I'm not saying that these protests are boring but i am reminded of my Reporter friend that had to go to EVERY city council meeting in our 15,000 pop home town for 30 years.

Now the disclaimer.

Gentle commenters, do not construe this as a call to quit covering it. This is a personal opinion, not a value judgement. It is a humourous aside.

You pay your dues when you are the press. Maybe something exciting will happen again.

Nice little bit of anti-Semitism you got there, especially right after the anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Rising.

Say, "Hello", to your buddies Adolf, Heinrich, and Reinhard (not to mention Josef and Lavrenti) next time you see them.

PS Anybody wondering why Little Zero wants the Feds to divest GM at this particular moment?

We were told how urgent it was to save those 3 million jobs 2 years ago.

Rhetorical Question? Gas prices rising, Volt a failure, GM losses likely…worse in Summer 2012….better to sell now, that way you may forget the pain inflicted on you in 2009 by the bail-out and its subsequent failure. It’s politics, Obama doesn’t even think GM is going to make it.

Real for you is a long read of the Daily Worker, the New China Daily, and off to the message boards at Kos to get your talking points. And then you have to wank off to make yourself feel tough enough to come here.

PC Nothing PC about standing against anti-Semitism. All you Lefties are such dhimmis (or dhummies, if you prefer) anymore, so afraid the Moslems will come after you, you'll do anything to try to appease them. People will do as they will, but I find it’s pointless to argue with a small voice who’s major goal is provoke a reaction and so prove its own existence…it’s arguing with a fool.

The ARGUMENT is the reason the small pathetic voice is here. No one notices the voice otherwise, and no matter what it does to improve its blog, apparently, the result is the same, silence, in its own life. To relieve that silence, to prove its relevance the small voice wanders by a real web site in order to feel “real.”

I try to avoid arguing with a voice that has no other reason to be, other than to prove, to itself, it is….

They were the first corporate sponsors to pull advertising from Wonkette yesterday. I surmise that because PJs are a large, well-known company, the matter gained a lot of traction instantly with other corporations, like Huggies.

After I tweeted yesterday, two others replied back that they were looking into the matter. Macmillan Cancer in the UK, and Broward Health in Florida.

I don't say it every time, Fprawl, but regular readers know: A "café" post on this blog is an open thread. You can talk about whatever you want. I just put up a photo to make it look interesting on the front page. The photo does not restrict the topic.

Sometimes the term isn't "café" -- you'll also see teahouse, restaurant, tavern, hotel, etc. etc.

But these are open threads and should be treated as such.

Madison, Wisconsin, the now world famous home of the beta male. Come visit and see them in their natural habitat. Watch the mating ritual complete with flamboyant displays to attract the females, and hear their strange mating calls of "fuck you", and "go home". All part of their simple yet endless vocabulary of chants and taunts designed to entice the opposite sex into a disappointing mating, culminating in a state funded medical procedure. Come see it all wrapped in the beauty of the Wisconsin springtime.

If the expressed anti-corporation sentiment is not exactly disingenuous, it's at least a bit misguided. It's almost as if Nike, Adidas, Apple, Amazon, Gap, J Crew, Abercrombie and the other fab outfitters and suppliers of the "proletariat" have been given some kind of dispensation.

Depends on whose mouth.

"Bordello" or "Bagnio" will also work, a tad more elegant. "Den of Iniquity" or "House of Assignation" for the verbose.

SGT Ted said...

Unions are greedy corporations only interested in money. You can tell by the way they act.

Paddy O said...

"Will you also call for an investigation when the prices fall out of sight?"

Of course not. As consumers we can and should pursue our interests, it is in our interests to have lower gas prices for all kinds of reasons, and it is the broader interest because the money that goes into gas would otherwise go some other direction

Not that this is even likely to ever happen again for about 100 years, but if gas prices do bottom out you can absolutely bet that the oil companies will push for some kind of investigation and response, because that is in their interest. So checks and balances are made in the context of competing interests.

Right now, the consumer is getting hammered in every direction because it sure does seem that some corporations and industries are allowed to abuse the system while the government ignores or fosters their abuse. Like with banks.

