Who goes to stores besides the supermarket anymore?
Stores were always ridiculous, presenting mundane stuff as if it were being presented to royalty ; and now the general shoddiness of the choice in stores is apparent thanks to online choices, far beyond what any actual royalty ever had.
Great pics. Is that Bloomingdale's with all the mannequins in windows? I seem to remember that from the one time I was in NYC. Makes me want to go back...
Except, Ruth Anne, she's losing the slimming effect of all those verticals by staying in shadow. I should check the local mannequins to see if they're social x-rays, too, I doubt it.
Who said there weren't fat chicks, er, people in metropolitan Blue States?
Otherwise, yes - cool pics. Urban night photos are always cool. My grandfather had a photo/travel poster hanging in his garage of downtown Paris with the Eiffel Tower in the background taken at night with an open shutter - a stream of yellow motion headed in one direction, and a stream of red motion headed in the other - with the Eiffel Tower standing still. Totally cool - and I'll never forget it.
Despite being a fairly avid amateur photographer, I admit to being jealous of Althouse. She has an artist's eye, and no amount of technical training or practice can make up for that.
Her pictures have a personality and rhythm that is unmistakably hers. You can recognize an Althouse photo immediately.
Damn.
I wonder how long it will take to sell my equipment on eBay?
Is there anything better than Manhattan when closed? Been working at 57th and Lex for years, and I usually hit the area at 6am. It is peaceful and relaxing, even better after snow.

Bleak the glaring streets of midtown are
After the roar of day departed.
The eye seeks mercy in a star.
Black sky. All comfort has been blotted.

Three pics down from the top:

I have to agree with Ace, you're batman. Excellent pics!
Nice poem, ricpic. Yours?
Yes.
Tim, you think that's fat? Where do you live, Ethiopia?
Ricpic, yes, a nice poem.

The one on the left, closest to the storefront, is fat. Definitely.
The one closest to the camera, not at all.
