"American Idol."

Tonight's show seemed a little lackluster. "I Know I'll NEV-er love this way again." Sorry, I don't have any specific comments. I note the Grammys are going on and that Kelly Clarkson has loomed large over there.

UPDATE: "Idol" got much higher ratings than the Grammys. I'm not surprised. Personally, I've never watched the Grammys. (And I watch movie award shows, even when I'm not very interested in the movies.)

It was lackluster and for me too and disjointed. I also ran out of variations for "You can't be serious," more for those they kept than those they cut.

Thanks for the American Idol blogging, Ann.

Indeed, what IS Kelly Clakson wearing? Are high-waisted pants now the thing? Hmm, I'll have to check out the Project Runway post to find out.

Santino made those pants.

none of this can compare to the ballroom dancing championship contest I saw last night...talk about grace, beauty and performance

Is Ms. Clarkson caterwauling about the Danish cartoons? If so, for what side?

I guess the best part of Idol was the swarmy ladies man getting sent home. Of course Katharine McPhee and Paris Bennet sounded great. The Turkey Cowboy can't last.

I stopped watching the Grammy's when Toto won album and record of the year, the latter for Rosanna. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge Toto fan (lyrics are so-so, musicianship is fantastic), and I learned to play bass by learning several of their songs, and EVERY drummer in 1983 spent hours trying to play the Rosanna durm riff. But there were clearly better albums NOT nominated that year, Dire Straits' Love Over Gold for one. Here is the list of winners that year. But now that I look back, maybe the choices weren't as bad as I thought.
