It's a 3000 pound car with 300 horsepower, shitloads of torque, and rear wheel drive. And you live in...WISCONSIN.
What could go wrong?
Please consider the 911 turbo, or the Carrera 4, both available in all wheel drive. I don't want to read about you and Meade ending up dead next winter.
The Boxster like the Mazda Miata has aged well but I don't like this one. Porsche makes a lot of bux decontenting their cars and charging more money. The Spider loses its convertible top and AC, plus door handles and more. The similarly lightweighted '94 911 RS Americas have held up pricewise over the years and this might too, but the canvas tent fly top isn't useful or attractive, nor is the dowager's hump they've grafted in the trunk.
Pastafarian - they've removed 150# and bumped the HP to 320. What could possibly go wrong will arrive somewhat sooner than with a standard Boxster.

So Althouse is look for a new car. (buy used!)
And they match the garish red seat belts. I guess those are so that "The Man" can tell that you're wearing them.
And really, why do they want to hark back to the cars of 1973?
A Porsche sports car should be fun. It has no other use.
Not the coolest wheels I've ever seen.
The Blonde was checking out their SUV at a dealership and just about swooned when she saw $90,000.
Now that's sticker shock.
How far can it go on a single battery charge?
Jeez, I don't remember those straps on any of the 911 RS 2.7s that I drove in 1973.
I thought that the Althouse TT was looking a little dated in the recent photo where we could see it in the corner.
One option is the new TT. Or, Meade could go out to the driveway and make some mods.
"The interior door handles are red straps..."
"...convenient for the man with a small penis."
The Volt looks good.
For those rare days when a 20 miles radius isn't enough, you can switch to a bicycle.
Here in The Hamptons, we've never stopped marvelling at, nor chattering about, the red straps on the 1973 Porsche 911. John Kerry had one, I believe.
Ah, yes! The straps of 1973! We were all so much younger then.
A few years prior to '73 a fellow draftee was fatuously explaining to me that a "sports car has nothing on it that doesn't make it go faster."
That included doing without things like door handles, window cranks, or, in the case of his TR3, windows.
Well, let's see.
