He's right, isn't he? It's the Senate that needs to move, and the House has nothing to do but wait. If you don't have anything better than nothing to do, do nothing.

Agreed. Is releasing the Epstein files better than nothing?
The vote in the House which is controlled by Speaker Johnson can be forced with one (1) additional Democratic vote. For unexplained reasons the speaker has refused to swear in and seat a new Democratic member, although he had done so for Republican replacement members.
The shutdown as stupid as it is lies in the Senate, but the House has duties too and note the House is NOT shut down like the rest of government.
Yes, ‘tis a high standard
He doesn't want to swear in Arizona's new rep, given that would be enough votes to move to release Epstein files.
Given how Virginia Guifre's book is hitting in the UK, best to avoid that here. Tearing down the East Wing has been a good distraction but that story has almost exhausted itself.
The GOP is supposed to believe in a diminished role for government, including the Congress. CC, JSM
Must be sweet, keeping the House closed yet still drawing a paycheck. meanwhile TSA needs to keep working despite no paycheck.
Winning optics there.
Johnson is hoping, of course, that Democrat politicians will go home to their districts and get an earful from their constituents. Smart move.
Don’t both parties realize Americans hate these government shutdowns? It makes both parties look incompetent. And then one side blames the other. We blame both sides.
It's too bad the right doesn't astroturf hostile crowds at Dem town halls. Understandable, I suppose, because they'd literally get their asses kicked, or get arrested like the Loudon County raped girl's dad. Or do the Dems even do town halls? Hard to make an opposition photo-op out of something that didn't happen. CC, JSM
What’s amazing is billions for illegals is the hill the left wants to die on. Then again, their assessment of the situation seems to be their party dies without the billions for illegals. I hope they are right…
He should be passing bills that make the Senate Democrats teeth gnash to vote against, like launching torpedos.
So, look at Mark, he is making the Democrat's argument: "Give in to our demands or we shoot this dog."
He's using his bully pulpit. How big is the Speaker's pulpit? Not so big. When Nacy was around the Times made her pulpit seem bigger?
Democrats know that benefits are what draw the millions of illegals, and if you cut them off, the flow will stop. This is an existential fight for the faction of the Democratic Party that has control of it right now. Not for the party itself, of course, but for those control its levers of power right now.
The House did its job.
Yes he's correct since the House has passed the clean CR the Senate is stalled on. Anyone can go online and read both the CR and the Senate demand authored by Schumer. Thine has introduced bills to pay government workers, which the excerpt mentions in a weird way in relation to Johnson, but Senate Democrats promptly rejected the pay proposal along with every option Thune has mentioned.
The longer it goes on the less it is about a couple hundred million in Obamacare subsidies. Obviously. What is actually in Schumer's $1.4 Trillion demand? The party that keeps stressing about their messaging program is doing itself no favors in explaining their current "strategy."
Thank you Autocorrect for letting me spell Majority Leader Thune's name correctly at least once above.
Whatever Speaker Johnson does, or doesn't do, the NYT is going to shit all over him.
Mark seems obsessed with the Epstein files, if there are actually any files. That must be the latest DNC hoax that he will later deny.
The childishness of the Democrats continues to be fully on display.
A case of the NYT headline not matching the reportage?
NYT headline says...
Keeping the House Absent, Johnson Marginalizes Congress and Himself/The speaker’s decision to hold the House in an indefinite hiatus during the shutdown is his latest move to diminish the role of the legislative branch — and his own post.
NYT article says...
His strategy of indefinite hiatus means that Mr. Johnson has not engaged in the typical political theater that speakers often employ during shutdown fights to jam the party out of power: scheduling tricky votes on bills to reopen parks or pay certain categories of federal workers.... Democrats had been bracing for him to do so.
Johnson hasn't emphasized enough his overriding leadership objective is a return to regular order in appropriations, which explains his avoidance of such antics.
If this is "diminishment," please give us more.
Democrats blocked pay for air traffic control on Thursday, Mark. Try to keep up with the perfidious news the people you simp for are making. Nice to know you and your side want free Obamacare for illegals more than safe flights for your fellow Americans.
It's clarifying.
I love it.
It's kind of funny. In the personal finance/retirement world it's a standard claim that Social Security will endure because old people vote like crazy and Congress's doing nothing is inconceivable. Yep, kind of funny.
