Message from Scott Adams:
“Pluvicto (round 1) accomplished!
Five more rounds to go.
Six weeks apart
Not expected to feel any improvement until at least two rounds. Might actually feel worse in the short run.
1/3 chance of some improvement.
1/3 chance of miraculous improvement. (Cleared of tumors but not "cured" )
1/3 chance things get worse.
Synergistic with Dr. Soon-Shioh's approach. Pluvicto attacks tumors with precision. His approach tunes your body's natural defenses, and that could mop up what is left, in the best case scenario. And if the Pluvicto doesn't work, the bodily defenses approach can potentially get the whole job done.
We shall find out. Will do both.”

"Whither Teen Vogue?"

There spiral can be traced back a decade ago with the defamatory UVA rape hoax concocted by leftist media- primarily Rolling Stone and echoed against the leftist media wasteland-includint Teen Vogue. The came Nick Sandmann and the lies they spread against him. Deadspin is dead meat, Buzzfeed never had any credibility to start, and then CNN losing their lawsuit. Finally came the coup de grace-all the USAID money dried up, and so did the $. Because no one actually reads these pink slime sites like Slate, and Mother Jones, and Gawker, and Jacobin, except each other, Inga, and foreign islamist terrorist networks and CCP bot aggregator.s

I wish the cafe posts were not always such beautiful pictures. The subjects we discuss are not up to their standard.

My husband just got in touch with a retired friend who volunteers at a Portland good bank. This friend, so progressive that he's encouraging his son, an English language teacher in Korea who's sick of his job and wants to come home, to stay in Korea because the US isn't "safe" right now, says that both local government funds and private donations are easy down - like half of what they usually are.

In other words, the Good Progressives of Portland have decided that making Republicans pay - for something - is more important than feeding the hungry about whom they claim to care so much.

Lefties - your thoughts?

Jamie said...

Sigh. Sorry about the typos. I'm mad at Portland. The private foundations in Houston - not a red city but a whole lot less blue - have converted NRG stadium into a food bank.

@Aggie: These elections really should be easy Republican wins since Trump said his approval ratings are at record highs, prices are down, he’s ended 29 wars, there is no inflation, nobody likes Democrats, and everything is better than it has ever been before.

@Kak, it would be a whole lot easier for Republican campaigners to be competitive if, say, independent voters appeared on the voter rolls so they could vote - which they didn't in Chester County, PA, until late morning. Due to a "mix-up."

Is there any wonder - oh, never mind.

AI Bias: Google AI Says GOP Senator Is a Sex Offender

"Google actually yanked its Gemma AI model from its AI Studios platform after Blackburn presented evidence that it accused her of sexual assault."

"Blackburn revealed that when Gemma was asked, “Has Marsha Blackburn been accused of rape?” it falsely responded that during her 1987 state senate campaign, a state trooper alleged she “pressured him to obtain prescription drugs for her and that the relationship involved non-consensual acts.”

The Tennessee Republican said the allegations were completely untrue and noted that the AI model even botched the year of her campaign — she ran for state senate in 1998. She also pointed out that the links the AI cited to support its claims led users to error pages or unrelated articles."

Not really useful as a fact producer, is it.

Re Scott Adams’ treatment:
A bit of info on Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong’s approach to cancer treatment:
Instead of bombing cancer with strong chemo that hurts good cells too, he trains your immune system to find and kill cancer .
How?
1. Uses tiny “smart” particles to deliver drugs right to the tumor.
2. Gives immune boosters (like ANKTIVA) to wake up your body’s natural killer cells.
3. Makes treatment personal—tailored to your tumor’s weaknesses.
Goal: Stop cancer from coming back, with fewer side effects.
Works best so far in bladder cancer; testing in others.
Made billions off his cancer drug Abraxane.
Highly respected but maybe overhypes his treatments.

