At the Peel-and-Stick Café...

... you can keep warm all night.

(And you can buy peel-and-stick body warmers at Amazon if you can't get out to your local hardware store. Remember The Althouse Portal to Amazon. It helps keep this blog peeling and sticking and warm.)

It's becoming increasingly irritating to read the comments to the posts. Some are amusing or insightful but more and more they just degenerate into screaming contests, not to mention the dead-wood academic archetype coming here to sneer at his perceived inferiors.

Not saying we all have to agree, but mostly it's just yelling past each other.

Those peel and stick things look useful. I'm tired of the cold weather.

The mattress heating pad is already turned on high. I'll get in bed and turn it to low. What did I do before we had that thing? (Answer: relied on my younger furnace like metabolism).

I'm hoping for a nice snow tomorrow night -- as I have nowhere to be on Friday. I enjoy shoveling early in the morning before anyone is up. Very peaceful and quiet -- until the snowthrowers are started up.

After the SOTU address James Clyburn (D-S.C.) told CNN

"Having studied history and having taught history, I can only equate one period of time with what we experience now, and that was what was going on in Germany around 1934 right after the 1932 elections when Adolph Hitler was elected chancellor," Assistant Democratic Leader James Clyburn (D-S.C.) told CNN. "He began to do things to discredit the media, to disrupt the judicial system, and if you recall from your studies, they had swastikas hanging in churches all over Germany."

James needs to review his history, Hitler was first appointed, not elected, Chancellor in January, 1933. In November of 1933, after he had banished all opposing parties, had hundreds, if not thousands of his opponents murdered and had terrorized the rest of the government into submission, he was elected Chancellor with 92% of the vote. In 1934 when Hindenburg died, the office of President and Chancellor were merged and Hitler became the Führer and Reich Chancellor of the German People.

Now, how is that similar to what’s happening with Trump? How many opponents has Trump had executed? Many of our courts stymie his actions, he doesn’t command Congress, and I haven’t seen a Trump swastika yet unless you’re talking about Pepe The Frog and I haven’t seen him around much either. I get so tired of the Hitler crap.

I just noticed something very random that may factor into this blogs overseas referrals. WIX, a basic build-your-own-site business, has back offices in both Dnipro and Kiev. wiki Anyhow, it may mean nothing, but there it is.

@Greg Hlatky - Reflecting society in general. Half of the country is convinced that the Russians got Donald Trump elected, while the other half believes that it is a fantasy spun by the treasonous collusion of the FBI/the Clintons/the DOJ/and probably Obama. If there aren't some arrests and prosecutions soon, the talking past each other will probably devolve into shooting at each other. Are there ANY Democrats who are expressing concern over the FBI revelations? Any concern that Lisa Page was strzoking the peter of the #2 FBI Counterintelligence officer? I can't find a one. It is alarming to me.

Has anybody heard of the disposition of the millions of rounds of ammunition, and thousands of weapons purchased "for the government" by Obama? M16s for the agriculture department, shotguns for the post office? Anyone? Where did it all go? You couldn't find ammo in many calibers for years as his administration requisioned entire production runs for a couple tears. Anyone?

The day before yesterday, the FBI was a threat to civil liberties; now, any criticism is taboo. The day before yesterday, the O administration was the most transparent in history; now, secrets must be preserved, because national security. Nothing matters; power is all.

@Bumble Bee - My working hypothesis is that it spread in secret armories around the country to arm Democrats in the event of civil war.

Going to miss you Greg. Your insightful comments are what kept this blog on the straight and narrow.

Wait a second, let me re-think that. Can you miss someone who was never here?

Keep wrists and ankles warm and you don't need heating. Those areas govern when blood flow is cut off to cold hands and feet.

Humperdink said...

Just watched a few minutes of Horny Joe. He has finally discovered the names Peter Strzok and Lisa Page. His response to the revelations? Lies, all lies by the right wing. Nothing to see here.

Flounce is a great word. I appreciated reading it.

I'll try to use it in conversation today.

Surprised nobody's mentioned Pelosi's eight hour long* speech on the House floor in defense of the truest and bestest Americans of all, the offspring of illegal immigrants.

Embarrassed to say I had to check the word flounce in the dictionary. I will use that.

It's not their fault that they're not Americans, even if they stay home.

Let them stay home.

I wrote to my Senator, Tammy Baldwin, about this a few years ago. “Oh, the Department of Agriculture is just replacing worn out equipment”, was the reply.