I don’t follow why as a matter of logic he’s right. They passed a bill that won’t get through the senate. But they won’t even consider a bill that would get through the senate. Doesn’t seem like the best approach to get public support. Looks to me like they aren’t even trying. Saying you won’t even negotiate until you get what you want seems illogical to me.
Make "Do nothing Congress" Great Again.
Well Maynard Comer Report was published last week completely exonerating Trump in Epstein related crimes but clearly demonstrating an extremely close and longstanding relationship between Clinton and Epstein. All of corporate Media ignored it because personalities and staff of every news organization also had close ties to Epstein. As did all the Davos and Aspen people. You know, the kind of people Donald doesn't enjoy hanging around with and who generally shunned him anyway.
The surprising thing in the Epstein case is that Epstein had interest in Trump, hated him for expulsion from MAL and was suspicious Trump was working with the Feds to get him.
All of those are quite inconvenient facts for the low information voters like Mark, a person of known low character who outright slandered me on this blog and has never apologized.
Great. Now Mr. Numbers has a mythological bill that would allegedly get 60 Senate votes. LOL

The Democrats oppose the return to regular order that Johnson seeks, hence their insistence on an unclean continuing resolution to bypass that process.
AI Overview
"Regular order" in appropriations is the traditional, step-by-step process for Congress to pass funding bills, involving individual appropriations bills for each government agency. This process includes committee hearings, markups where amendments are offered, and separate votes in both the House and Senate, followed by a conference committee to reconcile differences. It provides a transparent and deliberative way to fund the government, but has largely been replaced by the use of large, last-minute "omnibus" bills or short-term "continuing resolutions" (CRs) to avoid shutdowns.
How is Epstein like the ballroom?
Someone and something had to be demolished to make room for the new.
The Senators are called via a loud speaker to record their vote. When the Dems vote No, to reopen the government, that visual is so much more compelling than the House impersonal vote tally screen on CSPAN.
Trump's is not your fathers GOP.
"But they won’t even consider a bill that would get through the senate..."
You mean the funding of benefits that draw extralegal migrants from all over the world, which even if they don't vote, they beef up Democrat Party representation in Congress, because their numbers are used to apportion Congressional Seats?
Yes, if you strip away all of the facts, it all seems so obvious.
They passed a bill that won’t get through the senate.
And why is it that the clean CR, which does nothing new but only keeps the government funded at existing levels for a while so that negotiations on a real budget can continue in the subcommittees and committees, won't get through the Senate? It's not Republicans in the Senate holding it up...
But they won’t even consider a bill that would get through the senate.
What bill would that be? Clearly not one of the ones introduced that would have started paying government employees - Democrats keep voting those down. So - what, National Kumbayah Day Observance?
Wince:
“The Democrats oppose the return to regular order that Johnson seeks, hence their insistence on an unclean continuing resolution to bypass that process.“
Exactly. Example 58290: Schumer wanting to make a back room deal re spending in the current CR. He doesn’t want open debate in the chambers and transparency. He wants things the way they were with Pelosi, McCarthy, and McConnell.
I don’t know what a bill would look like. Maybe a one year continuation of the tax subsidies. I do know they aren’t even trying. Also if the CR is passed they still need to figure out the budget.
As for regular order, wouldn’t that mean following the law and passing a budget by last summer? There is a law with clear deadlines. But the house never even brought a budget bill to the floor. Hence the need for another CR. How many Cars must the Dems agree too?
And the Senate always has the option to remove the filibuster if it wants. Only need a majority.
It's the NYT. It's always the Republicans and/or Trump's fault. Doesn't matter what "it" is.
cr. Not cars
Isn’t it obvious that the Dems are trying to create a crisis?
Is the current Congress even legitimate? Were all the members legitimately elected? Looks like the answer is no. Best to keep them inactive for now, until we can sort this thing out.
“Johnson is hoping, of course, that Democrat politicians will go home to their districts and get an earful from their constituents. Smart move.”
Oh they’re getting an earful alright…
“According to the latest survey of more than 1,300 registered voters by the respected Quinnipiac poll, it's a close call overall, with 45% blaming the Republicans and 39% pointing to the Democrats.
If you look past the partisan voters and narrow in on declared independents, the gap mushrooms with 48% holding the GOP accountable compared with 32% blaming Democrats.
