"A couple of weeks ago, I was watching video of people fighting on the street in Washington. A group of Trump guys surrounded an Antifa kid..."

"... and started pounding the living shit out of him. It was three against one, at least. Jumping a guy like that is dishonorable obviously. It’s not how white men fight. Yet suddenly I found myself rooting for the mob against the man, hoping they’d hit him harder, kill him. I really wanted them to hurt the kid. I could taste it. Then somewhere deep in my brain, an alarm went off: this isn’t good for me. I’m becoming something I don’t want to be. The Antifa creep is a human being. Much as I despise what he says and does, much as I’m sure I’d hate him personally if I knew him, I shouldn’t gloat over his suffering. I should be bothered by it. I should remember that somewhere somebody probably loves this kid, and would be crushed if he was killed. If I don’t care about those things, if I reduce people to their politics, how am I better than he is?"

I imagine some people would be triggered "RACIST!!" and wouldn't see that this email actually makes Carlson look kind and reflective, but it's hard to imagine a two-year-old email contributed to his firing without becoming public first. I'm going to go with "bad attempt at spin."

Do we have better evidence that is indeed a Tucker Carlson text message than say the evidence that Hunter Biden’s laptop and emails were Russian disinformation? No point opining on Tucker Carlson’s potential behavior until we have some certainty that what he is accused of doing actually happened.

Imagine if Carlson were black, and the men attacking the kid were black, and the exact same text were sent substituting "not how black men fight" for "not how white men fight. It is easy to imagine lots of white men and black men sending the same kind of text in both events, the one that occurred and the hypothetical one. However, it is also easy to see that the hypothetical one would never get the sender fired, and the criticism, even from the right in the hypothetical wouldn't be all that intense since such criticism itself would be targeted as racist by the media.

However, Carlson is right- it isn't how white men in the US are raised- to gang up in a fist fight against a single individual. It is a hard core principle we learned on the playgrounds growing up that if you have a disagreement that requires a physical fight, you do it one on one, and friends and family stay out of it. I was on both sides of this more than once growing up- fighting and enforcing the one on one rule. I imagine any white guy my age was on both sides or observed being applied. In short, Carlson wasn't offering a comment on how black men fight- he studiously, in my opinion, avoided offering a comment on how black men would fight because he doesn't have any experience as one.

Now, not all white men live up to the principle, and Carlson was criticizing himself for not doing so in his heart instinctively. Carlson's detractors think this text message will make him look bad- I disagree- I think most people will read it and think that if that was why he was fired, it was unjust.

Nice! Now compare and contrast with VP Kamala Harris' comment after the murderous tranny slaughtered five Christians very recently, not just beat them up, KILLED five innocent Christians in cold blood: "They fight back!"

She said this about the perp who murdered people, before the funerals had even been held. Hideous! Yet the media finds it so very important to note that Tucker shared his thoughts privately about how he felt seeing an Antifa monster pounded for a change instead of being the one ganging up on Trump supporters (as in most Antifa footage I've seen). When you're a Democrat you can get away with saying or doing anything!

By the way, everything that Fox Corp. is leaking about their current employee in order to prepare for the negotiated settlement has had the uncanny effect of making Carlson look more human and the corporation look petty, vindictive, retaliatory and emotional. It's almost like they are overcompensating for something. Hmmmm. Why is ALL news rooted in fakenews now?

A rare mistake by Tucker. Antifa is nearly all white, but many piling many on one is how they prefer to fight. The KKK was certainly within epsilon of 100% white, but they’d only fight fair if forced to.

I find it interesting that the focus is on that single sentence and not the broader text. While, the single sentence is inartful and perhaps insensitive, the broader comment is a look inside the mind/soul of someone who is working through in real time the implications of our current world - where everything is political. He's acknowledging his need to re-humanize the "others" we've all fallen into hating so much. In my opinion, that is the interesting thing about this text. That is what the conversation should be about.

