This is more about Obama's freefall than Palin's rise. It's not over now, baby blue! Obama has no control over any department of his administration, and is egging the congress on to pass legislation that no one wants. He uses fiat to circumvent the congress. We will soon all be criminals for exhaling. That essential gas for plant respiration is a deadly pollutant. Let's eradicate it altogether and see what happens! Let's send 30000 more troops to chase the 100 Al-Qaida around Afghanastan and then leave. Let's try the terrorists in NYC! Let the survivors and the non-survivors families suffer some more as they give a platform to the hate mongers. ETC,.
Palladian - it's always good to play both sides against each other. That way I get to pick the winner and stay on that side. I have no real morality other then "look out for #1" and screw everyone else! But that just makes me a good Republican.

So you enjoy being a liar? Or are you some sort of truthiness teller now?
"Last week, when President Obama got to his feet at the U.S. West Point military academy to outline his administration's plans for America's future in Afghanistan, one subject was conspicuous by its total absence from his 40-minute speech.
For while he made much of the surge in troop numbers and the controversial phased withdrawal planned for 18 months' time, there wasn't a single mention of America's main ally in the region, Britain."
Is Obama just that stupid that he doesn't know who are friends are? Or does he have a daddy doesn't love me complex and is exacting revenge for his deadbeat Kenyon father?
I am a Palin nut and can't wait until she whips President God Damn America.
That said, those who are calling apples & oranges here are exactly right. It's not a fair comparison. On the other hand, her job approval rating in Alaska was close to 60% when she resigned.
I will really have a horse laugh when Obama's line crosses George Bush's and Dick Cheney's. At this rate I am calling it for second quarter 2010.
Obama is in trouble because he is trying to "fix" things that no one asked him to mess with and screwing it up in the process.
I think that you are understating his problem. He starts off by flushing almost a trillion dollars down the drain paying off constituents (esp. government workers), and calling it stimulus. Then, almost a half a trillion in an appropriations bill that had 8,000 earmarks (again, calling it Bush's problem, despite it having been written in its entirety by his own party).
Fine.
But then, he jumps into Health Care "Reform" and Tax and Bribe (aka Cap and Trade). The public is strongly opposed to both, and yet, he keeps pushing them, lying through his teeth about their contents and the problems they are supposed to fix whenever he can. And, even if he can't get the later fixed, his EPA is poised to destroy our economy in the name of alleged CO2 emissions causing AGW (at a time when much of the country is digging out of snow storms).
And, of course, on an international level, he has cozened up to our enemies, while abandoning our friends.
All of a sudden, a lot of those who voted for President Obama are waking up and realizing that those horrid conservatives were right last year, Obama really is a socialist at heart, and has no conception of how to run this country or get us out of a recession, that he and his have heightened by their feckless and reckless spending. He was rated the most liberal member of the Senate for a reason. His people obviously felt that they could sneak a quick payoff for his backers from the federal trough, and it backfired.
This country is not yet ready for Chicago style politics. And that is probably his biggest failing.
Worse news yet, Bush is at 44% of those preferring him to Obama (50%). That is UNBELIEVABLE considering the low approval ratings enjoyed by President Bush.
I don't read much into it, except for the fact that it shows how desperate Americans are for true leadership. You can say whatever you want about Bush -- but the man could lead.
I actually think people expect Sarah to fix things. She's got a soapbox and people are paying attention. Her followers want her to voice their hopes and fears.
She's definitely gearing up to the 2010 election cycle. She is a fantastic fund-raiser and RINO buster as we saw in the NY-23 special election. I suspect she's going to start pushing a platform a few months into next year and she'll start picking candidates to endorse based on that platform. But, mostly, she's a fantastic monkey-wrencher. She appears to be sincere in critiques, and she, or her writers, have come up with some nice hooks (e.g. "Death Panels").
I envision a policy book coming out June or July, in time for the summertime beach-reading. (I imagine a title like, "Sarah Palin: Running Across America" or something like that.)

No, because favorability isn't approval. Obama's favorability is much higher than Palin's.
This is racist.
But Barack is so sophisticated, so intellectual, so cool, so sexy...
It's got to be a plot to kill all the Hope.
And that Cheney guy, he's so, so...
Old.
And Barack is young, he's hip, he's...

Looks like the Rogue made a powerfully good decision when she resigned as a Governor and started running for President in the lower 48.
Sure, if you compare a job approval rating from Gallup, to a CNN popularity poll. But Palin doesn't have a job. Neat trick!
Yeah, it's apples and oranges.
Of course, it's easier to be popular when no one is looking to you to fix anything. Not any time soon anyway.
Ann - the point is that Sarah Palin is not the pariah that the lefties make her out to be.
"Of course, it's easier to be popular when no one is looking to you to fix anything."
No intelligent person looks to Barack Obama to fix anything.

I pretty much dislike them both equally. Is that what's being polled?
Has anyone ever noticed that Alex is the most brazenly unconcealed troll on this blog?
"I pretty much dislike them both equally. Is that what's being polled?"
Polls about politicians always ask the unwritten question: "which of these unlikeable people is slightly less unlikeable?"

Thanks for the explication, Titus. Er... Alex...
Palladian, re: your 10:08 question, yes, I pointed it out months ago.
Beth - life is too boring to not troll. I'm a proud one.

I enjoy stirring the shit on Althouse. I Think she enjoys it too as long as the debate keeps going on.
I mean who cares if I advocate for both sides? As long as I remain logical and reasoned - that's all that counts. Think of it as a Socratic exercise!
Alex... Don't let them get you down. You can always start over as a Climate Scientist
I thought this blog only allowed trolls to comment.

Hehehe. Nice to have Palladian back here.

Who cares? This is politics, where the motto is
SPIN to WIN!
"But Palin doesn't have a job. Neat trick!"
I'll say. She ain't got a job but she's rakin' in the big bux. That is a neat trick!!

I love this president, I dont like Sarah.
Does that make me a troll?

The second part doesn't really make you anything. Lots of non-trolls like and dislike Palin. The first part just makes you stupid.

In any case, none of the three leading GOP candidates - Palin, Romney and Huckabee - have a day job now, so they can snipe away with abandon.

It is not good for Obama to be compared to Palin.
It makes him look like a lightweight, which he is.
W., Obama, Palin. Enough.