The poll's gender gap is bad news for the Republicans, with women blaming them by a 15-point margin while men are 5% more likely to blame the Democrats.
"Terrible poll for Republicans"
"It's a terrible poll for Republicans," said Tim Malloy, a Quinnipiac poll analyst. "You do wonder what's going on in the back rooms - if there are back rooms - about how to right this ship. So to some extent Trump and the party are on their heels."
https://www.cbsnews.com/boston/news/government-shutdown-blame-poll/
"It's the NYT. It's always the Republicans and/or Trump's fault."
It's all the news they see fit to print.
NYT hopes that NYT concern trolling will cause Johnson to reconsider his position which has been good for Republicans. Doubtful it will happen.
’So to some extent Trump and the party are on their heels.’
Oh, no!! Anyway…

You can post whatever stupid thing you want to pretend Democrats are not causing this shutdown.
Everyone knows it is the Democrats causing this shutdown and everyone knows why Democrats are causing the shutdown.
Democrats have been living off federal money going to sanctuary blue cities based on census numbers that count illegal immigrants.
You are just terrible dishonest people.

The tell that it's the right strategy is NYT is vociferously against it.
After all what says “working man” better than golden wall decorations, toilets, ballrooms, while the working poor have their measly WIC and FoodShare benefits taken away.
I just sent Speaker Johnson a link to that poll and told him to give the Dems everything they want. Should be cleared up soon…
What says “working man” better than taking away the Obama-care subsidies and making millions of American’s health insurance premiums double?
The senate has voted 10 times to reopen the govt its not thunes fault that schumers being a jackass
Ironically, political climate change is a first-order forcing of climate change and zero carbon footprint with refundable revenue.
The subsidies that were sunsetted by design
Pin the tale (sic) on the Democratic ass. #HateLovesAbortion
What else do Democrats have? They're perpetual juveniles. Forever obsessing about their peepees, and constantly bitchy and destructive if they don't get their way.
’The subsidies that were sunsetted by design’
I thought the Affordable Care Act made health care affordable. I mean, it’s right there in the title of the bill. Why does it need subsidies? Something must be wrong… lol
"...the respected Quinnipiac poll...narrow in on declared independents..."It's a terrible poll for Republicans"...Trump and the party are on their heels..." CBS News Boston.
Hahahaha. Keep telling yourself what you want to believe.
I don’t know what a bill would look like. Maybe a one year continuation of the tax subsidies.
The TEMPORARY subsidies that were introduced in response to the COVID pandemic, that were touted by Democrats as being TEMPORARY and a CRISIS RESPONSE?
The ratchet only goes one way, apparently. The only way Democrats will vote to reopen the government is if Republicans agree to do exactly what Democrats want. Or, as some have already said, they'll shoot this dog.
I know right,
Our resident dullard, having nothing to cut and paste, might want to sit this one out.
How long did Republicans have to improve the ACA? How long was Trump’s “concepts of a plan” sitting on a shelf somewhere in his bathroom?
Obamacares is the primary driver of the nearly 40 trillion dollar debt, unaffordable medical care, and progressive prices through shared/shifted responsibility. Democrats pushed Americans off the cliff, women to the back of the bus, girls under the bus for illegal aliens and simulants, respectively.
Throw another fetus... baby on the barbie, it's over.
What says "Party of the American Worker" better than passing a bill (in order to see what's in it) that's called the "Affordable" Care Act, but needs emergency, temporary subsidies to be reupped ad infinitum in order to be, you know, affordable?
The goal was to eliminate private insurance now consolidation has created a greater monopoly
’ How long did Republicans have to improve the ACA?’
Preserved for posterity. lol
The Green Deal subsidized an environmental blight and hazard over land, sea, and air with range limited, intermittent energy converters.
Most Americans don't even notice the shutdown. And even the Democratic federal workers in Virginia are going to start pressuring Warner and Kaine to cave, once a couple of paychecks are missed.
Democratic messaging has been terrible. Klobuchar had a horrible tweet the other day, presenting a hypothetical former federal-worker couple who were using Obamacare because they had retired early in their 50s on federal pensions, and arguing that without thousands of dollars of continued subsidies, this couple might have to reduce expenses, including less travel. How in the world is the plight of early-retired federal pensioners who want to travel supposed to capture mass sympathy?
