Very cool. (Via Metachat.) Now, there is a men-in-shorts issue here, but I'm going to give this one the okay, because it's clearly satirical fashion. And because it's Madonna! Anything Madonna does is automatically right, within the context of Madonna.

I know there are some Madonna wrongs, but I plan to assert that none of these are "in the context of Madonna."
Carry on.
Rank hypocrisy!
I hate to say it, but I covered the DNC for my news blog wearing shorts, most days. It was hot.
And yes, as I got dressed each day, I did think "Ann Althouse would NOT APPROVE."
I love that so many guys think of me when they are putting on their pants.
I just don't get Madonna.
I also never think of Ann until I've made coffee and worked through Drudge, NYT opinion page, Dilbert, WSJ opinion, weather underground, and mail.
I've had my pants on for an hour by that time.
I'm here for all the guys who do all those things and still haven't put on their pants.
Ella--classic. Best voice in the jazz/popular music world, IMHO. Dinah Shore is often underrated or overlooked--it's great to see her get her due here with Ella.

Calm down, just when we slip on our shorts, Ann.
Growllll..
"I love that so many guys think of me when they are putting on their pants."
What about the ones that think of you when they are taking off their pants?
I remember the 80's. God help me.
Bob R, would you please, please start up a 12 step program for people like you and me?
My brain is still stuck at 1986.
Honestly.
And that's not good.
And it hurts.
But I'm willing to change.
And I'm willing to work at it.
And I'm willing to put a bumper sticker on my hybrid SUV that says: ANOTHER FRIEND OF BOB R.
I swear to my higher power.
Well I am Dr. Bob (but only because of a Ph.D. in mathematics). But I have not yet accepted that I have no power over the 80's. I can throw those skinny ties out of my closet any time I want to.
Fabulous list. The Pavarotti/James Brown duet of "It's a Man's World" was just incredible: it made my day.
Sylvia Plath reading Daddy drains that poem of life and death and menace, and replaces those commodities with New England rectitude cum pop song cum flashdance. A very upright, Christian syntax. A very erect phallus poking her brain. A jarring, drubbing experience for the listenner who knows none of that--scrubbed clean of flinty, ashen bohemianism (by the rolls of wars, wars, wars).
It goes down like butter and gin.
If if was much hotter, I'd dip my head in the waters of beautiful Nausset where it pours bean green over blue. As it is, I'll have to settle for Sean Cody.
Bacon...
Between birth and death there's always been the same thing--the violence of life. Images of life. Sensation. But what is life, but sensation.
