Indeed. Teh traditional conservative position is that women should be pregnant. Barefoot is optional, but considering what passes for women's shoes, barefoot seems prudent, especially when pregnant.

I did like Joy Villa and her MAGA gown though. There's a gal with guts and humor and self-confidence.

Individual tastes being what they are, attempts to distill them into reason are impossible. You cannot reason somebody into a position they didn't reason themselves into, as the kids say. I'm a little bit country. She's a little bit rock and roll.
Personally, I reject Beyonce because of her support for racialized and illiberal politics. It has little to do with her singing, dancing or acting. Rather, I accepted her message that I was not her target market and will spend my dollars elsewhere.

That's unfair, Professor; no one would ever expect to see Beyonce at the White House. I mean, what kind of a President would lower himself to the level of some talk show celebrity or YouTube "star"? It's unthinkable.

My distaste for Beyonce goes back to her Destiny's Child days. I remember them giving an interview where Beyonce specifically talked about how they wanted to make wholesome, empowering music for girls and they were careful to not be too provocative in their stage show (I think she said something like "we might show a little stomach but not too much cleavage, or cleavage but not too much leg--we keep it classy"). The marketing of Desinty's Child at that time specifically contrasted those nice gals with dirty gangsta rap (also popular at the time). Godly, even (lots of crosses, talk about signin' in church, etc).
Their next album was not only raunchier but included a song about how they needed a "soldier," someone who's down with the streets, a criminal, someone who'll spend ill-gotten money on the girls & kill others. Oh, and also someone with large genitals--just to keep things classy. The song featured felons TI and Lil' Wayne, and of course by conflating street gangsters (the kind who routinely murder innocent kids in Chicago every few days) with actual soldiers it insulted members of our armed forces.
I thought it was pretty shitty to talk up your pro-girl, feminist church side and then sell albums with your ghetto fabulous criminal-loving message. So I've disliked Beyonce since then. She has some catchy tunes, mostly written by other people, and is a good dancer/choreographer. Otherwise: overrated. Residual bad feeling, too, for Jay-Z's respectability (he of the drug slingin' past, naturally).

Ugh, more of this Beyoncé nonsense everywhere because apparently we all must worship her. Not "hey this is some good music, give it a listen" but "bow down and respect how relevant she is". As in "OMG, they didn't give Beyoncé a certain award, look how irrelevant the grammys are!" as if anyone gives a crap about the grammys anyway.
It won't get better with age, either. When she's 90 and creaking out on the stage we'll be hearing how much she redefined age, and she can have it all, and she's so relatable, and we must worship her more.
There's never been a better time to retreat into old music than now.