I actually have a dog in this fight now - our health insurance through my husband's former job will run out at the end of January, and we'll be at the mercy of Obamacare until we reach Medicare age. We would have loved for Obamacare to do what it said it would do - especially now. But even so, I'd rather see it fixed (whatever that would look like - I have the sneaking suspicion that someone may have to go back in time to the post-WWII period to decouple health insurance from employment, so I'm not sanguine) than perpetually held together with scotch tape and spit.
Hostess with a strong concluding paragraph. Bravo.

Rump Parliament, anyone? "You have sat too long for any good you have been doing lately... Depart, I say; and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!"
“In Florida, Obamacare Price Hikes Pose an Outsized Threat
South Florida will feel some of the most intense reverberations if Congress allows the extra insurance subsidies it approved during the pandemic to expire.”
Some Americans haven’t felt the pain yet, but it’s coming. Grocery prices are not down, the price of goods are not down. Healthcare costs will be unaffordable to millions, but there will be a new beautiful ballroom and an Arch de Trumpf!
Unaffordable medical care is driven by Obamacares, illegal aliens, and unhealthy Choices... uh, choices.
Schakowky and creamer
Perhaps worm man(D) can have Johnson arrested and spit upon him?
Republicans have not fixed the problem made worse by Democrats. Neither can legitimately hold a pride parade to celebrate mitigating progressive schemes.
’We would have loved for Obamacare to do what it said it would do…’
Not being snarky, but it’s doing precisely what it was supposed to do: destroy private health insurance so single payer could be implemented.
Dullard / Inag -
Obama-Care subsidies were opened up to more well-to-do takers during COVID.
Covid is over.
why not move to change Constitution to elect Senators-in-Reserve when Primary Functionary balk?
Are you saying, Inga, that Trump and the other donors to the long-overdue renovation of the East Wing should instead personally fund "Affordable" Care Act temporary, emergency (permanent, universally necessary) subsidies? That's a take.
Obamacare is a financial disaster for our nation. Why O-care was shoved down our throats on party line vote.
The whole point of O-care was to ultimately destroy our health care delivery system - so that Single Payer (100% tax payer funded/ 100% fascist Government controlled) (yeah that's the definition of fascism) was on deck long after Obama was gone.
Carville needs to stay under his bridge
The Obamacares cliff offers an incentive for unproductive (pun intended) America. A "burden" relief, too.
The majority of Senators support ending the federal government shutdown. It is the minority demanding things the people voted against that are preventing progress.
LOL - Inag says "How long did Republicans have to improve the ACA?"
Dems build and shove-down a crap sandwich - it's up to the R's to save it!
O-care cannot be saved. It must be repealed entirely.
It must go away. 100% gone.
That's how you save the ACA. Dems and their media liars will never allow that to happen. So many fake tears... and lies will be used to drag the ACA-money-wasting carcass down the road.
It did nothing to expand the supply of doctors except lower standards
Not being snarky, but it’s doing precisely what it was supposed to do: destroy private health insurance so single payer could be implemented.
Point taken.
My husband says the same thing about Harris's "failure" as Border Czar: "She was awesome at doing exactly what she was supposed to do."
“Are you saying, Inga, that Trump and the other donors to the long-overdue renovation of the East Wing should instead personally fund "Affordable" Care Act temporary, emergency (permanent, universally necessary) subsidies? That's a take.”
No.
I’m pointing out the screwed up priorities of Trump and Republicans. Republicans had years and years now to improve the ACA or come up with their own plan, which didn’t happen, only a “concept of a plan” from Trump. Trump was too busy planning a golden ballroom and an Arch de Trumpf.
1) Dems demand more tax payer funded subsidies for O-CARE, that they tied to COVID.
2) Dems demand tax payer funded health care for illegals. Millions of Illegals.
In five days we are going to realize what "government shutdown" for more than a month means in this day and age. It means hunger all over the country. After one month the food stamp aka SNAP money runs out. This about to happen. The terrible thing is that there is no warning going out to the people who rely on SNAP and no concern in DC about what happens next.
Here's what's going to happen in 5 days. Food Share in Wisconsin (aka Food stamps, SNAP) will not load the into the cards. 12% of the people on Wisconsin will have a great deal less money available for food- and they don't know this is coming.
