The refugees are victims of the progress of anti-native, democratic schemes, including elective regime changes, population redistribution, ostensibly for social justice (e.g. "Arab Spring"), where neo-National Socialists deny individual dignity (e.g. color diversity), open abortion fields, force immigration reform (e.g. refugee crises), gerrymander the vote, profit from welfare, and leave the politically incongruent behind or lost on a trail of tears.

Selective (i.e. Pro-Choice) and recycle (a la Mengele)-child. Close the abortion chambers. Never again, and again, and again.

Also, redistributive change, because the Jews have too much.

The communists, socialists, fascists, and other left-wing factions never rest.

And what about that word, "refugee"? Shouldn't that mean someone who has been refuged?

I'm looking at the posters in that window and the thought occurs to me: is the age of Aquarius making a comeback? Are the hippies becoming ascendant again? Heaven help us.

"Protect the Sacred"

All fixed, fast-frozen relations, with their train of ancient and venerable prejudices and opinions, are swept away, all new-formed ones become antiquated before they can ossify. All that is solid melts into air, all that is holy is profaned, and man is at last compelled to face with sober senses his real conditions of life, and his relations with his kind.

Marx, Communist Manifesto

It never ceases to amaze me how gooey & sentimental the Left gets about religion. Except, of course, those such as Christianity (&, I would argue, rabbinic Judaism, too) that it sees as social challenges to its moral authority.

If I understand the qualifications for refugee status correctly, the place with the door sign might as well be saying ‘we welcome 3 eyes ravens ‘.

pacwest: the age of Aquarius never left Madison and hippies also never left Madison. Hippies are still here in massive numbers just with their gray hair in ponytails. Socialism is here stronger than it was in the 60's.

The local Quaker church has a large sign visible from a major intersection:
"Love Thy Neighbor: No Exceptions"

They think that someone who lives halfway across the world in a mud hut and worships a murderous pederast and who covets my (blonde) wife is my "neighbor." They are delusional.

My own church spends tens of thousands of dollars just in travel costs to send folks on a mission to Africa. Then they spend tens of thousands on Africans to build schools, etc.
Are those Africans my neighbors? Hell no!

The poor blacks on the other side of town are my more my neighbors. I've told my pastor we should mission them instead of Africans, which is just virtue signaling of the worst middle-class kind. And teach them to fish (work for a living). But he says that would be presumptuous and perceived as racist. But we can give their kids junk toys made in China for Christmas.

I say he is not teaching the way of Christ. Charity begins at home.

A nation that is open to everyone is not a nation. It is a garbage pit. Even Mexico has MUCH stiffer immigration laws than we do, and they enforce them!

Since identity politics is de riguere, I've found many who are now hard-hearted towards others who are not of their identity. They'll take care of their own kind. And only their own kind.

Thanks Obama!

Why can't American homeless be refugees and be invited into the homes of Madisonians, Park Avenue penthouses, or Hollywood Hills mansions? What's the difference? The disparity in means between the average American homeless and a rich Hollywood celebrity is wider than a Haitian and the average American who will be forced to support them. Step up or shut up.

I have talked to people with signs like that. I always tried to ask them what they did with burglars, and never made much headway.

THEN, I finally found a way to make it a little more concrete. What would you do, I ask, if you came downstairs one morning and a couple of guys with MAGA hats asleep on the couches. When you wake them and ask them to leave, they not only refuse, but demand breakfast and inform you that this is where they live now. Their reactions are still about the same, but at least now I can see the wheels turning in their head a little.

SHEPARD FAIREY – PROTECT THE SACRED

Horses were reintroduced to the Americas after they went extinct.

Why did horses die out in North America?

Recent findings from J. Tyler Faith, Ph.D candidate in the hominid paleobiology doctoral programme at the University of Wyoming, and Todd Surovell, associate professor of anthropology at the university, suggest the mass extinction occurred in a geological instant.

Faith’s research revealed the extinctions as a sudden event that took place between 13.8 and 11.4 thousand years ago.

Faith’s findings provide some support to the idea that this mass extinction was due to human overkill, an extra-terrestrial impact or other rapid events rather than a slow attrition.

“The massive extinction coincides precisely with human arrival on the continent, abrupt climate change, and a possible extraterrestrial impact event” Faith said.

