My compliments, Madame. It must be arduous to take each leaf off the tree, run a hot iron over every seam, and then place each on the exact node whence it came, especially after a hard day of conlawproffing.
New pine growth is surprisingly soft too, almost rubbery feeling.
New leaves remind me of newborns. They come out crunched up and tightly pressed together and then in the first hours following birth begin to fluff up as they unfurl.
I didn't notice this so much with our children, but when my niece was born I had the opportunity to watch her uncurl and begin taking up more space. It was amazing to see. There's no going back or undoing the change and growth that happens when life bursts forth.

Crisply pleated?
Trees in shorts?
I like the tender feel of the new leaf. Not old and hard, like in June.

I love this picture.
"The new leaves are crisply pleated..."
Honestly got a kick out of this comment.
Not a kick pleat, mind you...
Her early leaf's a flower,
But only so an hour.
Frost
Good thing David Brooks hasn't seen these leaves yet.
(Honestly, 11 comments and no one made a Brooks crack yet? wtf?)