I read late yesterday that Evers had gotten funding for WIC and Food Share but now I can't find that story. All I can find now is one story which says Evers got funding for WIC . Meanwhile, there's ten or fifteen stories in which in low. calm and cultured tones Evers announces that there will be no Food Share money starting November first and that he has written to the USDA complaining. This is so evil. What can the USDA do if there's a shutdown. Evers should be finding funding for November's Food Share in some other part of the budget. Baldwin should be screeching about the problem throughout every hallway in Congress. Why are the supporters of the welfare state so silent, so inert, as this catastrophe caused by creating a dependency and then revoking the assistance due to DC political calculations looms up like the iceberg headed for the Titanic. Do they want food riots?
And the Republicans better get the House back in session and start talking about this issue there. We need a deal. We really do.
The Dems would rather people starve and die rather than givs up their power as long as the govt is shut down more things will cascade out of control because they are that evil
Inga - Again.
Dems built the ACA and PASSED it on PARTY LINE vote. It cannot be fixed. It cannot be saved.
It is NOT the job of the R's to fix Democratics bad ideas.
Republicans did drop the ball when they had opportunities to repeal Obamacare. John McCain is a prime example.
(Screw him)
Anyone who understands basic economics knows that our health care system needs more Freedom,& more transparency. The left's plans are all the opposite. The left demand our health care delivery and payment system work like a crony -communism. Secret, dark, complicated, and set up for max crony pocket stuffing by greedy commies.
We note Inag - you have nothing to say about the Democrat's lies revolving around their demands - SECRET lie-filled demands - to force the American tax payer to pay for illegal health care for illegals.
Wildswan,
Food banks are already hurting and it will only get worse. Republicans are in the majority from President to House to Senate, yet they sit on their hands.
“Trump tells Democrats no meeting over shutdown until government reopens”
WASHINGTON (Reuters) -President Donald Trump on Tuesday rebuffed a request by top Democratic lawmakers to meet until the three-week-old U.S. government shutdown ends.
"I would like to meet with both of them, but I said one little caveat, I will only meet if they let the country open," Trump told reporters, referencing the request by U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries to meet "anytime, anyplace."
Most Americans know who is to blame here.
I think it's a poor move. The House should remain in session and the business of government should continue. They were not sent to Washington to give up and return home on the excuse that the Senate isn't playing ball. They should force the Progressive Democrats to remain in session and be vocal about what is, and is not, being accomplished.
The Senate majority leader should be having daily press conferences, and reminding everyone why things are not progressing. And if the major networks don't think it's worthy of coverage, let the other networks cover the story.
inag - The Dems are dragging it out to election day. The Dems don't give a SHIT about the American people.
All the Dems need to do is say yes to a continuing resolution.
THE DEMS REFUSE.
Spare us your fake Maddow tears.
"Republicans are in the majority from President to House to Senate, yet they sit on their hands." How many votes does it take to pass a clean Continuing Resolution, Inga? Can you give us a link to a picture of Republicans sitting on their hands? Who keeps voting 'No'? Don't they know children are going hungry? Don't they care?
No, the Progressive Democrats don't care.
Aggie - what business in the House? What can they do?
Also, Aggie - I've seen Senate Leader Thune giving all sorts of press. Day in and day out.

“White House vows to use tariff revenue to fund food aid benefits
A critical nutrition program for low-income moms and babies is set to run out of funding during the government shutdown.
The Trump administration is planning to deploy millions of dollars in tariff revenue to tide over a critical nutrition program for low-income moms and babies during the ongoing government shutdown.
“The Trump White House will not allow impoverished mothers and their babies to go hungry because of the Democrats’ political games,” White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt posted on X on Tuesday, noting officials’ plan to use tariff revenue in the interim.
It’s not clear exactly how much money the White House intends to spend, how the process will unfold or if it is legal.
A spokesperson for USDA did not immediately respond to a request for comment.”

But Progressive Democrats keeps voting 'No' to that resolution, even though it's a common mechanism to support government function. Why is that? He's the man responsible. i looked up on Grok and the Schumer's has had only one TV interview since October 5. On October 19th he was on Meet the press. He hasn't been on PBS news hour in over 1 month.
Why aren't there MSM Reporters having interviews with Schumer and asking him why he's still shutting down the Government and what's his game plan. Instead, NPR/PBS and the Wapo/NYT keep acting like its the house that's the key problem.
