When the two broke out of protective their shells with a kiss of kisses, they could never put their shells back together again and became one. I admire the film maker for using visuals that tell the story without dialogue.
C3... Don't give up. She is waiting out there somewhere for your kiss that will shatter her old boundaries so that you two can build new ones together.(also See, The Song of Songs).
C3...I take it that Matrix reloaded is not a Disney Film? I still like the famous Pasternak line from Dr Zhivago to the effect that some people need to keep life and love going on while the warriors for Scientific of Materialism crush human life in their noble goal of killing imperfect life. So this maybe Lara and Zhivago seeing one another in Siberia.

C3...That is also called Song of Solomon in the scriptures ( in the X-rated section) and written as a metaphor for the Christ and his bride. And the details are all there. The lady sees her lover's beauty in a living and sweet smelling body and he sees her's the same way, much like this Video, and they consumate their intimate and passionate relationship, and then they lose touch and long for reuniting with the other like Zhivago and Lara. One of the famous closing lines is that "love is stronger than death". Who knew that Jehovah was a romantic.
C3...The French commentater sees a smart Swiss competitor blown away by a German's superior weapon. That is tres jolie. Only an Austrian named Freud could understand the depth of meaning behind that one. But the subject is KISSING, not large male weapons. They come later on. Never forget the foreplay.
This reminds me of the first 15 minutes of "Up". Film making at it's finest. It tells the story of how Carl and Ellie met, and how they spent their lives together. Most of that segment is told visually, and it's stunning in its effectiveness. Seen that three times, and cried each time! If I were to write a textbook on how to make movies, whether live action or animated, that segment would get a whole chapter. Just for that segment alone, I would give it the Oscar.

Should've taken the blue pill.
When the two broke out of protective their shells with a kiss of kisses...
Or maybe they were just cool special effects without much deeper meaning.
Interesting "Nuit Blanche" translates as "white night" but means "a sleepless night". Ironic given the film noir technique.
But again, the film has more effect than meaning.

tg;
I just do see the metaphor. I mean the film ends with them still behind their protective shells
It just felt too much like that fight scene on the highway on the semi's in "Matrix Reloaded" (here) also a "confused" movie (but really cool!!!)

Wow, that seems like a stretch to me. And from a director who was so "nature-oriented" (i.e. beautiful wide screen landscape shots)
But I LOVE ZHIVAGO

I like the way you think.
Pretty nice. "Sleepless Nights" by Gram & Emmylou gives me chills...

also See, The Song of Songs)
details please
More "cool stuff". The Making of Nuit Blanche
I bet there's a Director's cut out there somewhere.
Pssst...
She didn't really go through the glass and the car didn't really hit him.
I'm piling on now but...
The Director IS the Cinematographer...
so pretty pictures but limited narrative

Oh that song of songs, yeah I knew that. I thought there was some movie named "Song of Songs"
PS: I rummaged around the Spy films site. Now this this is what was missing from the Winter Olympics.

Am I totally a terrible person? I laughed out loud at that.

The music is terrific. I wouldn't mind hearing Theo expound on it, but I think it suits the hyper-realism, dream sequence quality of the film.
Better that many of the Oscar nominated stuff.