Doctor: "You need to sell your possessions and live frugally. No drinking, smoking, red meat, or junk food. Eat only bland foods, whole grains, and vegetables. Move to a place, without electricity or plumbing. And invite your mother-in-law and your wife."
Patient: "And all that will cure me?"
Doctor: "No, but it will be the longest six months of your life!"

What is the prayer - the grace of a happy death? May we all have such.

But I remember when the protracted and painful, but chosen, death of Pope John Paul II was, by circumstance, juxtaposed with the starvation death of Terri Schiavo, whose family were begging to take over all costs and responsibilities of her care from her husband who had already moved on, as they say. At the time, I posted on my long-defunct blog that I hoped I would be given what I needed to face whatever death God has in store for me. That's still my prayer.

Chemo used to be a bitch. A relative got treatments back in the 90s. Felt so bad, they didn't know if it was better to keep on, or go off it and die.

Anything that is less impactful and more targeted is good thing indeed.

Eva Marie said...

And a bit about Pluvicto:
Pluvicto is a targeted radiation treatment for advanced prostate cancer. It’s like a “smart bomb” for cancer cells: It uses a special molecule that sticks to a protein (called PSMA) found on many prostate cancer cells, then delivers radiation directly to kill them from the inside.
So in order to be eligible for Pluvicto your cancer must test positive for PSMA - which most do.

A UPS plane crashed this evening as it was leaving Louisville's airport. It was intended to go to Honolulu, so was full of fuel. The three person crew was killed. It hit a petroleum recycling place and an auto parts scrapyard. I think it may be a while before they know how many people, if any, on the ground. I believe some people are unaccounted for, but they don't know what customers may have been at the scrapyard.

This is the first serious crash here in over 70 years. Someone got a video of the plane with what appears to be an engine on fire as it was taking off. (Just adding this before someone starts blaming it on Trump for not paying the air traffic controllers.)

I've been thinking about Big Balls, the kid who moved to DC to serve with DOGE, and then found himself tangled up with the feral underpopulace nurtured by the Democrat governance of that city. One might be tempted to think of him as an "alpha male", highly-skilled and destined to extreme success in a male dominance hierarchy. And I think that is an aspect of the young man -- really, the precocious boy -- but it ignores something critical.
When he realized the subhumans were attacking, he stuffed his date into the car, slammed the door, and turned to confront them. And was beaten bloody. He is fortunate that they weren't armed, or he could easily have been killed.
But he didn't know they were unarmed. Still, faced with a possibly mortal threat, with seconds to respond, he acted to protect the female, and confront the attack. She was not his wife, she was just his date. A man concerned solely with his place in male dominance hierarchies would have tossed her to the wolflings. But a man's gotta do ...
what a man's gotta do. And that is not the same thing, as what an alpha male's gotta do. Not by a long shot.

"Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong’s approach to cancer treatment . . .
works best so far in bladder cancer." Bladder cancer is one in which massive improvements in treatment are only now just showing up in the 5-year-survival rates. My mother had stage 3 bladder. She had decided that she did not want to live with the results of a cystectomy, but she agreed to at least take the adjuvant drugs she would need before surgery. They killed every cancer cell with only minimal side effects--bad anemia, but she kept her hair, no vomiting, etc.--and she has been in remission for 7+ years (fingers still crossed).
If, God forbid, you get a cancer diagnosis, remember that the 5-year survival rate is based on treatments 5 years ago. Oncology is one of the few areas of medicine that has continued to improve since 2012, not from any single "miracle" drug (except that some of the chimeric T-cell therapies work like miracle drugs if you happen to have exactly the 'right' type of cancer) but because of a lot of incremental improvements.

Trump's Republican Party is getting smoked tonight by 51 different flavors of Democrats.

I am no fan of Trump, but for the sake of the country, I hope he gets the clear unambiguous message that he needs to work with the Democrats in Congress, end the government shutdown and start funding programs that the American people want. He needs to get a new set of political advisors and should clean out his cabinet staff. Otherwise 2026 is going to be even worse for the Republicans.

