I'm pretty sure they had seatbelts in Texas before Mr. Toney was incarcerated.

He was enjoying freedom from restraint when he flew from the vehicle.

A couple of the ads on the linked page are things you wouldn't see in, say, the Washington Post: Branded by Christ Cowboy Church, and an exhortation to stock your fish pond.

From the article: "Mr. Toney was arrested in 1997 while jailed on an unrelated charge.

He told another inmate that he committed the bombing, although he later testified that it was a scam to get another inmate released. He said he played along with the charges because he thought he was behind bars at the time of the bombing."

It truely is tough going through life when you are stupid.

He was enjoying freedom from restraint...

Nicely done!

Sounds like there was a problem with the prosecution, not a revelation showing that he was innocent.

For all we know, Mr. Toney lived 10 years longer than he would have if not convicted. Kind of seems likely, actually.

I was interested to read that a Justice of the Peace proclaimed him dead.

Does anyone else have power to proclaim that?

I do. So you really don't want to piss me off.

The GPS told him to get back death road ;)

The whole tone of that article was weird. The guy was driving recklessly, not wearing a seatbelt, and died when he was ejected from the truck as he lost control of it. But the tone of the article removes the victim's responsibility for his own death. Even the phrase "one vehicle accident" makes it sound as if the road somehow decided to make him crash. I don't get it.

His website doesn't indicate that he admitted to the bombing rather another inmate said Toney told him he did it.

Another abusive childhood - deserting father, screwy mother.

Bearbee, an abusive childhood is no excuse for becoming a criminal much less a murderer.

Saddest thing I have heard in many years. The adjustment period was not easy on him. May he rest in peace.

Innocence is no excuse.

Sounds like an appointment in Samarra to me.

He told one of the jailhouse snitches that he had been paid $5000 to do the bombing then planted it at the wrong house.

Considering that little nugget, the one vehicle accident suddenly doesn't sound so accidental to me.

Traditionaguy says this is the saddest thing he's heard in years.

Yeah! Much worse than the 45,000 people who die every year for lack of health insurance.
