Move up here to the Land of the Cheeseheads, Rusty. We're a red state, but also a swing state. We need more conservative voters. Your vote will actually count for something up here.

Let the Illinois liberals continue to vote themselves into bankruptcy.

Think of it this way, Rusty: you'll cancel out Inga's vote.

The Volvo story this week is either an example of fake news or a divided nation where each side sees what it wants to see.

From Volvo: Volvo Cars, the premium car maker, has announced that every Volvo it launches from 2019 will have an electric motor, marking the historic end of cars that only have an internal combustion engine (ICE) and placing electrification at the core of its future business.

The announcement represents one of the most significant moves by any car maker to embrace electrification and highlights how over a century after the invention of the internal combustion engine electrification is paving the way for a new chapter in automotive history.

Volvo will continue to make HYBRID vehicles which have an ICE attached to a battery pack and electric motor, just like the company's current big SUV the XC90. The fuel economy of the XC90 is listed as 22/26 city/hwy. Does that sound like death of the ICE to you?

Of course NYT thinks so, as do many other leftie 'news' sites. Volvo Cars on Wednesday became the first mainstream automaker to sound the death knell of the internal combustion engine.

Fake News or seeing what you want to see. Same difference.

The past 48 hours has been rather bad for the Left and the media:

1) They've decided to defend CNN going after and threatening some schmuck Redditor who is of no actual news value,
2) They've decided to defend Linda Sarsour's declaration of "Jihad" against Trump, and
3) They've decided that Trump's speech about the West is a racist dog whistle and anyone who liked it is a white supremacist.

The Trump team couldn't have done a better job of rallying their base if they tried.

Of course I fully expect Trump to piss this good luck away (although I don't have the foggiest idea how he'll manage to do it).

Lucien said...

Maybe President Trump should declare a "Crusade" against Linda Sarsour, and see if he gets the benefit of the doubt.

walter said...

Given actual real-world events, which has more relevance/import: "Crusade" or "Jihad"?

Virginia executed a murderer last night. The scumbag William Morva, age 35, was put to sleep at 9:15pm. Praise the Lord.

Lawyers said he originally killed his victims because "...he was under the delusion that he was going to die in jail."

He died in jail. So it goes...

So CNN ratings have cratered. MSNBC plus CNN together best FOXNews, on average.

Chuck thinks Trump is ratings gold for Leftists.
Leftists think FOXNews is more important than all Leftist news agencies combined, somehow.

Obama was a great president, say Leftists.
Democrats lost more than 1000 elected offices while Obama was president.

Not just Fake News, but fake world views.

exiledonmainstreet, green-eyed devil said...

Birkel, (and chuck), behold:

"Last week, more Americans tuned in to watch re-runs of “Yogi Bear,” “Full House,” and “Friends” on Nick At Nite than to watch Anderson Cooper and Don Lemon’s shows on CNN.
According to cable ratings from the week of June 26-July 2, CNN’s viewership of its primetime shows was ranked significantly lower than its competitors like Fox News and MSNBC, which place first and second respectively. Clocking in at No. 10 on the list, CNN fell behind HGTV, Nick At Nite, History Channel, and ESPN — the sports network that’s been hemorrhaging viewers for months."

From: Zerohedge.com
Re: CNN doxxing HanAssholeSolo

While CNN maintains they were able to link HanAssholeSolo's posts to his Facebook account, a 4chan user claiming to be a CNN insider, suggested that CNN obtained his IP address from his ISP and 'unmasked' him. Here's the text of an anonymous tweet:
CNN, which is owned by Time Warner, got a reddit user's IP from their mods, and with their relation to Time Warner, got his identity.

Quaestor predicts the FTC, the FCC, and several other alphabet soup agencies are going to get involved in this debacle sooner or later. At the very least CNN will lose its White House press credentials over this.

Makes perfect sense. The whole Trump and the Alpha Bank in Russia started because some twit at Trump's ISP was listening in on his traffic and publishing misleading information about it. I used to be a network technician, many moons Aga, and a network technician is trusted with a ton of information, lots of tools for analyzing network traffic, etc, etc.

The funny thing about the Trump story is that when he realized that the ISP was doing the out of context, utterly. misleading, selective leak thing on him, he changed ISPs and the press whined that he was taking steps to avoid scrutiny.

Probably, same as he did in the election.

Fake News or seeing what you want to see. Same difference.

I think that they are just not very smart and let their partisanship finish up any thought that they might have before they get to the end. It's like they don't know how to think. I have been blessed with an SJW houseguest this week, and it is amazing the number of contradictory thoughts they can keep in their mind at once, and how they can just make up new "facts' to explain away any troublesome doubts that might arise. Usually based on some Facebook meme, BTW.

No, I just tried not to pull a muscle rolling my eyes. I could go into it and make a convincing case of nut jobbery, but the risk of being doxxed is ever present these days, and I still like the person.

A network technician doesn't need a FISA warrant either, the simple impulse to snoop is justification enough. There are no controls over the kind of software, like for example Wireshark, a public domain and free piece of software, that given access to the data, allows you to view emails, listen to phone calls, view web comments as they are made, etc, etc, etc, assuming the skill of the user.

I noticed in the previous cat thread the label "Ida the Cat"
It should be Ida Cat.
as in, I DA CAT!
Like they used to say in that old PSA;
It's not Easter THE Bunny.
Or Santa THE Claus.
I double checked this with my cats.
Lucy said yes.
Brenda nodded.
Martha glared. (She hates me)
Fuzz bit my thumb chummily in acknowledgement.
Bebe wouldn't be bothered to reply.
Robert (we call him Bob) was outside and unavailable for comment.

Cats are scary. My son's cat will literally sit in one place for three weeks, completely still, watching under the radiator for where the mouse came out last time. When the mouse comes out he hits it instantly. We just don't understand them.

I keep thinking about it, but I'm working long-ish hours/spending a lot of time away from my house now and I'd hate to get a nice cat and not spend enough time with it. So really I'd need TWO cats, so they could play with each other...and that's how one start down the road to crazy cat ladydom.
I have some relatives w/a cat and a dog so I get some time in there, and I've borrowed the dog for a couple of nights. There's a coffee house not too far from me that has a cat lounge, so that's probably the smart way to get my fix! Java Cat Cafe - Atlanta Free markets are great.
