"Bay leaves! What company makes bay leaves ice cream?"

Just a little Roseanne Roseannadanna moment here this morning.

CORRECTION: I mean Emily Litella. Damn. Never mind. You know what I mean. That was disgusting!

Took me a minute to read the fine print. I thought that was the Emily Littela shtick? 30 years ago!

Ralph, you're right. Thanks. Corrected.

REJECTED FLAVOR: the “Old Bailey”; weak vanilla redolent of stale tobacco and body odor, containing bits of horsehair and dandruff.

ooh...i'll try some.
be sure to drip a little on the floor and forget about it.
what i'd really like is the '90 chateau yquem flavor.

We used to put Creme de Menthe on vanilla ice cream when we were teenagers. Sweet sherry would probably be pretty good, but just a hint. Haagden Dass is too rich for my taste, but I haven't had any in 20 years.

Bissage, there actually is an Bailey's Irish creame flavor in Hageen Das. Not as nice as the frozen Bailey's popsicle's I make in my freezer. Those Dutchman, what a hoot.

Of course Johnnie Nucleo would enjoy the Dirty Sanchez brand of Creme de Caca as a after dinner treat.

Trooper, look at the picture. Ann wouldn't foist a fake on us, would she?

Y'know what's great on vanilla ice cream? Angostura bitters! Mmm mmm. Now I'll be craving it all day.

At our house, we enjoy some mice cream now and then.

You are correct sir. Sorry, I didn't have my coffee or finish throwing up yet. That is the Bailey's Irish Crème ice cream flavor. Once again I am fooled by trick photography. I guess that means those girls that came out of Derek Jeter's condo last night really look like Rosie O'Donnell and Roseanne Barr. You can do alot with digital cameras these days.

Trooper, it’s strange but true. Häagen-Dazs originates from the city of Daraa in Syria. It was invented by José Ferrer and the first flavor was Turkish Bey. He fed it to the double-phallically named Peter O’Toole and it made him cry.

Irrespective of the Armenian Genocide, I am boycotting all Turkish ice cream.

Trooper, I've been making Baileys Irish Ice Cream at home for a few years now in my ice cream maker.
Here's the recipe I use:

1 1/2 cup whole milk
2 cups cream
1/2 granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
teaspoon of peppermint extract
teaspoon of vanilla extract
dash of salt
a squirt of green food coloring
1 cup Bailey’s Irish Cream.

Delicious. And a person feels so mellow and happy after just a bowl.

I know Paddy-O, that's very similar to my recipe. Most people forget the salt, which is key ingredient. This year I experimented with fig ice cream that I made from fresh fig's that I picked off of the tree in my backyard. Good stuff. I make a big bowl and pour a serving of espresso over it. Served with mascarpone cheese and prunes braised in red wine. Yummy.

I like Bailey's ice cream. Its yummy.

I heard Rush advertising bacon coffee---and it sounds disgusting. Surely, I thought, the Boca Java people meant "baking" but, no... there on their website....I'm not even tempted. Bacon coffee sounds so greasy.

Peter Hoh said...

well, there is such a thing as bacon salt.

You grow figs in Brooklyn? Didn't know they were that hardy, but you are close to the ocean. The rental house around the corner cut down their tree, so I can no longer steal them. I thought they were nasty when I was a kid.

Ralph L said...

Salt is also an essential ingredient in pecan pie. Otherwise it's icky sweet.

Trooper York said...

Yes, in every guinea household in Brooklyn, there is a fig tree in the backyard. This year I am making cuttings for my neighbors who lost trees during last winter. Next month I will prune it and wrap it up to protect it. The current tree has lasted about 21 years.

Just to bring the conversation full circle, bacon ice cream.

The Japanese have cow tongue ice cream. Has to be worse than bacon ice cream. And it was bacon coffee that Boca Java advertises, not bacon ice cream.

I once ate bacon and eggs at a diner on the upper east side. Then Jon Tenny walked in and sat next to me to have a cup of coffee. Later that year he got a role on the Closer where he often has coffee with Kyra Sedwick and her family. So I acheived six degrees of Kevin Bacon coffee in one move. Pretty sweet.
