the Kinks were the bad boys ~ what's not to like.
Love Reign O'er Me
Althouse - Have you ever done a post on the Monkees. I notice you don't have a tag. I'd like to hear both you and Crack do a riff on them. You were definitely the target market for the TV show. Crack would come at them from the position of someone from the music industry who has a "special take" on the 60's.
Personally, I wish that during their first press conference one of them had said, "Wait! What are you morons talking about? We were hired as actors who can sing. We work with the best studio musicians in LA. It's an honor to work with them. They can play better than anyone in the world. We tell jokes. Make a TV show. Sing songs. It's the best job I've ever had. Probably the best job I'll ever have in my life." Probably wouldn't have made a difference. But you never know.
On the freedom theme, I have a write in vote - U.S.S. of A.:

His hat makes him look like Mike Nesmith...so Monkees it is!

From Alan Parsons Project my favorite song about Freedom
Everybody's Free (To Feel Good)
I went with the Queen song mostly because it was the only one that wasn't tiresome period wallpaper. The Monkees could be a decent pop assemblage, mostly when the studio musicians were given a good Neil Diamond piece to play. The other band... boy, that was boring.
This is not one of the options, but
Teenage Wind in Madison
trumps them all.
(Free is when you don't have to pay for nothing or do nothing. We want to be free!)
