Identical triplets, aged 11, 11, and newborn.

The third one, previously frozen, arrives at long last.

Minor correction (unless I'm wrong; which I am often). They would be fraternal triplets, not identical triplets. Multiple eggs are harvested for IVF.

That leaves 11 siblings (human lives!) still in the freezer. Question for theologians: in the event of a power failure, how much time would they have to be baptized in order to avoid being sent to hell for original sin? Assume the freezer warms at 10 degrees per hour, and show your work, please.

I thought unbaptized babies went to Limbo.

Fresh produce is much tastier than the frozen variety. We'd have to find a cannibal to see if that applies to babies.

Ryleigh is a bad name. A really bad name.

Even though it sounds weird, at least this family gets to have kids.

Kind of where they are now.

I'm going to second Steven and call for "identical" to be pulled down.

Irish twins ten times removed.

One of the older girls could, in a few years, give birth to one of her siblings.

Hindi-nagpakilala ayon kay ...

Yep. Not identical. Identical triplets would all come from the same egg. These girls came from separate eggs.

It's really rather shocking that each of the implanted embryos took. How often does that happen?

The miracle of modern science aiding a miracle of God.

Embryos aren't implanted. They are transferred, and then you hope for implantation (and resultant pregnancy). And these girls are not identical (though identical twinning is slightly more common in IVF pregnancies but it takes place in the uterus after embryo transfer).

I agree with taking down the identical part. From the photo, the twins are fraternal, not identical, (noted in the article too as two eggs were transferred). And as Ryleigh is obviously from a completely different egg and not in utero at the same time as the twins, she is just a sister...

Waiting eleven years seems kind of creepy.

Althouse should correct the headline in 11 years.

Synova, the rate of implantation success 8 years ago was 33% so the docs implanted two embryos.

When we had the procedure done, they thawed three embryos, all were graded A or better, so they implanted all three.

Without telling us.

Lauren, Peter and Thomas just celebrated their 8th birthday and Christmas.

The odds are 33%. But God does what He wishes. 8)

Trey - whose triplets are fraternal too

ditto the "creepy" part. And it could, if the parents were ok with donation, could have been with completely different parents (biologic but not genetic).