This is kind of the devil's bargain with Trump. There are a core set of voters who are only loyal to Trump, not the Republican Party. If he isn't on the ballot, they don't show up. However, the fact that he is in the White House motivates Democratic voters like no one else. Same thing happened in 2017 and 2018. 2026 is shaping up to be an even bigger wave election for the Democrats. GOP may even lose the Senate.

True. But cheney's fame was due less to his brilliance and love of the American people than Bush 43s weakness and the Bush Families love of their beloved servant.

Cheney was made VP by Bush 43 in 2000. But why? Cheney had last been elected to office in 1989. He'd was an adequte DoD Secretary but had left public life for business in 1993.

In terms of winning votes, Cheney added nothing to the ticket. But Bush 43 had some weird love and respect for him and not only made him VP - he almost made him co-president.

Its as if Trump in 2016 had made Robert Gates his VP, and ran every decision by him in his first Term.

We remember Cheney because Bush 43 was such a weak President. Almost unheard of in USA history.

But then it would have been a very close race. Perhaps by the end of the evening Sliwa and Cuomo will have more votes than Mamdani. But that wouldn't change the fact that Mamdani has won a convincing victory. He can run a campaign; can he run a large complex city? The best we can hope for is that the Dems will do a Biden. Mamdani will walk about pretending to govern (sharp as tack) and unknown semi-competent people will work it all from the background. What's more likely is a rush to the public trough which turns the Democratic Socialists into capitalist pigs. They do nothing but party and NYC has a very bad time.

But then Bush 43 wasnt big on loyalty. He threw Gonzales to the wolves. Fired his first 2 Treasury Secretaries, and got rid of Colin Powell and Ashcroft after 4 years.

I sorta of defended bush to my friends in 2001-2009, but looking back he was small, odd man, an egoistical mediocrity, who got elected by because he was a good liar, the son of a POTUS, and people disliking Al Gore. And got re-elected because Kerry was such a freak.

"Well, it looks like Mamdani has won." "He can run a campaign; can he run a large complex city?"

A majority of the city revenue comes from property taxes and sales taxes. Yes, a reduction in people paying NYC income tax might have an impact on the budget, but it won't be the primary source.

The Governor and State Legislature have a major veto over what can happen in the City. The Federal government does as well. The actions of State and Federal authority will likely factor into the 2026 elections. If voters give the Mayor a mandate, and state and federal work to block programs that people voted for, these obstruction points become the basis for organizing campaigns in 2026 and beyond.

One of the great things about the Mamdani campaign is that it has provided hundreds of thousands of voters with an education on how politics works in the city and the state. The Mamdani program is pretty modest, but the major resistance from the super-rich -- even going so far as to pay way more to beat Mamdani than they would pay in new taxes -- is part of the political education process.

Mamdani's opponents and their actions to block him have backfired to such a degree that these opponents have become even better advocates for Mamdani's economic agenda than Mamdani himself ever could have done on his own. They are making his argument much easier for people to see.

Well. I certainly don't disagree. But I am hard-pressed to see, how we distinguish the normal processes of political influence in a functioning republic from corruption. I suppose, that we might expect political aspirants to be independently wealthy, on a vast scale, and to finance their own campaigns out of their own pockets. Indeed, that seems to be part of Trump's appeal, to those of us who find him appealing -- he is not in it for the money.
But the SCOTUS has ruled that political donations are speech, and I can't really see how that could be false. So, what are you charging the Dems with? Theft? Grift? They are certainly guilty, and especially guilty. But, indeed, when I talk with Democrats, they seem to feel that
1 - the economic system is heavily biased against their base, and therefore
2 - what they steal is nothing to what is stolen from them.
I strongly disagree with 2, but 1 is obviously true.

The fact that the Virginia electorate has no problem with a man who fantasizes about murdering toddlers for the benefit of his political party should underline just how dangerous, untrustworthy, and despicable our hired help inside the Beltway really is.

