Trump and Kanye West — "We’ve been friends for a long time."

What did they talk about? “Life. We discussed life.”

West was recently hospitalized for a "psychological emergency" after concert performances that included a lot more talking than is the norm:
“Yeah, I’m taking his lead,” Mr. West said of Mr. Trump, after spending some time railing against the news media and praising Mr. Trump’s policy against political correctness.....

What, exactly, was so strange about this?

That guy seems taller than 5'8". Maybe Trump isn't really 6'3". That would explain Trump's son's apparently amazing height. I'm guessing Trump is really 6'1", and that guy is really 5'8".

A secret service nightmare...

Or maybe that guy is really chunky in the foreground, and Trump is standing way behind him. Good work, camera guy! Did that guy OK that framing?

This is what you do when the first black potus hurts your feelings by calling you a jackazz, on camera.

Hope he stays on the meds.

Awesome. Maybe he'll appoint Kim Kardashian Secretary of the Posterior.

-- Well, it is a well known fact that Trump is A Racist Hitler, so it is strange.

No one wants to acknowledge how Obama made this possible. Before him, presidents usually maintained a respectful distance from pop culture. I believe no sitting president had gone on the Tonight Show before Obama. Early in his presidency he invited a bunch of rap stars to discuss their ideas on entrepreneurship. Every March he went on ESPN to announce "his" bracket.

Obama was a pop culture superstar beginning in 2008 and 2009. It was like we couldn't get him off the damn television until his party got trounced in the 2010 mid-terms. After that he faded a bit into the background, although he still goes on demeaning the office with regular Tonight Show appearances.

I'm sure you could argue that this all began with Reagan, or possibly JFK. But Obama for damn sure accelerated it. He made Trump possible.

That's why it is inspired. The Democrats must need a change of underwear every time he does this.

Kanye seems perfectly normal to me. It is obvious they have a good friendship based on mutual respect. To me that is being normal. Being a Hollywood entertainer is not a normal way to live. So Kanye had a mental build back up to normal. The breakdown BS was a freak out of those watching Kanye become normal right before their Hollywood eyes.

I cannot imagine an intelligent conversation with Kanye West.

Kanye looks like a tan Mike Pence. They both have a talent the Trump recognizes.

Well, not BS, and not Hollywood. People paid a lot of many to be forced to watch his descent into abnormality before his apparent return. I doubt he would have done that in Hollywood, in fact. It was a middle finger to the Central Valley.

If Trump can now get Jay Z up there to Trump Tower, the 2020 election will officially be over:)

While the dynamic is different, South Africans also had black friends. That didn't prevent their mass abortion by social justice adventurists to end "separation". Jews have Palestinian friends. I wonder if Gaddafi had Arab friends. The cognitive dissonance is deafening.

Trump will appoint Kanye as ambassador to California

Paddy O...The 'breakdown' happened during Kanye's show; a show of Hollywood values, produced by Hollywood and for Hollywood's profit, performed on the road.

Michael said...

Kanye will now see the wrath of his black "friends" as has Herschel Walker who has been Trump's friend for decades.

Paddy O said...

But not in Hollywood, to Hollywood people. Which means it was serving the breakdown to the people who just wanted a good show.

He courts the powerful and gives the finger to the flyover parts (of the state). That's what is happening here. Narcissism, not reconciliation or normality.

So when push comes to shove, if Melania can't find a designer, she can always count on Kanye.

i'm glad this is finally acceptable. incan clearly remember in recent history when republicans would lose their minds over rappers consorting with the president. but now this proves they are finally ok with it, as they should be.

Poor old Kanye can't remember JFK. But Bill Gates can. And Bill is a thinker's thinker. When he says DaTrump is JFK redux, he means exactly what he said.

DJT is gonna need some more Secret Service guys.

Herschel was so popular in Georgia that the head of the Klan would have happily given his daughter's hand in marriage.

Candidate Bill Clinton going on Arsenio to play the saxophone and joke about what kind of underwear he prefers...

Not surprised, Kanye has problems, Trump has a long history of helping.

the campaign took a lot out of trump. he looks notably aged in the last year. but he is not a quitter and I hope keeps fighting. but he won't be running for re-election. he believes he has 4 years to turn country around. and he will succeed

Trump has cavorted with a lot worse than rap stars. He is not a gentleman, has not pretended to be a gentleman, so it would be churlish to hold him to the standards of a gentleman. Like, you know, the Prince Regent, or Edward VII. Gentlemen, without even the hint of a blemish of scandal.

Haha

agreed. good to see we're making some progress.

THis is will explode some more heads. Jim Brown and Ray Lewis are some serious dudes.

Brown has been testy since his football days. He doesn't take BS.

Inga: What, exactly, was so strange about this?

Trump hates black people, remember?

West did not survive the encounter. Trump and Putin lynched him. And them used tech stolen from Star Trek aliens to create a simulacrum West to go out and fool the press.

Also, simulacrum is now deemed a racist nazi code, so don't use it.

Wise move by Kayne. I have to give him credit for that. Much smarter than Fiona Apple's approach.
