Random flare-ups of Trump derangement syndrome.

Here's a story today in The Washington Post about a 57-year-old female tourist from New Zealand who got killed at a ridiculous tourist attraction on the Caribbean island of Sint Maarten.

There's a beach next to a jet runway, where people hold onto a chain-link fence while jets revving for takeoff blow on them with great force. There are warning signs saying it's dangerous and potentially fatal, and this woman got blown off the fence and into a retaining wall.

Here's video from 2012 showing the incredibly stupid activity. Scroll to 0:32 to see a woman flung from the fence and into a wall in a manner that might be very similar to what happened to the woman from New Zealand:

Now, let's look at the comments. The "Most Liked" one is: "Was she wearing a 'Make America Great Again' hat?"

Also: "Looks like something that Trump supporters would think is fun."

AND: Here's another comment (with up votes): "Let's tell Donnie Junior that there is someone with damaging information about Hillary on the beach in St. Maarten. He is too dumb to know that the election is over, so it just might work. Maybe he will bring along Kushner and Manafort."

That person gets pushback: "Your comment is as stupid as people who line up at this fence. You are sick. Be sure to address this with the therapist at your next session."

And the pushback gets pushback: "Don't be silly. It's not sickness, it's dark humour. But it is a humour born of sickness. Being sick of Crump and Cronies."

Sigh.

Sometimes, in court, you just let the other side speak. And when they do, just pray they keep speaking.

Please God, let ‘em speak!

Speak! "Woof! Woof! Thank You, God!"

This stuff is all over Facebook, as well as a few commenters heads.

Really makes you cringe. Certainly in the running for this year's Darwin award, but actually seeing it happen sure makes that a bad joke.

Ahem. Present company excluded, naturally.

Once written: "As if the same Hilary/Obama deranged comments don't show up in your blog' comments everyday.."

LOL

Yeah, all those darn commenters commenting on a blog which often features postings involving Hillary and Obama!

The nerve of those commenters, commenting on the subject of blog posts.

Totally the same thing as insulting Trump voters based on an article about people in St Maarten getting jet blasted.

Totally. The. Same.

Thanks for keepin' it real, yo.

Tyler Durden: Did you know that if you mix equal parts of gasoline and frozen orange juice concentrate you can make napalm?

Narrator: No, I did not know that; is that true?

Tyler Durden: That's right... One could make all kinds of explosives, using simple household items.

Narrator: Really...?

Tyler Durden: If one were so inclined.

Narrator: Tyler, you are by far the most interesting single-serving friend I've ever met... see I have this thing: everything on a plane is single-serving...

Tyler Durden: Oh I get it, it's very clever.

Narrator: Thank you.

Tyler Durden: How's that working out for you?

Narrator: What?

Tyler Durden: Being clever.

Narrator: Great.

Tyler Durden: Keep it up then... Right up.

That's not Trump Derangement Syndrome.

That's just good old fashioned hating the hated-other.

I hope the young lady in the video was ok- she did appear to be alive and conscious at the end of it, but probably had some serious facial injuries. You gotta love the boyfriend/husband who ran away at the last second leaving her hanging there on the fence. That was some real bravery on his part.

Yancey Ward said...

This is why you need to always be aware of Newton's Third Law and be asking yourself how easy would it be for you to push that plane hard enough to reach takeoff speed.

That's an attractive hazard. There's something about being half naked in the presence of half naked, attractive women that increases and exaggerates the inner jerk. "Here honey, stand between my arms and hold on. If you lose your grip, don't worry I've got your back." I bet that guy feels pretty silly right now. Well, he, for one, has learned a valuable lesson about jet blasts.

It appears that she tripped over the first retaining wall and hit her head on the second. I will now exhibit enormous self-restraint and say nothing more about who might have built those walls.

Given the pathetically small profile of the "wall", I'm going to guess a democrat.

And yet Trump supporters are the ignorant Hillbillies.

The drumbeat of rage at Trump, and anyone perceived to support him, reflected in these comments is a short jump to shooting up a baseball field. If you really believe your own bullshit about Trump, you can certainly justify shooting up a baseball field as morally righteous.

Will be interesting to see how this resonates in New Zealand as about 90% of them think Trump is an idiot.

Todd Roberson said...

Been right there where the video was filmed. The entire area is literally coated with signs telling you not to do what the idiot in the video did.

None of them, however, are posted by Donald Trump.

Goddamn bastard apparently wants white people to die!

Yes, they are so welcoming to immigrants.

If I had that I still wouldn't come to New Zealand.

I'd chalk it up to him confusing this Bastille Day marking the 100th anniversary of the US involvement with the actual origin of Bastille Day, but you know how this would play out if the parties were reversed.

Reminds me of when I visited Hitler's Eagles Nest in the late 1970s. It was built on top of a mountain (it's a restaurant, but you still got to drive into the mountain and then take the elevator up to the top).

What impressed me most, once I calmed down from seeing the Alps (God they're huge!), was seeing that, except for a low stone wall around the patio, there was no fencing. Anywhere. Just level, uneven rocks, until you reached the edge and oblivion.

Was sorry to read about this. This site is well known among aviation geeks. I'd stand there to watch a plane land from that direction--photos of that experience are stunning--but not take off.

A jet blast deflector would have saved lives.

They don't put jet blast deflectors at the ends of runways.

No, not even close. You can find some but 9 out of ten are not. That is not an equivalence. You don't see any Republicans rioting and breaking windows, etc.
You are out there, clueless. Get a clue, my god!!!

I don't know who "him" is, in this quote. But if you read what Trump actually said, he's not "Confused" about anything.

As usual, trump talked in "short hand" and assumes people understand context and the subject under discussion. So, unlike Lawyers, or Professional Pols, he doesn't over-explain and use cautious, precise language so no one can misunderstand. For example, he talks about "the 100 year aniversery of WW1" which of course is correct, because the USA entered the war in April 1917. But no doubt some left-wing dummy has already snarked about how Trump got the date wrong.

You put them everywhere you need them. Even on aircraft carriers.

rcocean said...

C'mon lets stand over by that fence.

It'll be a blast.

Famous last words.

rcocean said...

Seriously, I'm sure people have been doing this for years and years and years. Day after day, without anyone getting killed or hurt.

Its obvious you need to either have a lot of upper body strength to hold onto the fence or the brains to let go in time.

The two women had neither. Surprised? The mortality and injury rate among women when they try to do anything "dangerous" is truly amazing.

I do see an opportunity for a thrill ride though. All you need is a big ole Pratt and Whitney and a parking lot. maybe get the patrons in those inflateable ball things and see how far they go.