I blame Republicans in the Senate. Why can they pass tax cuts in budget reconciliation bill with a simple majority while it takes 60 votes to pass individual spending bills or raise the debt ceiling and keep the Government open?
It makes zero sense.

I can’t believe the Radical Left Democrats gave me this unprecedented opportunity. They are not stupid people, so maybe this is their way of wanting to, quietly and quickly, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! President DJT”
Americans voted to rid the deep state of corruption.
Blame Schumer - who is only trying to keep up with the radicals - AOC communists.
The Democrat party in a Nutshell.
3000 Americans didn't get dirty looks - they were murdered - by Mamdamni(D) type Radical Islamic males.
It's becoming clear to me that the Democrat end goal is to try to force the elimination of the Senate filibuster.
They're playing a long game.

“Trump administration says it won't tap emergency funds to pay food aid
The move means 42 million people will miss SNAP benefits in November unless Congress.
The Trump administration won’t tap emergency funds to pay for federal food benefits, imperiling benefits starting Nov. 1 for nearly 42 million Americans who rely on the nation’s largest anti-hunger program, according to a memo obtained by POLITICO.
USDA said in the memo that it won’t tap a contingency fund or other nutrition programs to cover the cost of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, which is set to run out of federal funds at the end of the month.
The contingency fund for SNAP currently holds roughly $5 billion, which would not cover the full $9 billion the administration would need to fund November benefits. Even if the administration did partially tap those funds, it would take weeks to dole out the money on a pro rata basis — meaning most low-income Americans would miss their November food benefits anyway.
In order to make the deadline, the Trump administration would have needed to start preparing for partial payments weeks ago, which it has not done.”
So, Trump lied when he said on Oct.7th that they would use proceeds from tariffs to fund food benefits.
"the other 9/12 so far having been passed thru committee"
Ooh, bowl me over with success there. Joe Six Pack is so impressed with the work of Congressional Committees.
It's almost November and your success is that?;
Dear Politico(D)
Democrats have the power to open the gov. They refuse.
Also Politico(D) - fuck off.
“The move means 42 million people will miss SNAP benefits in November unless Congress.”
How terrible! If only a couple of senators could prevent that happening.
Democrats are happy to see people suffer - while they - the minority - attempt to hold everyone hostage and do what they and their corrupt media do all the time. Blame others.
I wonder how many will be found emaciated with expensively manicured nails clutching the newest iPhone.
If you support the Democrats and blame the Republicans for this, then the suffering is really your fault. They are not opening the government because you are a sucker they can play for political gain. Don't be a sucker, even if you think it proves you hate Trump. That's very suckerish.
"It's becoming clear to me that the Democrat end goal is to try to force the elimination of the Senate filibuster.

Possible but I don't think that is it- they believe, correctly in my opinion, that the Senate GOP will cave to their demands.
Well, Dingabat, get your ass on the phone and tell Chuck Schumer to open up the government so that those women and children don't starve.
kak - I am a revenue center. When I work, my employer makes money. Not so for gov workers, cost centers, on your team.
Democrat ninnyhammers standing up for their constituents. Illegal aliens, terrorists, leeches, 3rd world detritus, and the like. It's a tell.

Why do you always feel the need to be offensive."
Because you're either lying or stupid. Either way you don't belong here.
You want to earn some respect? Tell us why Schumer is blocking the super majority that the senate needs to pass the bill.
“Democrat ninnyhammers standing up for their constituents. Illegal aliens, terrorists, leeches, 3rd world detritus, and the like. It's a tell.”
What does it tell you about the commenter Wildswan @9:03 AM above, who is a conservative? She’s been concerned for several days now about WIC and Food Share stopping on Nov.1st. She has had caregivers in her home that have been helping her recover from a serious illness who have small children and depend on WIC and Food Share. They are eligible because their wages are so low.
Wildswan is addressing the Democrats for the most part, Dingabat. All it takes for SNAP to continue uninterrupted is for the Democrats in the Senate to stop filibustering the CR. What say you, Dingabat- you gonna tell Chuck Schumer to open up the government?
Or are you to continue to pretend it is the GOP keeping the government shut?
Really, the Democrats don't even need to vote for the CR- they can stay home and not vote at all and then SNAP gets funded.
“Either way you don't belong here.”
Who the hell do you think you are telling Jim he doesn’t belong here? He belongs here probably more than YOU do. I don’t recall Althouse appointing you as thread monitor.
