"I don't have plans to be a candidate again so I don't really see it in that context at all," Gore said when asked in an interview with Norway's NRK public television aired on Wednesday about how the award would affect his political future. No plans. How is that ruling out a run? "I don't really see it in that context".... What do you expect him to say about the prize? Now, people can see my true worthiness. That's for us to press him with. He can't say it. This is a total nonstory.

"Gore rules out presidential bid despite Nobel."
Bogus headline at MSNBC. (And I know I'm encouraging it by giving them a link.) Here's the actual Gore quotes:

I just visited the Nobel Committee website.
Am I misreading this or is the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize selected by FIVE people?
"The Norwegian Nobel Committee is responsible for selecting the Nobel Peace Prize Laureates. The Committee is composed of five members appointed by the Storting (Norwegain Parliament). The Committee's composition reflects the relative strengths of the political parties in the Storting, and is assisted by specially appointed expert advisers."
This award is a joke.
"Vice President Gore also ruled out running in the Kentucky Derby or playing for the Stanley Cup. However he is in training for the Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Championship for this upcoming 4th of July. He was quoted as saying 'I don't care what you say...that Chinaman is going down.'"
George said..."This award is a joke."
Gore won, George.
Quit whining...and let it go.
P.S. When someone says they "have no plans"...that's generally what it means. In the case of a politician it can mean almost anything, especially when a convention of fellow Democrats could darg you back into the fold.
*Oh, and by the way...Ronald Reagan told the world he had absolutely "no plans" to ever deal with terrorists...but the did. He traded arms for hostages we didn't get back and he allowed Ollie North to send money and arms into Central America.
Oh, Lucky...
The population of Norway is 4.6 million people.
This award is no grander than the Alabama legislature Highways Subcommittee giving a safe driving award to a truck driver.
Most people probably think it's the result of voting by thousands of the world's scientists, theologians, and politicians...
I mean, really, five (!) local Norwegian politicians decide who gets this earth-shattering honor! It's fodder for The Onion.
George,
If you or one of your children (if you have children) won a Nobel Prize, would you tell them to shove it?
I can't believe the insane right wing "we hate Al Gore" lunacy you find here.
*And yeah, yeah, yeah...I know...Arafat won one, too.
Oh, and they've only been awarding them since...1901.
I'm waiting on his MTV and VH1 award that I am certain is right around the corner somewhere.
I think he's also planning on creating the new Leni Reifenstahl documentary award with Michael Moore.
George,
I forgot to add this: Thousands of people are asked for nominations, then discussed by people from their fields of expertise...BEFORE...the winner is selected.
It's not like a scratch-off you pick up at the grocery store.
Al is to be congratulated for winning the Nobel. I would sure accept one--esp the stipend that goes with it!
And I hope he does jump into the race--this is a guy who allegedly endorses renditions ("grab his ass"). And mostly I want to see team Clinton's reaction--in my opinion, Gore would be the most qualified Democratic candidate.
Vice President Gore did speculate that he might enter the Iditarod sled race. Unfortunately seventeen huskies have committed suicide at the news. Film at eleven.

Didn't you hear? That's been cancelled because all the snow melted.
Mr. Gore has made preliminary inquires about entering the Miss America pageant. But once again he was undone by a hanging chad. (That’s Tippers pet name for it, she is a big Medical Center fan).

Ok you win.
Hoosier this is an exhibition not a competition. Wagering is not permitted. We compete for the love of the game.
To augment his portfoliio, coming this spring, "An Inconvenient Truth, The Musical" comes to Broadway and next fall on NBC an new comedy "An Inconvenient Truth, You Wish". Laughs, hijinks and romance as three males, three females, and one transgender scientist in Thule Greenland take turns measuring the ice.
Jealousy isn't an admirable trait. Drooling while jealous, as in George, is not only pathetic but messy.
Gore won. I don't think Bush was nominated. Just a hunch.
Lucky--
Yes, lots of nominees' name are submitted.
Nonetheless, the following five (count them 5!) people meet and pick the winner....

If these were five members of the Alabama legislature, nobody would take the prize seriously. It doesn't matter to me who the winner is...
I'd love to read profiles of the above five people to learn what wizards they are...Directorate of Cultural Heritage?....Sounds like the Scandanvian chapter of the Ku Klux Klan to me...
Hoosier Daddy said..."Didn't you hear? That's been cancelled because all the snow melted."
And it is, too.
George,
Good Lord...GIVE IT UP, GEORGE.
The man won...and he's an AMERICAN to boot.
Why can't you merely give him his due and move on?

Rinse and repeat.
He has no plans to be a candidate. I'd take that as a "no." Actually, I DO take that as a no.
Kine of hard to run for office without making plans. Messy that way.
======================
As regards the wankers above, it's just more ad hominem from the hateful right.
Conservatives are a hating bunch and they hate most Americans including liberals, people who oppose their war in Iraq (majority), people who need help with health care costs, people who worship a different God, people who don't worship any God, Democrats, feminists, environmentalists, labor union members.
And that's a lot of hating to do, but that's our conservatives.
Speaking of Presidents and those who may be:
This from, of all people...LOU DOBBS..who appears to agree with, of all people...ME:
NEW YORK (CNN) Lou Dobbs says President Bush has diminished a great nation and may diminish it further.
Frankly, I spend more time worrying about whether or not the United States can survive the remaining 15 months of his ebbing presidency.
There is little mystery about what future historians will consider to be the legacy of the 43rd president of the United States. Those historians are certain to describe the first presidential administration of the 21st century with terms such as dissipation and perversion.
Bush campaigned for the Republican Party's nomination eight years ago, styling himself as a compassionate conservative. He's amply demonstrated that he is neither.
Although many conservatives refuse to accept the reality, George W. Bush is a one-world neo-liberal who drove budget and trade deficits to record heights while embracing faith-based economic policies that perversely require only blind allegiance to free markets and free trade, without regard for consequence.
This president pursues a war without demanding of his generals either success or victory and accepts the sacrifice of our brave young men and women in uniform while asking nothing of our people or the nation at a time of war.
Sadly, this president has diminished a great nation and may diminish it further.
Trooper,
Got a bag of what you're smoking for sale?
Sorry dude, I thought you already lit up a spliff and fell asleep on the enter key. Currently I am enjoying a Arturo Fuente Opus Opus X with some pinot noir, figs and olives. You are welcome anytime.
Conservatives are a hating bunch
Heh..that's funny.