-I'm not beholden to those radical Tea Partiers like my opponent (the 2012 version of "I'm not Bush")
-The economy is moving up (of course, the critical elelment there is what the economy will be in 2012)

Not to mention awesome landscaping. I don't think there is any more impressive gardening than at universities.

And it's all sort of conflicting. On the one hand it's excessively pleasant. On the other hand I'm thinking of how much everything costs and who ultimately pays for it.

It's interesting to see just how much influence the Tea Party will have in 2012.

The problem with the Tea Party, for Obama and his ilk anyway, is that it is an amorphous, leaderless group. Criticism becomes shadow boxing. The Left were flailing like flounder until they went after the Koch Bros' billionaires meeting, but to most Americans, that still sounds like Glenn Beck's Soros obsession -- weak, paranoid, bizarre.

In psychiatry, the term neologism is used to describe the use of words that only have meaning to the person who uses them, independent of their common meaning.[2] This is considered normal in children, but a symptom of thought disorder (indicative of a psychotic mental illness, such as schizophrenia) in adults.[3] People with autism also may create neologisms.[4] In addition, use of neologisms may be related to aphasia acquired after brain damage resulting from a stroke or head injury.

"Bordello" or "Bagnio" will also work, a tad more elegant. "Den of Iniquity" or "House of Assignation" for the verbose.

Jeez, what the hell is wrong with "cathouse"?

Oh, no, mum. This is no roadside dive. You want people to think Harry Reid slept here?

This is a parlor house. Think Charles and Belle Cora.

Kimsch, I don't see Ann as a Madam.
Synova maybe, or DBQ possibly. Freeman is too fertile; she must be protected. Possibly Beth, who is used to cathouses populating New Orleans. Me, I'm bad with money, and wouldn't know how to deal with crabs, so I'm out.

Call Ann Madame because she is a married lady, but, yes, I can see the good Professor in a fitted, off-the-shoulder, black velvet something, wearing a picture hat and some very expensive jewelry (gifts of admirers) explaining the delights in store ("Let's take a closer look at those breasts").

PS I see what you mean about DBQ (no offense, ma'am), but I think you would make a splendid countess. It's all about display and your charm and saucy worldliness would make you an excellent inducement to step through the front door.

In any case, you call a doctor to deal with the crabs and let your accountant having grazing rights on the place

Cat house talk (not to mention any sort of PC offending talk) seems flat post-Deadwood.

Didn't mean to start something.

Actually, that's exactly what I meant to do.

And, you, a... translator?

Needless to say, there's a difference between madam and Madame, but a woman can be both.

PS If I see Ann in black, you would be in your heliotrope boa (matching evening gloves and hose, naturally) with a glass of champagne in your dainty hand.

You know what cracked me up about this Hannity Muslim caller? That he had the audacity (oft-heard) to suggest the State of Israel exists because Christians used the Bible as justification for putting them there.

Because these idiots have never heard that Israel is where Hebrews come from.

Also note that Helen Thomas shares the view that Jews should go back to where they belong -- Germany, Poland, New York.

It's incomprehensible to me.

Of course its nuts. Its all nuts. I was quoting you quoting that moron J to get a rise out him with his own crap inverted back to him. Just to see what he would sputter. I guess it didn't come across that way. Same as with my other nasty comment to get a rise out him as well. Shouldn't feed the trolls. My bad. Sorry.

London Times, 1891: On the death of the showman P.T. Barnum:

"His name is a proverb already, and will continue to be a proverb until mankind has ceased to find pleasure in the comedy of a harmless deceiver and the willingly deceived."

The above is part of an interesting, extensive NYT obituary:

And at one point, a strange choice of words: "The scene at the deathbed was deeply pathetic."

Dealt the fucking Jew card.
Hang on to it - 'cause these are the chosen ones.
Discard - as they are oppressors to the righteous hard working Palestine peoples.
Hold - because when led correctly, they act in self interest.
Discard - because the liberal
American Jews are not in alignment with any notions of self preservation.

J - well played!