You see, Dingabat, Jim53IQ, and Lefty Mark want to pretend that it isn't the Democrats keeping the government closed.
Yancey Boy, Wildswan is addressing both sides. She’s been posting about this for days and today was the first time she mentioned Democrats. Now go suckle your mama’s old titty some more.
So, Dingabat, are you telling Chuck Schumer to open up the government and stop filibustering the CR?
Do you at least agree that the government is shut down exactly because of the Democrat filibuster? Can we get at least one honest answer out of you, Dingabat?
"Trump wanted this shut down."
Gee, it's too bad the democrats are powerless to stop it.
Oh how cute. Rusty thinks he runs the place.
"Either way you don't belong here"
wildswan's a she? Well, that explains "his" fixation with "the babies". Not That There Would Have Been Anything Wrong With That.
there have been 10 votes to reopen the govt, schumer is too afraid of aoc, to actually stand up for those affected, from air traffic controllers to wic recipients,

Thank you. I'm adorable.
I do not think I run the place. I have little patience with liars and idiots. There are other boards for that.
Tesla? I'm glad you asked. It's doing great. If you hadn't made a big deal of what a moron Musk was and how Tesla would fail I never would have invested. Are there any more innovators you're mad at?
“I do not think I run the place. I have little patience with liars and idiots.’
Excuses, excuses, the truth is you’re just an asshole.
If Trump really wants to troll, he ought to put up a website showing a 'Savings' clock due to the government shutdown. I notice the US debt clock has gotten very complicated
...but I also draw your attention to the US Federal Budget Deficit section (upper LH quadrant) and other line items that are counting backwards, now that the government is shut down, or also as a product of the economy improving.
It's a shame Twitter/X went under.
What? Twitter/X is thriving? But, but…
these mirages they entertain are too baroque for me,
What, on Earth? COULD he do, without 60 Senate votes?
why waste time and money? It's not like he's a democrat
Saying you won’t even negotiate until you get what you want seems illogical to me.
There is nothing to negotiate. Pass the clean CR.
If you want to undo specific parts of the BBBill - such as providing health care benefits to illegals - do it through another mechanism.
Dingabat wrote: "Trump wanted this shut down."
Original Mike wrote: "Gee, it's too bad the democrats are powerless to stop it."
Original Mike highlights just how stupid Inga is- she really doesn't understand why what she wrote is so idiotic.
The Dems, Igna, Mark, DeeDee and the rest of the lefty mental mendicants are shitting their Underoos about their bad strategies of 2025.
"12% of the people on Wisconsin will have a great deal less money available for food- and they don't know this is coming."
All those people who depend on Other People's Money to survive don't know this is coming? Why not?
The most recent year an annual budget was passed on time, by regular order, was...
1996. Almost THIRTY YEARS AGO.
So, who's at fault for that history?
His Republican majority could meet in a legal quorum - without any need for Dems - to vote on "passing" piles and piles of legislation that could then be voted upon again if necesary, without further debate, and sent to the Senate after the restart of Congress. That Dems refuse to be present would not stop the House forming a quorum and should not stop even House committees from operation.
Oregon tells me that SNAP benefits won't happen in December etc. If the legislatures determine not to provide them, that's one thing; I'll be X dollars poorer each month but I won't starve. If they don't happen because the politicians are 'doing partisan politics' instead of doing the jobs they were elected to do, that's another.
None of the idiots proposing a solution other than the “clean CR” can tell you how long the government budget has run on anything other than CRs or Omnibus resolutions. These two formerly unusual and rare budgetary measures are ALL the Congress has jointly passed since Clinton was in office. Until democrats can explain why this shutdown is more important than a functioning Federal government they will continue to lose support. The “fighting” here is pretty pitiful from the left side of the aisle.
Inga
"What does it tell you about the commenter Wildswan @9:03 AM above, who is a conservative........." It tells me that democrats don't care at all about that the people in real need.
As opposed to the airwasting leeches who spend years, generations sitting on their asses doing nothing, ever.
If democrats didn't support the leeches and the illegal aliens there wouldn't be a need for $1.5 trillion to provide for the needy. The democrats don't give a damn about the needy. Except as a cudgel to bludgeon the opposition into pissing away money we don't have. Why don't you care about that ?
Because you're a communist fraud.