Notably, that sentiment lines up perfectly with his recent video address where he called much of the current political discourse and fighting "stupid" and about "issues" we won't remember in the near term future. And, he lamented the lack of discussion about issues that actually matter to the long term future of the country.

It appears we are watching in real time the awaking or refocusing of Tucker Carlson's worldview or priorities. Perhaps his "redemption." But all we are focused on is a poorly stated sentence.

She is failing miserably. All she's doing is humanizing Tucker and making us like and support him even more. While some people might want to cut his replacements a break because they aren't the ones at fault, half of us have dumped Fox all together. Newsmax is dancing a jig as their ratings continue to climb. Megyn Kelly's podcasts are approaching a million followers. Antifa deserves to get some of what they dish out back. I'm not sure "fight" is the right word here. When several people gang up on one person, it's better described as an "assault" or an "attack." Sometimes the word "mob" can be added.

And there is definitely a certain stereotype that holds true about how one ethnic group behaves. Every commenter here can probably think of a dozen examples without even looking.

Similarly, the "knock out game" isn't really a fight either.

Amazingly dumb take, again.

Carlson is utterly correct. Those of us who came of age in the racial flashpoint bay area near Oakland knew that fighting as a crew of honkies and/or crackers against a single target was about as cowardly a thing as you could do. There would be immediate in-group repercussions.

However, given the number of mob vs onesies or twosies that were race-weighted in one specific direction, its clear that "rule" didn't apply across the board.

Interestingly, in the bay area the whites, latinos and asians hung together pretty tightly and there were plenty of great dudes amongst the bruthas who always did the right thing. But the general proclivities of certain groups were just that.

Even more interestingly, after my family relocated to San Diego later, it was the whites, asians and relatively fewer bruthas who all hung together pretty tightly (it helped if you played alot of sports) and there were plenty of great dudes amongst the latinos who always did the right thing. But the general proclivities of certain groups were just that.

It just goes to show how alike people really are and its just a matter of which demographic group is dominant in numbers and what the local social structure allows in terms of violence between groups that determines expected scenarios and outcomes.

Carlson also grew up in CA around that time (in a very nice area of San Diego) so he is precisely correct that white dudes, especially in that era and location, were most certainly taught to never fight in a mob action.

But prole is always gonna prole....and more and more he's prole-ing about in the LLR neighborhood....unexpectedly....(wink wink)

3) That its terrible for Tucker to express sympathy for the Antifa goon even thought antifa had threatened his family and himself? OR that human feeling and decency has priority over politics?

What's even more crazy is that Fox News is leaking/smearing Tucker in the NYT's. No one in his audience likes the NYT's. The kind of people uspet at this 2 year old email, are the same people who cheered Tucker getting fired. And never would watch him, except as a Hate-watch.

Megyn Kelly crapped all over this "reveal" today, saying there is only one place it could have come from--FNC Corporate Media Communications. Motive--to drive down Tucker's market value while he can't respond and to irritate him into making a mistake. Meanwhile, FNC's primetime viewership craters. Could the Murdochs have misread this one?

If the FNC settlement plan was to get the Dominion claims behind them, I'd say that worked, but their scorched-earth tactics with Tucker may end up costing them a lot more in viewership than they paid to Dominion. You can permanently alienate your audience. Who looks at Matt Drudge these days?

As to Tucker, he's got the biggest "genius grant" in history--perhaps $30 million over 18 months. All he has to do is stand ready to perform the duties agreed to in his contract. He can sit in his garden, think great thoughts, write a couple of books, be close with his family, cash his paychecks, and wait out the 2024 election. Tucker isn't going to change the 2024 election outcome in any case.

It is considered pathetic and barbaric even in most trailer parks. It is normal in black neighborhoods. It just is.

Yup and one reason black kids join gangs is protection. Several of my nieces and nephews attend black majority schools in Chicago. They are bullied at a minimum and one says he sees more than 20 fights a day at school. Even Catholic schools there now cost over $20,000 a year.