“It remains possible that any one of these or all, contributed to the sudden extinctions. We now have a better understanding of when the extinctions took place and the next step is to figure out why.”

So was it climate change and a resulting change in vegetation that drove horses to extinction? With evidence that changes in grass resulted in the extinction of roughly half of North America’s equine species six million years ago, is it not reasonable to assume that a similar vegetative change some 10,000 to 12,000 years ago could not have done the same thing?

The weight of evidence still rests in this camp, but totally dismissing the role of over-hunting is no longer so easy.

Not so long ago, there was no evidence of an overlap between North American horse extinction and the arrival of humans, let alone evidence of their hunting horses.

Then, findings indicated an overlap of perhaps a few hundred years. Latest research suggests at least one pocket of horses in Alaska persisting until some 7600 years ago, creating a potential overlap of some 6000 years.

However, the undoubted regional variations in horse extinction and limited knowledge about the geographical spread and numbers of the earliest human inhabitants of North America further clouds the picture.

There is now clear evidence that mankind hunted North American horses but were they doing so in numbers that made a difference? It is a question that may never be answered.

As for horses, their crossing of the Bering land bridge was a life-saving move for horses – and a life-changing one for humankind.

Unborn babies are sacred.

Intrinsic value is a moral axiom. The question then is when and by whose choice does a human life acquire and retain the right to life? One obvious milestone is the beginning of evolution at conception.

Zebras are the horses that co-evolved with man. They are extremely difficult to tame and can’t be lassoed. I don’t think that’s a coincidence. Elephants co-evolved with man and were extremely difficult to kill until firearms came a long, mastodons could be killed with a spear so were wiped out when they met with humans. Megafauna disappeared in Australia with the arrival of humans. Pretending that the “coincidence” of the arrival of humans and the extinction of North American megafauna is a just chance is only a way to let American Indians off the hook. Sorry, they are human just like the rest of us, with the same faults.

It will be more difficult to keep up the Apocalypse narrative as most households see more money coming in...

The U.S. Treasury and the IRS on Thursday put out new guidance and withholding tables for employers that incorporate changes from the new tax law. Under those new tables, the Treasury estimates that 90% of people who get a paycheck are likely to see more in take-home pay, as soon as February. Employers will have until Feb. 15 to incorporate the changes in their payroll systems.

Wait what? 90%? So not just millionaires and billionaires? Huh.

I recall the elitists in Hollywood, etc. who said they would move out of the country if POTUS Trump was elected. How do they square that circle since they are still here with citizens from other countries aka; S***holes, fighting to enter the U.S. and all it offers? Anyone want to see a S*** hole should do a tour of Chicago on any given weekend and observe first hand what the good citizens of that city suffer through under Rahm Emanuel. Believe in GOD and you wonder if the state of California is being punished for it's idolatry and and lack of Christian values akin to fable Sodom and Gomorrah. The Golden Calf of Progressive ideology is facing some headwinds these days of their own making. I suggest a one-for-one swap of citizens of the U.S. who are not satisfied with life here swap their citizenship with someone from Nigeria who would be happy to come here. Progressives and warlords have a lot in common it seems.

It’s pretty funny that the “Never Again” people are the ones copying the brownshirt tactics that brought, for example, Botha to power in South Africa. But this time they are wearing black to disrupt and “de-platform” opposition political rallies and parties, oh, and they call themselves “Anti Fascists,” so no need to worry about that stuff in those dusty old history books!

tim in vermont said...

You have to hand it to them though for redefining “fascism” in the way they did. Which, I guess makes a certain sense from their point of view, basically they define fascism only and entirely in terms of the things that make fascist different than communists, because, well, there is no other system outside of socialism! You may as well believe in “flying spaghetti monsters” as the “invisible hand,” which is, you know, another term for “natural selection” and we all know! that is bullshit!

First, we don't say, "shithole", we say, "chamber foreign".

Second, the immigration debate has been such a poor debate in large part because liberals and democrats refuse to stand up and defend the policy they believe in: open borders. If they, or any commenter here, denies that that is what the real objective is for democrats and liberals, then state straightforwardly what kinds of policies they would support that would effectively limit immigration to a number agreed upon by legislature.

This is the most recent cafe post at 6 AM PST on 1/14/18. Althouse has written about this being the 15th anniversary of her blog.

Chuckles has immediately decided that it is all about him instead. What an ass.

Classy guy all around.
