Tonight's sunset.

P1120103

Once again, I saw the color from my northern window, grabbed the camera and went out front for the western viewpoint... and crouched in the middle of the street to include the reflections on the street.

These are just getting better.

Wow! Nice colors. I remember seeing a similar sunset, and then hearing the sirens. It was a house fire.

Pretty ones in Tucson but I gave my nice SLR camera to my daughter. Point and shoot don;t do a good job on sunsets. Too dark. Not a long enough shutter time.

Golden years neighborhoods have character.

But, aboveground utilities suck.

Don't know how many scf-fi movies I've seen where you are about to get sucked into another place/time/dimension.

Set the telescope up on the deck but, as usual, cloud forecast missed the mark.

I have two nieces (well, actually a bus load of nieces but I'm talking about these two), one on my side of the family and one from my wife's side. One raised in the country by a conservative, though multi-racial, working-class family, the other with a classic upper-middle class suburban upbringing by liberal, but not dogmatically so, White parents. Both these women are wonderful people, hard-working, instinctively kind but thoroughly responsible, great mothers and supportive loyal wives, modest in their lifestyles and conservative in the values that inform their actions. Both are heavily into Facebook. Until about, oh, three months ago, both were boringly apolitical..
Now, without exaggeration, they live in a state of near-panic. Beyond quoted tropes about "the 1%" and " oppressed people" they have almost no knowledge of politics and very little of history, yet they are convinced that, any day now, some ominous, omnipotent Trumpian fist is going to come down and smite them. Historically, to be this politically agitated, you'd have to be raped by Cossacks, beaten up by company bulls, and held prisoner by the North Koreans for a couple of years.
Big Brother could only dream of Facebook.

Ned Price, career CIA analyst and spokesman for the National Security Council, resigns. "Because of Trump."

Golly, I have no idea how those gals could be so hyperbolic. It's not like it runs in the family.

I read as much of his whining as I could take. He's been saving America 24/7 for over a decade now. What exactly he's been saving it from isn't clear. Not muslims, that's for sure. Itself, I guess. Now he wants to save it from the President it elected. Isn't that special? I'll bet he just can't understand why I trust Donald Trump more than I trust his candy ass.

I wonder how many brown people had to die to secure Ned Price's government pension.

Bye, Ned Price. Don't let the door hit you in your Leftist ass on the way out.

Red sky at morning
Sailors take warning

In Matthew 16:2b–3,
When it is evening, you say, "It will be fair weather; for the sky is red."
And in the morning, "It will be stormy today, for the sky is red and threatening."

Too bad Ned Price quit. I would have liked his parting much better if Trump had said: "You're fired!"

Crouching down in the street at dark carries some risk.

Here is something for Althouse to think about.

From the outset, IMDb positioned itself as a user-focused community, prominently displaying aggregate user ratings for movies and TV shows. Increasingly, though, the site’s commitment to democratic principles left it susceptible to users’ baser tendencies.

Trolls caused IMDb to shut off and delete comments from 16 years.

Just a comment on troll infested comment threads.
