the juxtaposition of this gorgeous flower post with the public sex anxiety post is too funny. but i guess you kept the 'hippy lover chick' title for a reason.
Our peonies are blooming, a bit early. They normally bloom for our anniversary (next week), not Memorial Day. The original plants bloom for Memorial Day every year- these are transplants from a family cemetery in Kansas... guess it's either the "global warming" or a late Memorial Day.
This morning the green fists of the peonies are getting ready to break my heart as the sun rises, as the sun strokes them with his old, buttery fingers
Gretchen, Peonies have always been my mother's Memorial Day grave decorating flower of choice. She's in Kentucky (as I think I've mentioned probably to excess here), and they were usually almost to their peak by Memorial Day. This year, they are going full throttle. I think it's because we've had a weird Spring--overly cold early, and then really warm in April. Things have been blooming willy-nilly, without waiting for their usual assigned entrances. I'm not complaining, though.

danielle: ah. safety
LOL
Was that rude or what?
@danielle The peony is quite sexy.
My compliments, Madame. You're on a roll with your floral images, so bright and beautiful.
It's nice that you get off (metaphorically, of course) on Nature.

You mean like the pomegranate?
maybe the peony is sexy. but i doubt it will inspire old men to tell their favorite sex tales with TMI.
in the wise words of Whodini , they're coming out, and they've got a thread to go to town on.
=)

"old men"
I could be wrong but I think the politically correct term nowadays is something more like "subhumans."
i know, i know -- the qualifier will get me in trouble here.
never is fun to hear men discussing their exploits, but when done by men beyond a certain age, it moves from TMI to disturbing.
Glorious, thank you.

At any rate- they're blooming and are glorious!
From Mary Oliver's poem, Peonies:
This morning the green fists of the peonies are getting ready
to break my heart
as the sun rises,
as the sun strokes them with his old, buttery fingers
On the last peony post down, my faith was renewed by a number of commenters.
I've been in class all week, away from the keyboard by force, and didn't thank one and all in time.
Peonies bring out the best in folk.
Growing up our peonies always had lots of ants crawling over them
A fabulous toast!
Thank you!
You are so sly TradGuy.