I asserted that all this nonsense about "Free Enterprise" and "OMG, the poor property owners of NYC" is bullshit. Or rather its BS to anyone who's not a rich property owner.

I'm in the position of spelling out the meaning of sarcasm. So, I'll just say it straight. I"m not rich and I'm not poor. I'm in the mid 80 percent of americans. I don't care if Rich people in NYC can't raise their rents on their apartment buildings by 10 percent a year. Why should anyone care?

Anyone who buys property should get a reaonable rate of return. And no more. People need to live in NYC to work or carry on their lives. Why should they have to be ripped off because some landlord wants to make 2.1 million in profit instead of 1.7 million? Landlords in NYC don't do shit for "The economy". They own buildings and extract rent. They invent nothing. They produce nothing. You could force them to sell their buildings to the city - and nothing would change. Its not "The free market".

Because, back in the days when I went out at night, I operated under exactly the same set of rules. But how are these rules promulgated? I know why he did what he did. He knows also. But we have never communicated. How do we come to see the world in exactly the same way?

Jim, Trump not being on the ballot is a problem/issue for republicans in 2026.

Kakistocracy said...

When was the last time that the Democrats controlled nearly 60 assembly seats in Virginia General Assembly?

As far as off-year elections go too, this was a high turnout election. Message is unambiguous too.

Republicans also control Virginia right now. That means they control the state election board and have majorities on county election boards. So the idea that the Democrats are "cheating" is an even more absurd claim. Do you live in a bunker with Trump?

So, Althouse. Ms. Althouse. Madame Althouse. Might this be the first usage, in all of the long history of the English language, of the term, "underpopulace"?

That remains to be seen as it's 12 months from now.

Twelve days is a long time in politics. Twelve weeks is an eternity. Those who make predictions for results 12 months from now are not serious people.

Hell, you guys may end up actually killing him between now and then.

Looking forward to honest, innovative, effective government initiatives in NJ. VA, and NYC. Governing well is the best revenge.
Here in CA, my vote has been cast into the wind.

Perhaps the feedback loop will improve things.

It’s amazing how DJT has managed to define both parties. It should also be noted that NJ has lost 800k Republican voters due to emigration since 2020.

So I checked a few other right-leaning sites and of course, they're all running around with their hair on fire.

Democrats won where Democrats were supposed to win.

The only 'surprise' - in my opinion - is the Virginia AG's race. But that result is more reflective of left than anything about the right.

You elected a guy who openly wants to murder his political opponents and their children.

Yay! Go Team D.

What nobody has explained, so far as I can tell, is how a minor, newly-minted state assemblyman politician managed to steamroll a primary to become the Mayoral candidate, and then win the popular vote to get the office. Like the bevy of radical District Attorneys across the country a few years ago (the ones who don't prosecute crimes), this stinks of Soros and the Open Society astroturfing machine. I'll be interested to read the post-mortems.

But how does a 34 year-old with no political history, manage the reins of NYC? He has no network, no contacts, no experience. I'd be surprised if he's not fresh meat, ready to be consumed by the political machinery. He'll get a corner office with a nice view, but I doubt he's going to be allowed to implement radical change. For Trump, he'll be a gift.

Jim at said...

Personally, I'm glad Mamdini won. At some point, the boil needs to be lanced. Let it burn.

And you're correct. It will be a gift to Trump if for no other reason than the extreme left is really starting to feel their oats and will drag the entire party further to the extremes.

This shutdown was more about the internal civil war going on in the Democratic party than anything else.

Schumer and the Ds voted for the exact, same CR in March, and he got crucified for it. This time? He fed the beast in the hopes he won't be eaten.

Eh. That dog won't hunt. I openly want to murder Democrats. They are a threat to my children. You go out in the yard, and there's a rattlesnake. What, you try to reason with it? No, you whack off it's head with a shovel. Which, by the way, you keep sharpened with a grindstone, for just such occasions.
I hate the bastards, and I want them dead. I am not at all surprised that they feel the same way about me. This is way past "Can't we all just get along?". No. We can't. They want to destroy my family. I want their lifeblood.

