In Washington Square last night, Madonna gives an impromptu 5-song concert for Hillary Rodham Clinton.

The NYT reports:
On Monday evening, the singer announced online a surprise concert in Washington Square Park in Manhattan with just enough time for fans to drop their forks, reroute their taxis and arrive to see her sashay onstage in a bomber jacket with fluorescent green sleeves and a winter hat sprinkled with stars....

It was mainly a singalong, in the folk music tradition of the Village.
I much prefer this kind of thing to the big rallies that use pop stars to draw crowds into a big holding pen where they'll be subjected to harangues.

Nice work, Madonna!

Ann, admit it, I have been totally right about how the Republicans were destroying themselves by playing to the lowest common denominator in our country and becoming a party of Hillbillies.

Did she perform free blow jobs as promised to any men that promised to abandon Trump?

Nice Work Madonna!!

A guy probably has to wait a long time for Madonna to get ready, when they go out.

Just picking the outfit is a nightmare.

Meade said...

Is she still offering to give Bill Clinton a blow job if he votes for Hillary?

Gusty beat me to it. So to speak.

"Did she perform free blow jobs as promised to any men that promised to abandon Trump?"

And did she remove her false teeth first?

I think the celebrities adulating politicians is gross

On the other hand, the only entertainer that Trump can get on stage with him is Ted Nugent.

How hillbilly appropriate.

I have a vision of some kind of mockumentary after the election (no matter who wins) featuring a few "deplorables" stalking Madonna for the free blow job that they were promised. Or a large number of lawsuits for a breach of oral contract if she does not deliver.

All those celebrities would be there for Satan, too. You know they would.

"How hillbilly appropriate."

I would pay to have leftist fools make ads with this sort of condescension.

It will elect Trump and you will never figure out why.

The best part is the condescension is coming from 100 IQ types.

It's a war on women. Oh, wait.....Trump never said that.

I passed on the free Madonna blow job. The price was too high.

Over at The Corner -- a post, "Black Madonna" -- Publisher Jack Fowler notes that one of her comments about being a minority herself created some confusion.

I don't know. It wasn't THAT long ago that Italian-American was considered a minority.

Was she giving out blow jobs?

Clayton Hennesey said...

Surely Madonna has by now realized the political blow job market has become oversaturated.

But I thought Madonna's description of the thoroughness with which she would deliver the prize carried a sweetness and sincerity only an older woman would bring to the job.

Nothing says "Women power! Female liberation! Feminism!" like a bunch of porn stars and musicians selling their bodies for your votes.

Hillary must be so proud of Madonna and Lady Gaga, the Nazi.

Madonna should come with a warning for uncircumcised men:

"Foreskin may become caught in front tooth gap."

I see on Facebook that several of my female friends around the country are actually wearing pantsuits to vote. I cannot believe this is a thing.

What is Madonna's contribution to our culture? I would say that she has been instrumental in bringing pornography to the mainstream. It is now ubiquitous. You can no longer avoid it even if you want to thanks to her and others like her. Since I have little respect for her values, behavior or judgment, why should I find her political opinions persuasive?
Oh, but she's a CELEBRITY!!!!!

Yeah, this thread is going to be all oral pleasuring pretty much.

So what do the ladies get for their vote? I mean besides herpes.

What was too high a price for a Madonna BJ: voting for Clinton; or "free"?

Here's my favorite Madonna video, please watch it— the whole thing, no reflex rejection — and judge it for what it is and not for everything you know and think about her already.

Quite. Is the irony of the supporters of the transformational candidate of women and their empowerment falling to their knees to sexually please passively receptive men thicker than your average jar of Crunchy Jif or not?

As the sage noted about Hillary's campaign, we have determined what it is. Now the only thing left is establishing the price.

"Unpromptu"?

Ann, is that video safe for work? The first 5 seconds is not encouraging in that regard.

For the record, Madonna has created a glorious amount of superb pop music with some excellent music videos. I understand her concerts are marvelous. However, she has also had a mediocre to terrible acting career and her public life has been one giant mess of tabloid fodder. Jose Canseco? Really?

Seriously? Dear lord.

Do they own lots of cats, too? Sounds like the actions of crazy ladies.

Madonna annoyed me, a few years ago, when she complained about how coarse and sexualized the culture is. Gee, thanks.

Want to see why Trump is going to win?

Just look at what happened to Tom Brady and Gisele after Trump announced Tom and Bill voted for him. The stories today by the leftist media and the howling fascist mob are crazy.

Sorry Ann, you can't separate it from the overall impact of her body of "work."

I hope you recognize how condescending you sound here, Professor. "Think deeply about the REAL Madonna, the artist." Thanks.

It was a line so trite & stupid even MTV got around to parodying it: "you think you know me, but you have no idea." Deeeep.

damikesc said...

Madonna is fine and it's lovely and all that she didn't harangue the audience --- but singers normally don't do that at campaign appearances. For some reasons, it's at concerts that people pay for that they pull that bullshit.

Was she ensuring that NY's electoral votes would go to Hill?

What's the point? Besides self-promotion and virtue-signaling.

As a local deejay in my vicinity said--when there was a big pro-Obama "rock the vote" concert here--"If you're voting for someone because some rock star told you to, you probably shouldn't be voting."

I consider Madonna the most overrated act in the history of pop. Apologies to her fans. Don't know what I was supposed to take away from that video. It had some visual interest.

bgates said...

Say what you will, she can do a spot-on impersonation of Eva Peron.

Though why that would make Madonna think she'd be a good President, I have no idea.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

Even Camille Paglia understands the depth of Madonna's contribution to culture. It's real. You conservatives can't just say, "If it's sexual it's not cultural." That's not how it works.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

ALthough I'll admit to no understanding as to why Professor finds one of her barest S&M pitches to be her most compelling work.

Some of us think sex is relevant without power obsessions. Doesn't anyone just appreciate pleasure any more?

Meade said...

I don't see sadism and masochism in that video. I see dominance and submission.
