"We love the Hindus! We love India!"

Trump's pro-India ad is so weird.

I am a huge (yuughe) fan of India, the Indian people, and my god the food.

I'm certainly no expert, but i have spend, dunno, six months overall there on business and had a big team based in B'lore. So know a few things.

And there is nothing that isn't found in India, including a *lot* that seems odd to this ATM.

I'll be interested to see my Indian friends on Facebook react to this.

Someone will likely point out that he failed to mention the Muslims in India.

I'm starting to like the cut of Trump's jib

Only if by weird you mean awesome.

Loving everyone can be weird and awkward at times. The main thing is that Trump loves everyone!

Have to agree about the food. Indian is my favorite cuisine.

OTOH, we outsource more tech service jobs to India than anywhere else.

India has 17+ language groups. So they use English as a common tongue.) And they have 1000+ gods in their cultures to mix and match. So they are tolerant to a fault. And they are Caucasians.

Think about that. India uses the same New York Values that are Trump's briar-patch.

My current lot of business partners in Chennai seem all for Trump.

And like Trump, most Hindus are believers in giving help to their neighbors and in giving the best education possible to their children. And the Hindus are great at the Hospitality Industry's Hotel development and management.

The ad is weird, but then I find a lot of Indian movies weird too. So maybe it works for its intended audience.

True. The world has infinite variety. I find the San Francisco-NYT liberal consensus to be remarkably parochial.

They have a hard time understanding their own neighbors down the block, much less genuine foreigners.

The ad is fine. You can see the limited budget but it was made by Trump supporters, not the Trump organization. The "I approved this message" line says that to me.

Makes perfectly good sense to this Indian. Trump is channeling the same slogan used by Indian Prime Minister Modi. Both are strong nationalists.

My husband is an indian and indian's don't like Trump. They are afraid his fans will confuse them for muzzies cuz his supporters are pretty stupid and can't tell the difference.

Why is it so crudely patched together? Why is the audio so eerie? When I watch it, I feel like I'm in a strange dream.

Welcome to Bollywood.

An easy introduction to Bollywood, while still within more-or-less comfortable parameters -

"Bride and Prejudice" - Gurinder Chadha
with Aishwara Rai

This is a fun chick-flick. Makes a great date-movie, IMHO.

Hey Althouse, maybe the ad is made that way to appeal to Hindus. Are you calling us weird? Back off!

We love the Hindu's it's almost like they were bred to run my beautiful hotels. I also have to tell you, we couldn't possibly maintain a industry beating 75% occupancy rating. Everybody know this. What they don't know is that we use exclusive call centers in Bangladore. I get wood in any place that starts with a Bang. We love the Hindu's.

You want strange dreams?

Don't you think the cut near the beginning seems unprofessional and that the audio seems dreamlike when he's saying we love the Hindus?

I realize it's narrowcast to an audience.

There is a big problem or big nudge in equating India with Hindus. That's not even dog whistling.

But, Hillary Clinton is the Senator from Punjab

Hillary Clinton co-founded the Senate India Caucus, which anti-offshoring advocates say champions “issues important to India, including outsourcing and H-1B and L-1 visas.”

Clinton in 2005: “I am delighted to be the Senator from Punjab as well as from New York.”

In 2007, Barack Obama slammed “Hillary Clinton (D-Punjab)’s personal, financial and political ties to India… It’s all about the money,” his campaign wrote.

"Bride and Prejudice" is a fun movie, Bollywood movies usually are a hoot.