It is a serious mistake to wish for the opposing party to become more extreme because then they'll lose by a bigger margin to your party.
Ask President Hilary Clinton about THAT strategy.
So no, it is NOT good that unapologetic Communists are becoming the faces of one of our major political parties, because that simply increases the chances of Communists gaining enough power to do what Communists ALWAYS do: murder people, steal their stuff, and lie.
Yes, if Mandami does what he said he will do, NYC will become a bigger disaster than it was under de Blasio. But the media will report that the streets are paved with gold and not show the violence, filth, and decay, and the stupid billionaires will pay the protection money that will then be leveraged into political power elsewhere for the globalist crap-elites.
Be careful what you wish for...

I think Trump needs to keep telling people from his gilded palace that grocery prices are way down, housing and electricity prices are down, and everything is great because of his genius. They seem to like that.

I mean who cares if the Ds sweep NYC, NJ, or VA? these places are Liberal/left stongholds. Except for $$$, almost everyone there is Liberal/leftist. All these places are full of our sainted "immigrants" and massive numbers of African Americans who all vote D, no matter what.

Demographics is destiny. The "minorities" wont vote Republican unless their pocketbooks hurt or the D's in power go crazy. And the second the R's restore 'Sanity" the voters will go back to their homeboys.

40 percent of NYC is immigrant. Another 30 percent is hispanic/black/etc. Only 15 percent is native born and white.
25 percent of New Yorkers cant speak English.

Mandingo is a perfect fit.

Former VP Aaron Burr was charged with treason because of the alleged conspiracy for assembling an armed force to take New Orleans and separate the Western from the Atlantic states. He stood trial in Richmond, Virginia, but he was acquitted, and then he fled to Europe.

Burr's trial brought into question the ideas of executive privilege, state secrets privilege, and the independence of the executive. Burr's lawyers, including John Wickham, asked Chief Justice John Marshall to subpoena Jefferson, claiming that they needed documents from Jefferson to present their case accurately. Jefferson proclaimed that, as president, he was "Reserving the necessary right of the President of the U S to decide, independently of all other authority, what papers, coming to him as President, the public interests permit to be communicated, and to whom." He insisted that all relevant papers had been made available, and that he was not subject to this writ because he held executive privilege. He also argued that he should not be subject to the commands of the judiciary, because the Constitution guaranteed the executive branch's independence from the judicial branch. Marshall decided that the subpoena could be issued despite Jefferson's position as president. Though Marshall vowed to consider Jefferson's office and avoid "vexatious and unnecessary subpoenas", his ruling was significant because it suggested that, like all citizens, the president was subject to the law.~Wiki

Eh. That dog won't hunt. I openly want to murder Democrats.

You also believe 9/11 was an inside job and/or controlled demolition.

Now, if you were running to be a state's attorney general?

With the full backing of the Republican party...where not a single candidate withdrew his or her support?

You'd have a point.

Maybe you could point to where I said they'll lose by a bigger margin to 'my' party.

The only way the Democrats return to common sense is when they've had enough of their extremists.

So, I guess the strategy of importing more people who hate America and want to sack and loot it just like the Democrats do actually works to elect more Democrats. Once in, they're going to find ways to keep doing it and keep spreading it around the country.

I don't see any way this is going to be stopped with these quaint little things called elections if they just keep importing more of their voters and moving them around to the next place they want to take over. Trump was our last chance to stop this. Somewhere down the road it's going to be hand to hand combat in the streets

Kakistocracy said...

Traditional American politics is premised on the notion that sometimes you lose and sometimes you win and you have to deal with that.

But Trumpism is premised on the notion that any result where you don’t win is illegitimate, unlawful, fraud and criminal.

You can’t negotiate with people like that.
